Didn't know you were so into jazz. Have you ever listened to Haywyre? His progressions are insane and he uses a lot of great jazz elements. Would suggest looking up his live performances on youtube

Great List! Because I absolutely love Pendulum and I've commented on all of your previous Pendulum related videos I fell obligated to share my list of favorites. Also while I do like Knife Party, I simply don't have the same nostalgia from them as I do Pendulum so they will only be in the honorable mentions. Top Ten Favorite Pendulum / Knife Party Songs Honorable Mentions: Begin Again (Same as you, this one really started to grow on me after seeing it live) Internet Friends (Same as you, was also always my favorite Knife Party song) Salt In The Wounds (Intense and my personal favorite of their album opener's (Even if it is Slam Part 2)) The Fountain (I love this song too, but it was a late grower for me and not the one that left the most impact. Plastic World (Easily the track that grew on me the most from Hold Your Colour) Granite (ALIENS!!) 9000 Miles (Thank you for introducing me to this. Never really listened to this one before your In Silico video and now it's easily one of my favorites) Another Planet (A song that one of my all friends got me into, definitely one of the most interesting songs on Hold Your Colour.) 10. Blood Sugar - Was my go-to intro song whenever I made Pendulum playlists, and was one of the first I discovered from other people, even if the version that they always used was the low-quality dubplate version of the song that featured the hilarious Microsoft Sam intro. I love the studio version of this song way more though, mostly for the higher quality. I especially love how the guitars come in against the giant beat around the 3:20 mark, which to me took the song over the edge. 09. The Island - Part 1 & 2 - As you said, the most obvious choice and the second ever Pendulum song I ever heard. I used to listen to the first part of this song constantly, loving it for the vibe and simply how catchy it was. The second part I don't have nearly as much nostalgia for, but is amazing all the same. 08. Watercolour - FEED THE FIRE, BREAK YOUR VISION, THROW YOUR FISTS UP, COME ON WITH ME! Love that so much. One of Pendulum's best songs to sing along to by far and a ton of fun to listen to. Don't really have much more to say beyond that. 07. Hold Your Colour - My favorite song from their debut is the title track and it's a song that I not only love the studio version of, but also the Brixton Academy live version of and the Bi-Polar edit of as well, to the point were I made my own version of the song that extended the edit. I actually am not to sure if I should be including the original or the bi-polar version, but I still absolutely love this song. 06. Self vs Self - Yeah.... I can't help but feel I should be putting this song higher. This song is one of the songs that really allowed me to discover artists like Celldweller and such, but it most certainly is not the one that did that the most. I think the chorus is catchy as all hell, I love the bridge, the riff is great and is easily one of my most listened to songs. 05. Crush - Once again catchy as all hell and really you could swap this one with the previous one and I would be fine.This one's higher mostly because I've heard it more recently more than anything else. I love the ending of this song. 04. Propane Nightmares - Awesome, just awesome. I unfortunately have very little to say about this one. 03. Witchcraft - The song that introduced me to Pendulum and could easily take up and of these top spots, I just put them in this order because like with your list, this is just how I feel right now. I love the chorus, the drop into the intense guitars, the bass heavy verses, the synth line everything. This song is what I point to when I say this is why I love Pendulum. 02. Encoder - This and the next song you could easily swap for me. This song is the Pendulum song that's been growing on me most recently. An emotional and climactic finale to my favorite Pendulum album, with lyrics that heavily remind me of a current situation that I'm currently in. What really puts this song over the top for me is the second half. After the almost R&B inspired first half, when we are greeted with this massive instrumental swell and Rob Swire singing "Might as well let it die" as th final line really gets me in the feels. As I said this song nearly topped my list, but it didn't feel right putting at the top, mostly because of how recent it's been growing on me and even then as far as songs that have grown on me the most it's not even the best example... 01. The Tempest - This song. This song I randomly discovered after doing an in-depth listen to In Silico years after I heard it the first time and was a song that I never payed attention to until then. I was blown away. This song suddenly got repeat listens from me like crazy and it started growing on me like crazy. I love the atmospheric intro, the riff that follows a majority of this song, especially the riff's ascending action that it has. I love the lyrics and how catchy it all is, at least to me, and I love the D&B outro. A song I never payed attention to until years after I discovered the band is now easily my favorite song they've ever done. That's my list. I hope you enjoyed reading through this fan's favorites. Thank you TheWonkyAngle for uploading this series I look forward to seeing what you venture onto next. And thank you Rob Swire and all you crazy bastards for forever altering my music tastes for the better.

same dude (my list is different but we'd both go mental at their Live performance, I'm pretty sure 😀), I kinda grew up with KP as I am exactly 17 this year (do the meth) but when I got into Pendulum, it was and still remains a heavy emotional acid trip to the past and to places in my mind where I never thought I'd get and that is pretty much because their music has a perfect balance of style + integrity + time of release and musical ability I just wish more people around here listened to their stuff and I got to hear at least one track on the radio because Pendulum is less mainstream than KP yet captures the awesomness of living like it's another day at the office ps: I'm ill so the response may make zero sense but I am in a really good mood thanks to the music right now 😁

Nice list! Ahh, it's so hard to pick just 10 best songs from these guys, they're definitely among my all-time favourite artists. I'll share here some of my favourites from them. Hold Your Colour, Streamline, Girl In The Fire, Out Here, Still Grey and Sounds Of Life from Hold Your Colour. The Tempest, 9000 Miles, Propane Nightmares, Granite, Different and Visions from In Silico. Witchcraft, Encoder, Watercolour, Crush, Under The Waves, The Fountain and The Island from Immersion. I've also enjoyed the new songs they've released by the time I'm commenting here (the ones from the Elemental EP), so let's hope they keep making more great music. And about Knife Party, I don't like their style as much as Pendulum's, but I still enjoy some of their songs. Rage Valley and LRAD were the ones I liked the most, but Begin Again and Kaleidoscope might be my new favourites from KP. It's been a pleasure to watch this video, as well as the whole Pendulum reviews. Greetings, man.

something that occured to me when watching the KP Eps review was that people should stfu when it comes to critisising music as 1. they often have no idea How to actually make any musik 2. they turn into pretentious (or correct) classical musicians who Don't care about enjoyment of music in life but only about the ridiculous precision of its execution/performance we are dealing with music that is supposed to make you enjoy life and entertain you, even if the product does not objectively meet the requirements/standards of musical creation, it is there for you as a human fuck, that's actually the reason I got into drumming and music and that's why I have subscribed to you dude, your honest reviewing fits neatly into my lifestyle and musical exploration ps: to any other musicians out there - yes, nailing it is important, but it is not The ultimate point of making music at least for me
@TheWonkyAngle7 жыл бұрын
I personally don't think knowing how to make music is a prerequisite for criticizing it so long as you have legit explainable reasons for not enjoying it, though it does help occasionally :) granted I don't actually know of any reviewers who care only about technical precision or that kind of thing but idk
