Oct 10, 1964 was the opening ceremony, so 49 yrs ago to the day! Its great that such good quality footage exists from that time. I got thrown off by the men's 100m track final, appearing right at the start of the video - I wonder if this is the actual order of events? Anyway, good to be able to see this stuff !

14:45 ---- I thought "What a beautiful woman!" when I watched this movie at 13 years old. 1964 Olympic games were held in our country, so every young student was invited to the movie theater as a school excurtion. Since then, I have not seen more beautiful athlete than Ann Packer.

How I recall Fred Hansen, the world record holder, either being first or fourth. WOW. Of course, how did they vault in the dark?

Its funny how much times have changed. For instance, the womens 800M race, it looks like the runners were just some housewives that they found at the local supermarket. And the race is run so politely and civilized, you can almost imagine that if one of the runners fell down, the other competitors would stop and wait for her to get up to continue...

Ebenezer Adams The athletes were better then in this sport, only PEDs, and especially conditions, have “improved” records, at least since the 80s.
