The one thing about Beyonce’ I don’t like is: No other Black female can shine since she debuted as a solo artist. Aaliyah, Brandy, and Monica were all able to shine together in their era.

In my opinion, from the footage I have seen of Blue Ivy, she has Solange' energy. She is strong and learning the industry from the best vantage point possible. When Blue Ivy looks at her father, it's as if yes, I love you BUT I know who you are. Jay-Z is wary of her energy as he is wary of Solange'. It shows to me. @Karceno, this was an insightful video.Blessings.

Part of the issue is that Salonge was still so young it was easier to focus on the elder sister. Once Salonge got older, I'm not sure it would have made sense to push her the same way. Salonge is a different type of artist who is worthy of everything she has worked for.

Tina has a lot of self hate as she stated her own mother favored her brother over her and didn't hide it. Now she does it to other people. To talk about a child like this is beyond deplorable. Can't imagine Tina having a dark-skinned daughter and how she would be treated? Just sad.

No. The issues that dark skinned women have with light skinned women largely stems from the negative way that light skinned people have viewed and treated them historically. Its a systemic issue and it's disingenuous to act like it's simply a mutual dislike. I say this as a light skinned woman.

I think the people saying Solange is "more talented" than Beyonce are being a bit biased and shortsighted. They make two intrinsically different types of music and they're different types of performers. I think artistically Solo is stronger in terms of writing and depth in her music. Bey is a stronger vocalist and a more lively performer. I love Soloange and actually prefer her style over Beyonce's but that doesn't make Beyonce any less of a powerhouse or any less talented.

How far we’ve fallen. While it ain’t fair either way, I had to get far enough away from the United States way of thinking about complexion to find out the OPPOSITE was true not even 500 years ago. The darker the better is what was the norm and the light ones were treated differently. All the true kings and queens that ruled were dark skinned. “Blackface” real origins are connected because the people wanted to dress and party as those who ruled over them. And also the reason Moorish history won’t be taught in public ever.

I am from TX. Light skinned mom, dark skinned dad from LA. My dad’s side are all darker ppl (gorgeous) but they hate their color. I’m just brown but my granny told me as a little girl I was lucky I wasn’t as dark as them! My aunt on that side would comment in the summer when I got darker it was weird because my mom’s side never talked about color. I’m the darkest one of all the women on my mom’s side and they all want my skin tone. My mom always promoted Whitney Houston & Janet Jackson to me saying I would age beautifully like them. But my mom’s side is from TX. Texans are color struck too but nothing like Louisiana or California. They use color as a barometer for everything. I can only imagine the things Kelly heard growing up with these ppl. I believe Farrah had no talent but I also believe everything she said about the Knowles.

But Beyoncé also rocked her Afro as well. As a matter of fact Beyonce has been wearing her hair natural since before she went solo. She even wore her natural hair in a concert with Destiny’s Child . There’s interviews with Beyonce rocking her Afro before the was this so-called natural hair movement and people made fun of her for wearing it! So Beyoncé was NEVER out of touch her Afro-Centric side! Solange has stayed dyeing her hair blonde ! Mary J. Blige has been rocking blonde her from day one! It’s very disingenuous to say that because she has lighter skin that she’s trying to be white when black of all shades dye their blonde!

My mom is light skinned, and sometimes when I have to deal with Black people in business situations, I’ll send her in because I can say the same thing as her, but it will not be accepted from me as it does with her. We have both noticed this and used it to our advantage Black people on the whole are just color struck And until we learn, especially the dark skinned people to appreciate all blackness, other races will continue to use this against us…🤷🏽‍♀️

I did notice that Beyonce skin has been bleached or lightened if you see pictures and videos of her as a teen or child her skin was like a tan copper tone and not pale beige color. These individuals are stuck on lighter skin tones =success, acceptance, and wealth, and I would love all of my children, friends, family, and colleagues, no matter their color tones. This is why countless women and men in India, Jamaica, Africa, bleaching their skin it's very disturbing and insane 😳

Karceno a lot of those women that has been raised in their generations are truly affected by "colorist". The lighter toned women feels as if they are better even if they haven't accomplished anything just by their shade and the darker toned women have been known to work harder and not like the lighter toned women for their true nastiness towards the darker skinned women. My mother is darker and her sisters while me and my sister are lighter toned and sometimes, sometimes I see my own mothers distain for lighter women still towards me but I understand that her point was to never have kids by a man of her shade or darker as we have always talked about that. She always said that she didn't want her children to have to experience life the ways she did being dark. It's fuked up !

Colorism is a very bad disease! My mom had 5 girls snd were all light skinned except for one . And growing up she separated herself from us because she was a little darker ! Til this day she’s 58 yrs old snd still don’t talk to us because of that ! It’s really saddening ! Beyoncé is even bleaching her skin to be even lighter ! It’s really sickening !! Sad but karma will get them all !!

I wonder if Matthew realized that he admitted the only reason Beyonce is popular is because of her skin tone, and not because she actually has talent! Let’s be real here Beyonce has an appealing voice . But she has forced packaged talent . Not raw talent! You can tell when an artist has that special talent because it comes off as genuine talent! Yes every artist is somewhat package but their raw authentic talent proceeds that packaging!
