Does anyone else think why india's film industry MOSTLY feature the maincharacter as a male who always as the one who "saves the girl" or just "wooing the girl" into liking her on almost every single Bollywood movie and mostly never has anything featuring the girl as the one who does something heroic and even if it kind of does, usually has some boy still trying to love her??? I m Indian and every single time my parents watches movies all I can think about is why can't the girl do it herself or does she really need some boy saving her??? Come on it's 2017

When I saw your post yesterday about the changing of traditions, Lilly, I commented how powerful of a message it was and how it's bound to spark the inspiration needed to make that change. Low and behold, Twitter headlines it immediately after. Truth of the matter, it's something that has to be said, and too many are afraid to speak on such. I'm just glad to see those words of yours were able to make that kind of impact so suddenly. And it's such a nice milestone moment to have, even as we know it's not about that. On the other side of things, I'm looking forward to the nostalgia of your old school style video today. It's already looking like a good one. But, enjoy everything being back into shooting mode with the movie today. I love you so much, Lilly

Thank you lilly for bringing meaning back into our traditions. I feel too many people just go through the motions because it's what was always done. That sort of mindless repetition kills the spirit and honor of these ancient rituals. Your thought breathes new life into these customs and gives them meaning once more, as they had at their beginning. Thank you for bringing this idea to so many people. You're the best!

Neeharika Neti as you grow older you may get to tweak things if you have children yourself. And hopefully if they come to you one day wanting to tweak things too, you'll remember this moment, not necessarily to say yes to everything they suggest but at least to take a step back and ask why it is important to them and how you can meet in the middle.

You can always refuse to tie a rakhi. If that's too diifficult on your own, try to get your brothers on your side. Finally if all else fails, when you move out into your own house, strictly follow what you believe.
@haileebsb7 жыл бұрын
I completely agree that sister's protect brothers a lot too. my mom is the oldest sibling and whenever her younger brother would get bullied, she would protect him and go to his school to talk to the kid.

You are best Lilly. Love you soooo much. The part about Raksha Bandhan.. wow. I used to tell the same. I just love how you challenger old traditions and inspiring others to do the same.
@shreeyag.54117 жыл бұрын
I am a Hindu and although i am an only child but my mom has a brother and she also does Rakri for him. I have always thought that it was weird that she tied it on him instead of it being both ways. What you did is very nice towards abolishing sexism. I will also encourage my mom to get my uncle to tie the string on her this time. If everyone starts to think about this then we can change some traditions to make them more equal towards women (or men if thats the case). And dont get me wrong, i respect traditions and such but we all have to respect all genders equally.

But Rakshabandhan is about the sister protecting her brother, this was a tradition especially practiced before war, to protect the sons and brothers and husbands of the family, and the brother gifts his sister in return for all the love and protection she provides. Like in my case, we both tie the Rakhi on each other and we gift each other as we promise and wish well to protect each other through everything!

Lilly,do you know sisters tie a kind of rakhi on each other too in India? It's not as popular but it's done in many families 🌸 Its called lumba,its kind of a longer string and has a design at the end. It symbolises sisterly love and celebrates the care sisters have for each other. But also,lumba isn't the same as a rakhi so the point that you made is also very valid. Thanks for making the world a better place with your ideas 💖
