Johnny had more class in his pinky than any of today’s Late Night trash hosts!!!!

Agreed, the last have not lived up to the role. Letterman might have added value to the role.

I love the Johnny Carson show and wish it was on forever! Especially with today’s trash of TV! One thing that strikes me funny is the closer it was getting for the last show you hardly hear Ed laughing at every thing Johnny says LOL! And to think of the big bucks Ed made being the laugh track to Johnny will be priceless!
@pronemanoldbutyoung55485 жыл бұрын
hardlines4 Ed was always bad with his money and went bankrupt later on. That may have had a major impact on Ed. That and the sadness that Johnny soon would be off air

When I younger and growing up with Johnny we always knew he would be there...even when he was away on vacation we knew he would be right back. His comedy and personality (like Jack Benny) holds up better than any of the late night shows that are pale substitute for the real thing. Thank God for the tapes. Johnny will live forever!

We would be so comforted with Johnny Carson during the stay-at-home order under COVID-19! Ah, but it was not to be so...Well, we can dream, can't we?

How amazing, through the years, that many people have seen Johnny as being a dramatic actor. Maybe he resisted such a move because that may not been in his comfort zone. But what if...? I think he would have been dynamite.

There will never be another Johnny. All the late night show hosts today, suck! All they do is talk about politics. When Johnny Carson retired, late night talk show quality and comedic talent went in the toilet. No one has been able to match the talent and delivery that Johnny had. I’m so thankful these folks have been posting these shows on here. America has become so polarized, thanks to the socialist control of our media. Politically correct entertainment has killed good comedy. Everyone’s worried of hurting people’s feelings. Thank God for video tapes of these shows. It helps get my mind off all the bad news of the day.

manofmanyinterests Johnny is called the king of Monologue for a reason! Fallon sucks, and Leno was fair, Parr was ok, johnny was great!! I wish he would of stayed on a couple more years then did something after, instead of being so "hidden if you will...
@jp03085 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you missed the likes of Steve Allen, Jack Paar and then the King, Johnny Carson to make an educated assessment. Yeah, I liked Jay Leno too ( better than Letterman!) but Carson set the bar and even the likes of Leno, et. al. would acquiesce to Carson's showmanship which Leno and others have endeavored to emulate since Carson's retirement!! Every "Tonight Show" copy cat owes its origin to Johnny Carson.
@michaelbill1233 жыл бұрын
I feel bad for the younger generation who never got to see the early television comedy shows. Sid Cesar, Jack Benny, on and on. Writing back then was much better. You know... Steve Allen was a very good Tonight Show host too. Very funny and musically talented as well.

@@michaelbill123 Don't forget Jackie Gleason. Johnny took a lot of his mannerisms from Jackie.
