My guy... you're the electronic maestro!! Just wanted to quickly hop in here to say that to me, there is legit no higher possible accolade than this ❤To stand out for somebody in a year full of genuinely amazing electronic music.. let alone someone so knowledgable and passionate like yourself, and then for them to get such a wonderful emotional reaction from my songs and articulate it as earnestly as you did here in this video is just SO mad! More than I could ever hope or ask for, I'm very grateful man, and I'm just incredibly glad that the album accompanied you so successfully through those high happy moments you described. Number 1 bro ... still in disbelief, thank you truly. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

I have said it before, but I’ll say it again: 2022 has been such an incredible year for electronic music, even more so than 2021 was in my opinion, and once again this video proves it. So many freaking great picks all over this list right from the get go Jesus Christ. It’s nice to see Isola and Coruscate near the top of the list. Isola really truly is an emotional experience from front to back, especially with the track New Beginning. As for Coruscate… man that #1 was not expected at all but so well-deserved. Honestly that album may go down as one of my personal favorite albums of this whole decade, point blank period. The fact that we’re not even halfway through the 2020s is really saying something. Every track is immaculately well-crafted and addictive to listen to, its cohesion is on another fucking level, and I’m glad that it winded up being my introduction to Vale-Smith because it got me hooked into his discography almost immediately. He truly is a talented guy and I totally can’t wait for what he releases in the future because man is he killing it or what! The rest of the albums on this list are really really great and the funny thing is that a lot of these projects made my personal year-end list too lol. Otherwise, 2022 has been an excellent year as previously stated and here’s to more great music in 2023 and beyond!!!

Ok, I got to say that Kelly Lee Owens album "LP8" is truly remarkable. I'm glad I took some time to listen to it, as I don't think I've ever heard anything quite like it. I would put it even higher in my personal top now (at least #5). Also, check out the new Dopplereffekt album "Neurotelepathy", if you like Detroit Electro, of course.

Didn’t quite get the chance to hear all of the records this year but, definitely some really high highlights in electronic music! Probably would go something like: 1. The Last Goodbye 2. Fragments 3. Miracle in Transit 4. Renaissance 5. Topical Dancer (glad to hear you warmed up on it!!) As my top 5, but really there were a bunch of wonderful electronic albums this year! Thanks for the Sig Nu Gris and Rumpistol recommendations, those were also pretty good/great albums too! Gotta check out the others too then

2022 did things to my taste, might as well have expanded it tenfold right at the end, and it's only getting bigger. My favorite this year was that Rumpistol album. I always love a good modern-day classical album, these albums are always the ones that do it for me with such few elements. There's always gonna be an interesting way to evolve that classical sound and there always has been since the Medieval period, and it's albums like this that showcase it the best. God knows who'll be the next Nils Frahm, Rumpistol or Bach in the next 400 years, but oh well. With albums like this, we don't need them that bad despite my jealousy. Though I must say, the favorite tracks thing is really fun to watch! I REALLY hope it can get its own video next year, but I digress. Awesome video nonetheless! Here's to a good 2023

I also agree with you about Bjork. I loved Fossora far more than I did Utopia, but I guess we're in the minority. Was almost like a sequel to Medulla, but with the influence of Vulnicura.

Great list, will definitely check those out as most of them I haven't listened to. For my money, the best electronic this year has got to be DDS's Darklife, it's such a mindfuck of an album while also being extremely catchy. Also Jockstrap's I Love You Jennifer B is fantastic, it diverges a bit from electronic on some tracks but overall it's a fantastic blend of electronic and pop. The chamber instrumentation paired with glitchy synths makes for a very interesting listen every single time.

Joshua James Wittman's album Orbital Patterns is a current favorite, it dropped in Dec so its fresh but its a great ambient album. Krystain Shek's album Suddenly was good, only heard a couple times but it will be played more. Nov. Nils Frahm's Music for Animals was lovely, real favourite this year. Sept. Sven Kossler's DBl Stndrds is utterly brilliant! March Biosphere's Shortwave Memories was a blast from the past. Good to hear that techno sound once again. FSOL Rituals E7.001 was great too, nice to hear that FSOL sound fresh again. Soul Revivers On the Groove and Dub remix album was a stunningly good find. Gave 2022 plenty of soul.

Always look forward to these videos each year! Here's my list: 20. Vale-Smith - Rekindle [AUG] - Liked this one better for the summer vibes. Coruscate barely missed this list. 19. Flume - Palaces [MAY] - lol. While not as strong an album as Hi This Is Flume, still pretty great with a surprising amount of replay value for me. 18. Eoni - NIMN [FEB] - I never thought I'd describe an experimental album as "charismatic" but here we are. 17. Bibio - BIB10 [OCT] - Still has yet to grow off me, in fact it's actually grown on me slightly. 16. Voxkai - waiting songs [NOV] - An album that blends the modern zeitgeist of "noisewall" music (think Jaron or acloudyskye) with mid-late 2000s shoegaze stuff. Very cool. 15. Katia Krow - Julfar [NOV] - Such delicious noise. 14. JKuch - Specter's Garden [JUN] - Very interesting and fun alt-pop record from a very interesting and fun artist. 13. Justin Hawkes - Existential [OCT] - Here's my most EDM pick on this list, while I don't really feel like this is the strongest thing Justin Hawkes could've put out it's still a lot of fun to listen to. 12. Grabbitz - Time Isn't Real [APR] - Another fun album that blends some more niche styles of EDM (mainly midtempo) with mainstream rock. 11. acloudyskye - What Do You Want! [SEP] - OMG ! Porter Robison Vibes ! ! ! 🔥🔥🔥I Love Porter Robinson 🔥🔥!! ! ! 10. Alexander Panos - Nascent [SEP] - I went into this when you covered it, it's a pretty great album despite not being something I can easily return to. 9. Patricia Taxxon - Visiting Narcissa [JUN] - Very cool IDM album. Agree that it tends to meander. 8. Rival Consoles - Now Is [OCT] - Honestly might be my favorite Rival Consoles project. 7. Greg Dallas & Jan Esbra - Confluence [NOV] - I'm very grateful for your last SSIM video for introducing me to this wonderful ambient album. 6. Dead Robot - Sanctuary [FEB] - Basically my version of Inside Out or A Memory Of Something Vast and Elemental, plays a lot of EDM and downtempo tropes straight but still puts a smile on face, reminds me of the kind of music I was listening to as a younger kid. 5. Jaron - it's hard to see color [When You're So Impossibly Far Away*] [FEB] - God I hope this guy puts out more music soon. 4. Patricia Taxxon - Wax Under Wolcnum [JAN] - In terms of what PT released this year, while all of her albums hit for me, this one packed the most in it's runtime and didn't meander. 3. Lapsung - Is (Not) A Friend [JUN] - Take Flume's music, make it less abrasive and more experimental, and give it a distinct playfully morbid sound, and you have this album. 2. Tettix Hexer - Aero [NOV] - Like your list, my top 2 is very narrow. Aero contains some of my favorite tracks of the year, and is right up my alley. But it also contains a lot of interludes and it really feels like TH padded this album out at least a little bit. 1. Boxplot - Here & Now [MAY] - My thoughts on this are similar to Sanctuary, it's a very standard melodic dancefloor DnB album, but it never fails to brighten my mood, and it contains the perfect blend of feelgood nostalgia for me. 2022 was an... inconsistent year for me. A lot of lows, and a few highs here and there. Definitely more memorable than 2021, lol. Just want to say thanks for always being a great source of new and exciting electronic releases. I definitely discovered a lot this year thanks to you, and I hope to continue doing so next year.

A really great list, thank you. I loved the ones in the video I've already heard and I will check out the few I haven't heard. I think on the individual track list, Perspex by Plaid deserve a spot too (even if it's on a mediocre album). And I would also put Jean-Michel Jarre's Oxymore in this video, it was a surprisingly unique, layered album, especially from a 74 year old.

I'd like to add two albums for suggestions on some stuff I missed: Heaven Come Crashing by Rachika Nayar, ambient music with the guitar that mixes it as far as it will go, gives me same feeling as listening to Godspeed you Black Emperor for the first time. Juliana Barwick might be the better comparison. BRC Vol 2, I can see you liking a lot. a mixture of house techno and club songs that caters to your tastes.

An extremely underrated project was Stipple by Knobs. I found out about him through his reviews of guitar pedals, where he focuses on looping and overdubbing guitar samples through the effects more than he does strictly playing through them. The album is short, fuzzy, lo-fi, it really captures a certain coziness that served me well during the heavy and early snowstorms we got this year.

I think my album of 2022 would definitely be that Air Texture vol. VIII. I don’t know if having a compilation is cheating but I listened to it a lot. It definitely has a sound and sometimes stray very far from ambient. Those songs didn’t change the headspace it puts you in. But when it comes to album that weren’t released this year, I think Gorillaz self titled, George Clanton’s Slide, and Autechre Exai were definitely my top. Just got into Autechre this year! That Gorillaz album, I listened to it over 200 times in full this year, Exai and Slide were pretty close!
