In today’s episode Dr. Becky speak to Cecilie who thought she had met her the man of her dreams when she matched on Tinder with Simon Leviev.
Cecilie was a 29-year-old Norwegian masters student living in London at the time, her first date included a trip on private plane, she truly believed that the man she was dating, who went on to become her boyfriend was an Israeli millionaire who called himself the "Prince of Diamonds." Over the course of 6 months he managed to defrauded her out of over $200k.
This is Cecile’s story where she discusses what she experienced, it’s not a therapy session however it does cover some of the Psychological impact that she experienced. Some people may find the content of this interview distressing.

It is very easy to see all of the red flags looking back at this story, as they are typical narcissistic behaviours like love bombing, over-inflated sense of self-importance, sense of entitlement, needing admiration, engaging in whirlwind "romance"/fast paced romance, his anger outbursts she observed towards others on the phone etc. That being said it seems that he was an incredibly talented con artist and it is clear he has zero empathy for his victims which appear to be many. He is probably further profiting from his newly found fame and finding new ways to grift from it. I feel very sad to read so many comments of people blaming the victims of his abusive behaviours. I am so sorry to hear the Cecilie was one of the victims but I feel like she still could be susceptible to another relationship with a narcissist in the future as she seems to believe there were no flags when looking back there were a lot. I feel badly for Cecelie and hope she gets the help that she needs to recover and learn from this horrible experience as one of his victims--keep up the healing!

As a European woman I find the cultural background of these women no accident. Scandinavians in general are very kind and trusting people, their women are the most open minded females in Europe, there's no patriarchal culture and they have no issues giving money to men. She goes to great lengths to send him money every time he asked She lies on a loan application. Why? Why go through this for some guy you don’t even know.
