Living in Australia the Coldest it gets in winter in the daytime is 46 degrees Fahrenheit. But then in the summer everyone is roasting and it's 113 degrees Fahrenheit. Gah! I wish it got colder here and snowed but it docent darn it!

I feel ya Lilly. I live in NYC and it was horrible!! I couldn't see any cars because they were all covered in snow and I couldn't eat anything because the sidewalks weren't clear yet. And now I have to go clean my driveway and that will take me about 3-4 hours.

It's so wonderful to learn from you because you were caught in a blizzard by yourself, spent two hours on a flight that got cancelled, got a cab to get to a hotel and had to deal with that jerk. I really don't know how you did it but you make me feel like any difficulty is not too difficult if you're strong and awesome enough to tackle it and you have! Hey Lilly, Alanna from Virginia here. I feel your pain on the storm situation. I work nights at a convenience store/gas station and I HAD to make it in tonight. The roads are BAD. Seriously, my dad had to drive me. But anyway, sorry you're missing Sundance but I'm glad you're okay! Welcome to what it's like to deal with a snowstorm in New York City. I know it was hectic and I'm glad you was able to roll with the punches. As for he stores being closed it is ideal to get what you can before hand otherwise you have to make with what you have which sucks. As someone who is in the hotel industry, where my family owns a few different hotels, there is such thing as an early check in fee. However, most of the time it is waived, especially if the room is already ready. Legally you shouldn't have had to pay for the fee unless he shows you the policy written down somewhere. My advice is you should have contacted the manager. Hope you get to salt lake city safe :)

I live by DC and it snowed for legitimately 32 hours straight. There's at least 2.5-3 feet of snow everywhere. They've already cancelled school until Tuesday and they probably won't be able to get us back until Thursday or Friday. This is the most snow I've ever seen in my life.

May I suggest that you create a two tier out of town hotel system. When the weather is nice, you can stay in a non 5 star hotel. But when your destination is going to have iffy weather coming in and leaving, request a hotel w/room service.

I live in Baltimore and we have so much snow too! We had friends leaving for Florida but it was canceled too. Everything is probably closed because everyone is really scared that something will happen, which is totally ok. The snow was actually to my waist and my feet froze off. Hope you get back!

Wow I feel for you. A few years ago my parents and I went to NYC when Hurricane Sandy was coming in and we couldn't find a hotel or motel in sight. They also tried scamming us, it infuriates me that people will take advantage over other people in their time of need. Good for you for standing up to them. If I had your number I would have had my relatives over there hook you up with food!! Hope you get out safely. :)
