Great job, Bob. Honestly I think it’s great that you have a way to make some money from all your efforts at this point. You deserve it. You do a lot of testing and come to a lot of conclusions that other people don’t bother to spend the time to figure out. While, as a mechanical engineer, I sometimes cringe at some of the things you say even though you make it clear you’re just guessing (haha) I still think you have brought a lot of really good insight and knowledge to the FPV community and I hope you continue to do so by continuing to test many different things and many different combinations and figure out what actually works, no hype, and no BS. Kudos.

@sjcajw75 жыл бұрын
It's funny seeing this come full circle. I got obsessed with micros about 2 or 3 years ago. After doing as much research and shopping around as I could, I ended up with some crappy 115mm 1.5mm carbon frame off Banggood, Racerstar 1103 10,000 kv motors, INDIVIDUAL 6a Racerstar ESCS (I don't think 4-in-1 ESCs were around yet), and the 65mmm KK props. BTW it's awesome you include the information about having to drill out your props to fit the 1.5mm shafts. I learned that the hard way after waiting 3 months for everything to arrive from China. I wanted a 2S setup, and bought some cheap 2S 350 mah batteries off Amazon. The AUW was around 70 grams (did not have camera/vtx. It was a LOS quad), and it flew okay. I was a little disappointed. My biggest complaint was the motors.They were cheap, rattly, and the shafts somehow popped through the bottom of the motor after pushing on too many props over the span of a few months. It's cool to see how much better the electronics are now, and I'm excited to try this setup again using "modern" technology....which I'm sure will be outdated in another 6 months :) Thanks for your hard work on the website. Looks great. I think I'm going to do the 1s configuration, mostly because I have a ton of 1s batteries and like the convenience of not having to balance charge haha

can I just say... I think you are one of the best content creators on the internet.** As opposed to many, you are actually good at what you do; you put in the time, the work, and the research to present to your audience some of the most value packed videos around. There is no click bait, no bullshit, just videos that are valuable, and I leave feeling that my time was well spent. And on top of that you are not just putting out videos for the views and the money. You are working with companies, doing that research, and your own development to improve the hobby. You are the epitome of what a community member should be. With all that, I say, thank you. **(I do not know how to put into words; but looking at your content within a content niche, and comparing it to other niches and the content community as a whole, you know?)

Thank you. I really really appreciate the kind words. Even when I teach dental classes I don't dumb down any information. I talk to everyone as if I'm teaching myself at my own level. If they don't fully understand it, they will after they hear it a few times. I don't like to waste anyone's time, ever. This is also why I just cannot waste my own time reviewing everything under the sun randomly. I considered it after learning how much some of these other channels make but I already have a job and I'd hate my life if it was only reviewing random items....for China usually. What's really sad is that the 'fake media' stuff ends up getting far more attention. All I need to do is add 'game changer' to every title and my views will probably double :-D.

Drilling out prop holes doesn't sound all that attractive of an option. :/ - When are is the Toothpick frame back instock? How is shipping to europe from your shop? Getting a good Toothpick-ish frame shipped to europe(within reasonable price) is currently quite difficult. - What's your opinion on the power of the TinyHawk? The TinyHawk seems a very fun but slightly underpowered. - Do you have any info on a 2s version of the TinyHawk?

HA! So this has now morphed into basically the same specs of a build i have and still fly from 2 YEARS ago. ~68g w/ 450mah 2s KK65 1103 8000kv (however it does have a full range RX and 200mw VTX :: brushes shoulder ::). However - that build required (at the time) a custom frame, a custom camera mount, chasing down the right drill bit and hand drill, soldering each of the tiny NOT 4in1 esc’s, using a battery with a connector no one uses and building a custom parallel board to charge it. It all took forever and was the biggest pain (but was fun). And it was worth it to have something safer for city use and just learning. I also only made it after burning a bunch of 5” quads to the ground and getting frustrated. Would’ve been so awesome if an easy solution like this was available which a huge part of what is so exciting here! So exciting to have safe(r), easy solutions with such performance for beginners or people that don’t want to zip around with a flying chainsaw in public places. Well done! and thanks for passing along heaps heaps and heaps of information. Can’t wait to try those AMAX’s. My OG racerstars sound like i’m dragging a broken grocery cart across a parking lot :)

Great to see someone is trying to help change how it should be done. testing more testing before selling. I'm so sick of the stuff being thrown together with names that say it not even good. I see alot of gps drones that have app that don't work some don't even have the model in the app. Or not manuals. seems like it's more about numbers vs standards or quality workmanship goes out the door when it come to the companies over seas. Just not right wish people would stop buying from tell them to start making working good product. I hope to try yours soon but I think I will wait for the final motors . Can't wait to fly it

Very very very cool. I think I’m going to have to build one of these soon. Just had to buy a new used truck so I have to slow down on Fpv stuff now :-( but ima keep my kwadbox sub and that will get me thru. lol. I really can’t belive this small of a quad can move that well. It’s insane. Love it.

Hi Kabab I have a set of 8mm brushed motors and I had a bat-100 and I need a new Flight controller and esc's all in one. Can you suggest a good F.C and esc's board that can handle the 8mm motors , OSD, Thanks for the info.

Brushed you mean? There are tons of brushed FCs. Just choose one that fits whatever frame you're using. They're all about the same.

I agree completely. The secret is already out in Europe, from what I heard, it's a really popular brand over there. I have two builds that use the Freestyle 3e frames and I love them, they're essentially baby QAV-Rs for 16usd.

Yannick G so true! I can‘t wait to get the new 2207.5 Motor. Also their 2305 2550kv is the most powerful 2305 on the market and easily competes with my Other 2306 motors

@@markiemark7018 I really want to try their 1407s now that they are available again. The 3100kv can spin 4in and 5in props. I was thinking of combining them with the Nano 5e frame for a 5in build under 250g auw.

@@markiemark7018 The hyperlite motors were once available at 2722kv, but they've been out of stock for ages. There's also the new Hobbywing Xrotor 1408-2400kv that's really interesting. Combined with the Nano 5e frame, I think it would have an amazing power to weigth ratio. Really out of topic for Kabab's video, but I could talk builds all day, lol.

Thanks a lot for all the great videos, I've been watching every one lately! You may have answered this already but I have another micro and am often finding myself stuck in the trees as it's so light. I am considering switching prop direction from inward to the front to outward from the front. Which way do you spin your props, have you found this to be effective and do you have any other tips to minimize tree climbs besides the obvious of not getting into them?
@Kabab5 жыл бұрын
unfortunately these micro motors don't have enough power usually to effectively dislodge things from trees. Prop rotation out is just to keep crap off the FPV lens...
