Who I & the world soooooo totally miss Mr. J. C. "Here's Johnny. " His quick & untimed reflexes to Mr. Rickles, we're flawless!!! The dialogue with Bobby Riggs, so much of a pro at it & a cute response he had made to Mr. Riggs & his long drawn out answer ., Was " I forgot, what was the question". The audience roared with laughter!!! The talk about the " Battle of the sexes", so awesome !!!!!!! The comedics monolouges, each & everyone of them had their fine opportunity on the 1st original tonight show! I allowed my son to stay up one nite to watch his show: one 1 condition only. He had to take a 90 minute nap, earlier. He agreed. To hear my child's laughter was priceless!!!!!!! I know the world has similar stories & memories!!! He set so many people up for their own lifetime destiny, dreams and career's. Joan Rivers, Ellen, Rita rudner, Don Rick els, etc etc!!!! We all miss u so much, 4 all of the memories.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw Rickles with his wife and another couple (not the Newharts) in the clubhouse at the night races at Sportmans Park in Chicago (1977). I mustered my courage and went over and politely asked him to autograph my program. He invited me join them. Signed my program. Introduced his wife, Barbara. Offered to buy me a drink. Asked me who I liked in the next race. I was overwhelmed by his graciousness. I accepted the autograph but refused his invitation to join them because I knew he was just being nice -- and I had no intention of intruding. But I never forgot his kindness. In 2016 he did a one man show, sitting down, in Pasadena. Afterward, I presented that same Sportsmans Park Program with his original signature on it to his manager. Again Rickles signed it right below the autograph he'd given me nearly 40 years earlier. He passed a few months later. I'll never forget him.

I live and was brought up 10 miles south of cleveland and have heard that knock for most my life. Cleveland s not the best city but detroit or another city is better? It gets old. In the earlier 20 century Cleveland was the envy of most cities. Carnegie, and many huge tycoon names were part of Clevelands legacy i feelbits jealousy. If you havent ever been to cleveburg. At least visit then judge.

Do you have the Tonight episode (sorry I do not know the air date) with a small girl who performs feats of strength such as lifting a 500 lb barbell and lifting the back of an automobile? It likely would have been on sometime between 1981 and 1984.

I had no idea who you were talking about when you said, "Will." I then realized you misspelled Wil Shriner's name. Also, Wil is the identical twin of soap opera star, Kin Shriner.

i didn't remember some of the first few comedians ... guess they didn't 'make it .

Well this was over 30 years ago. Many are either dead or retired. Some went into acting. A lot of comedians never develop new material, so they just wind up on the circuit, never becoming well known. Louis CK was like that for decades; supposedly met Carlin, where he was suggested to throw away all his material every year and start over, and that made him work harder and become a true comedic star. But not every comedian is able to do that.

The morning after my younger sisters high school graduation party, my parents listed our home for sale and both retired on the following Monday. They were living out of state 1100 miles away within six weeks. I got drafted and never looked back, I was gone for good.

AFTER 20 YEARS WHEN HOUSES WENT FROM $15k TO $50k A NEIGHBOR SOLD AND BOUGHT A CANDY STORE (HE WAS LONGTIME WHOLESALE SALES)... AS HOME PRICES SKYROCKETED WE HEAR FROM OTHER NEIGHBORS THAT THEY SOLD BECAUSE OUR HOUSE WASN'T KEPT UP (5 KIDS,1-INCOME)... ALL US KIDS GOT SCHOLARSHIPS TO NATION'S TOP UNIVERSITIES AND OWN HOMES IN NATION'S HIGHEST ZIP CODES; HARD WORK IS REQUIRED IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE NOT INHERITING SHIITE!

Carson, in an interview I watched said he very seldom did political jokes. He asked, Why would I want to hiss off half my audience every night? He was right of course and a very smart individual. He also was on 30 years and could have done many more. The so called funny guys on at night now will never have the following he did. Will they last as long, who knows, but they will be getting by on half the audience Carson had. I stopped watching when LENO retired and have never been back.
