That tomb was my last stop in Rome back in 2019. Surprisingly there are no historical markers or protected from the public.

Excellent question! During this period (1st century BC/CE bodies were almost always cremated. Inhumation become more widespread from the reign of Hadrian onwards (early second century CE), and by the 4th century the practice of cremation had essentially died out - if you'll excuse the pun!

So many languages and words lost to time. If only we can crack those old languages someday so we can learn more..... .... of taxes, transactions and the luridly spicy gossips back then. I mean those graffitis in Rome and elsewhere are kind of like that.😅
