Apply for one of the free colleges. Almost all are small but at least you can get a 4 year degree. You just pay for any textbooks you may need. Speech path and audiology is useful as we have deaf people. If you are willing then special education. They pay well as not many people want to work in that field. History is only useful if you want to teach or go down the law route. Working in a museum is iffy on the useful part. All the free colleges will be legit and accredited.

@abbasdadawalla89834 жыл бұрын
When you ask what is the best major for law school, I believe you are asking what will help me succeed in law school. But since law school allows you to have any major, none of them are the best. Sure poli sci and philosophy and some other law oriented majors will give you are better background for the content you’ll learn in law school, but it’s nothing you won’t learn in law school. You should be asking that if for ANY reason law school doesn’t work out or you lose ur desire for it, what is a major that you have some interest in and is both versatile, has balance, and can allow you to get a job. Don’t consider it a fallback for law school but rather being a practical person because life is truly unpredictable and both people and situations change. Even with whatever major that may be for you, you’ll still get to go to law school. Your success in law school will not be based on the major your choose in college but instead the level of effort you put into studying in law school, the resources you use in law school, and the other students in school with you that you network with. That is why there are a ton of successful lawyers today who did not major in anything law related. That also doesn’t mean you can’t major in something law related and not be successful. If you like poli sci and you have some idea of what you would do with a political science degree if you chose not to go to law school, then yes, major in poli sci. Sorry this is so unbelievably long.

The only social sciences major that is not a complete waste of time and money is economics. Yes, economics is not a business degree option, it is a social science.
@hns13684 жыл бұрын
I still don’t really agree with the hard sciences. It really depends on which science. With my degree, I found a job easily and did not need additional education or certifications. You really just have to do your research before hand but not all hard sciences are bad. Maybe stay away from being a bio major, but the rest should be fine.
@hns13684 жыл бұрын
Also, for many hard science majors, the additional education they need is a phd and not a master degree. PhDs are significantly more affordable, but do take longer to get.

It's the absolute truth that people need to hear today. Why is it that people would rather be lied to than being told the harsh truth today? Don't they know that this is for the best if them? Most will just never learn.

I’m planning on majoring in one of the social sciences to become an elementary teacher - would you foresee any regrets of me pursuing a social science in that aspect?
@goldendiploma98654 жыл бұрын
4 Reason why you will probably regret it (and 2 Bonuses ) : 1) social science is part of the humanities ( regret rate = 42%), 2) you will still need to get a teaching degree ( + regret ) 3) Birth Rates continue to decline. This means few children ,fewer schools , and fewer job opportunities. ( +++ regret ) 4) elementary teachers make close to minimum wage. ( + regret ) 5) children are germ spreading factories ( corona virus/ future virus == sickness/death) 6) children and ( especially parents) dont respect teachers ( ++ regret ) Recommendation: Just have a child ( or adopt one ) and teach them. You will not only help with the declining population but you will forgo getting into massive student debt for a degree that you may or may not regret or use . Good luck.
@hilaryy.51554 жыл бұрын
@@goldendiploma9865 The only reason the regret rate for social science is that high is because the degree itself makes it hard to find a job but with additional education such as teacher's college, I think that it would be less of a regret. Even though birth rates are declining, the overall population in Canada is still growing (I'm Canadian) and the average annual salary of an Ontario teacher is $63,000 CAD which is not minimum wage. In addition, I will not be applying for employment for another 6 years, by that time COVID-19 will most likely no longer be a worldwide problem. It depends on each class and teacher how much they respect the teacher. Also, having a kid might satisfy my passion to teach but I'm more so looking for a way to earn money. Let me know your opinion - thanks for your insights!!
@goldendiploma98654 жыл бұрын
@@hilaryy.5155 Birth rates matter more if you want to be a Elementary school teacher then population growth. Population may be growing because older people are moving to canada(probably from USA to get cheaper medications) but your not teaching old people so population growth is irrelevant. Regarding salary. The 63000 CAN is for the full time teachers that have entered the field +20 years ago when few wanted to be a teacher. However the wold has changed. Since then the university system has gone into hyperdrive and has been creating thousands of qualified teachers each year for many years. Today many new ( and previous year) grads end up working as substitute teachers for minimum wage. You probably heard about a teacher shortage just like i heard about the STEM shortage here in the USA .But its propogand to get you to spend money at a university. Just remember the university system doest care if there are jobs out there for you after graduation because they don't get paid for that . If universities got paid only when grads actually got jobs in their field then many universities would go bankrupt. Here in the USA about 70% of grads work in areas unrelated to thier degree. I dont know about Canada but im sure its similare. Btw Any one that tells you that new teaching get pays well is lying . only time will tell but the out look doesn't look promising for teacher. Only reason to be a teacher is if you are absolutely in love with teaching kids. Its defiantly not for the money. This is a old blog from 2011 but it applicable to today. www.quora.com/Why-are-there-so-few-jobs-for-teachers-in-Canada

@@goldendiploma9865 Noted!! Thanks for your opinion. Hopefully, I can turn passion into my career because even though there are limited positions in the education industry within Ontario, I can be part of the successful group of graduates from teacher's college. I believe that within every program or degree there are successful graduates.
@goldendiploma98654 жыл бұрын
i also hope that you are "part of a successful group of graduates from a teaching college" 6 years from now. I also hope that this years group of graduates are successful. And i hope that every groups for the next 20 years are successful too. With so many successful teachers i hope there will be smaller class sizes. Maybe soon each child will have a personal teacher...maybe even two, three or maybe seven teachers for every single subject!.... I hope that you and all those successful teachers find that one special child to teach ( maybe even take turns sharing children to teach). And im sure that the parents of those children will pay you a lot of money. Im sure the parents will trust you enough too. im sure they will be more then glad to give them to you so that you can provide that special child one-on-one lessons like a real mother would..... I hope all your hope,wishes,dreams, prays , and desires come true. So keep dreaming big. And Good luck baby sitting children :) .

This is a dangerous approach to your education and career. It is this mindset that is destroying the arts and the humanities.

Pointing out which majors people regret is dangerous? Offering alternatives that can help people reach the same end goal, but gives them more options is detrimental?
@gabrielfynsk4 жыл бұрын
Income Over Outcome Yes, very much so. Your education isn’t a commodity, no major is “useless” or form any sort of hierarchical structure, and this notion that you should pursue education based on the revenue and job opportunities that follow it leads to the debasement of the entire educational system into nothing more than a business trade. Take your happiness and education seriously and stop basing it on the working statistics of a temporary system that can only be postponed by you or I in our temporality
