xcode is trash and Apple lock Swift devolpment on it so you are forced to use it if u wanna develop ios app, but when u develop something else like backend ofc you use VScode (10x better than xCode)

I get by. I'm trying to start a business, so profits are down this year lol, but last year doing freelancing was around $70k. If you got a regular job though, can easily get around that and more if you stay at the job.

Used/Refurbished MacBook Pro M1 14 inch is excellent budget friendly choice. M2 chip is great. Current M3 is overkill.

I have an m1 air 16gb of ram. There are also m1 Mac minis with similar specs as the air. Haven’t had any issues yet.

Lol, we’re the same. I use a macbook Pro 2014 15” and it works great. You have to have 16Gb ram and upgrade the ssd though. Newer macbooks are expensive in my country.
