There's got to be a reason Frontier hasn't hired you already, lol. Your mastery of brevity and plain-speaking along with your command of stats would be a huge asset!

I have every vessel with them all engineered. I have heard about using deep charge on the smaller FSD ships because it has more jump range. When I was building them all every ship with deep charge had less jump range then mass manager and mass manager used less fuel on each jump so that I didn’t have to scoop for as long on each star. Very much like the idea of where you’re going with this video even with it being mostly combat builds focused and hope some people realize how much engineered modules can be shared from one ship to another. Now if you have the money/time you should definitely build yourself multiple ships focused on different builds so that you can just switch ships and depart. Coming from somebody that has 7 different Cutters the ease of just changing to a different ship is far better then having to change out every part once you decide to do something different. O7 CMDR Exigeous. You really are turning into a one stop tutorial center. Thanks for all that you do for us in the Elite community.

It's been quite a while, but as I recall deep charge was good for small ships, fairly even with mass manager for medium ships, and mass manager better for large ships (for the reasons you outlined).
@grandreefer6 жыл бұрын
Matthew Sharpe I hear ya and that’s what everyone says but for some reason every ship I have built has less jump range with deep charge. The only one that came close was my hauler but even that was .02 better jump range with mass manager as apposed to deep charge and deep charge made it consume more fuel therefor making me fuel scoop for longer.
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
As for Deep/Mass it does depend on the build so you should check, but in general terms deep for 4 and lower, mass for 5 and higher. As for specific ships/builds I have exactly that - I too own every ship and a total of 588 grade 5 modules - so I'm all about specialization
@grandreefer6 жыл бұрын
CMDR Exigeous only 588? Lol. Just messing around with you.

Fantastic Video Cmdr Exigeous! You're so skilled at packing the information into your videos! I've been in the game for long enough that I'm pleased to say my favorite modules tracked with you're findings pretty well. One area I've been a little more conservative though is with settling more often on clean / drag drive thrusters instead of dirty. You have me reconsidering that now. Are dirty / drag drive thrusters not the heat culprits I thought they were? Is the added speed/agility (~145% OM for dirty vs ~133% OM for clean) always worth it?

Outfitting and Engineering are my 2 favourite features in Elite. I love the complexity and variety in building for the various careers and tasks (and with the Mining changes there will be even more to choose from) I love the way we have discussions on the key points of each build, it adds a much needed complexity to the game. The only part I'm not a fan of is the crazy amounts of mats/data needed, but at least the mats trader has been introduced and that we will soon be able to find the correct USS. I just hope Frontier doesn't leave us waiting much longer for 3.3 as it's been a long wait for these much needed additions.

Currently the thing that keeps me playing is the builds testing. The only build of mine that I'm really happy with is a Chieftain that's a sort of synthesis with the current PvP meta and personal preference. I'll keep working on the other ones.
@davidkennedy62086 жыл бұрын
@@Kissamiess same here. I actually enjoyed the 3.0 Engineering change because I got to redo all my ships (changing bits here n there) It's the one thing in Elite that I do enjoy. I love the Chieftain, it's one of my favourite ships to fly (never really got on with the FDL) I've got the Challenger too, but it just doesn't seem to dance like the Chief. I won't even mention the runt of the Alliance litter the Crusader!!!

why do you suggest Deep Charge for the class 4 FSD? I found that Mass manager still has a slight edge over Deep charge, or did I miss something?
@NOTJustANomad6 жыл бұрын
same here. mass manager all the way. and i don't engineer any thing under class 3.
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
It depends on the ship and rest of the build - so these are "general" terms. Something like the DBX deep charge is slightly better (and that's what I was referring to)

Question: how do the Powerplay modules factor into this? Will there be a part 2?
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily a part 2 as that's a pretty big list - but more specific engineering videos for modules and ships. Power play modules engineer just like others (save for the mining lance) so in this list you could use long range pulse disrupters or pack hound missiles. You can also do reinforced prismatics but now you're getting outside of a beginners list of modules.
@exarkun40846 жыл бұрын
I do this too but not with core modules. I lost some grade 5 dirties with drag thrusters due to a storage glitch on the ps4. Core modules always stay in the ship now.
@duc_mallard8486 жыл бұрын
What's the storage glitch? Don't want that to happen to me jesus
@exarkun40846 жыл бұрын
It did something similar to when you run out of storage. I tried storing my thrusters but the "transfer" command was gone. I tried backing out and the game froze. Reset app and found my 7a thruster gone and was replaced by the stock E rated module. Haven't removed core modules since.
@duc_mallard8486 жыл бұрын
Ok, so the game may just fuck you over at some point rather than being a set way to replicate the glitch. I can't not move modules about so I'll just have to take my chances😂thanks for the reply dude
@exarkun40846 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah. It could be anything. More than likely it was my connection. A sudden drop could have interrupted the process of transferring at the worst possible time. It's worth mentioning I haven't had it happen again. I'm not going to push it, though.
@exarkun40846 жыл бұрын
And I've never had it happen with anything other than core modules.

it would be nice if you could buy the products that the engineers mod, like all of them not just up to 6a or not at all. Why are they against us upgrading our ships?
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
NO NO NO, if we could "buy" upgrades that would be terrible as it's way too easy to just grind for credits. Now I will agree that it should be easier to gather materials but buying them would be awful overall.
@GoFasterHD6 жыл бұрын
my bad engineers sell the hardware,they mod as in shields, I should be able to buy all shields at their port.
@cobaltblue19756 жыл бұрын
Oh, I see what you are saying. Like It would be nice if for example Professor Palin actually sold thrusters in all the classes since that's what he specializes in? Not selling pre-modded equipment. Yeah, I've wondered why that's not a thing myself. It makes total sense. Why shouldn't Selene Jean have a full inventory of Armor to sell you so you can save some weight/time travelling to her?
@GoFasterHD6 жыл бұрын
Exactly, or some of them will only sell a class 2 shield, we went through all the trouble unlocking them at least let us buy shields/thrusters/engines in all classes at the depot that they specialize in
@Exigeous6 жыл бұрын
YES 100% YES - sorry I misunderstood - *YES*. It's like going to a Mercedes dealer and them saying "we can fix your brakes but we don't actually sell the parts, you'll have to bring them with you". Wait, what?

Even GCI agrees that the Cutter is the best large PVP ship due to it's hardpoints, speed, mass lock, and shield capacity. Granted, it would ruin your "75" as it needs class 8 shields.
