Battle City is INSANELY popular in Russia and neighboring countries. It was THE game to have for your famiclone. People still play it to this day. It was like World Of Tanks of it's day. Hence, probably, the amount of downloads on the site.

Also, not so popular, but good romhack is Battle City 4 players hack, added some features from Tank 1990.

yeah there is a bevy of great hacks out there, but of course people tend to play them and forget to talk about them, i personally keep all the Hacks that i like and i'm always checking back for more.

Yo, I'm from Argentina. Due to high piracy, bootlegs and knockoffs, both Battle City and Captain Tsubasa are EXTREMELY popular here in South America. (That and, y'know, football being our thing and we all watched the Captain Tsubasa anime. It was called "Super Campeones"). Does this put some clarity over why they're so downloaded?

Interesting take to make a top 30 based on total downloads. Though it has some disadvantages in that you'll mostly get older Mario and Mega Man Rom hacks. The newer Rom hacks and Rom hacks from less popular games fall out this way. There are for example no Rom hacks of SMB2 or Zelda II present, while both games have several amazing Rom hacks. Still some great, classic, Rom hacks in this list! Looking forward to your next video! 🙂

How did you figure out the top 30 most downloaded at the site? I have always wanted to find the top rated ones there but haven't figured that out yet.

I sorted by downloads, it's not a perfect method because it doesn't really get you 30 best games it gets you the 30 most popular games so it biases it towards old ones

It's a policy on RHDN that you can't filter by rating or amount of positive reviews. Last year I checked manually for the highest rated Rom hacks and shared this list on Reddit . Enjoy! 🙂

i remember aroun 1999 there were so many hacks and mods flooding the internet. Pimp mario, Carnage brother (super mario games but with carnage from spider-man) and so many more. Allot of them were very offensive in some way or another. I can't find most of them anymore, or any evidence some even existed. it was a very crazy time, i even made some myself with the built in tileeditor of nesticle.

I think the Romhack that I am anticipating the most for the NES these days has to be that Mushroom Mayhem one from the creator of Mario's Adventure. When that one releases, I reckon' it'll be considered the new pinicle of NES romhacks. Something I am still waiting for that sounds simple but probably is anything but, would be for someone to make a romhack of SMB1 that would allow for left-scrolling. I've only seen a single hack that allows for this but not one that incorporates it into just the base game. Would also like to see one of SMB2 that would allow for smooth vertical scrolling rather than that segmented on the game has. And lastly a SMB3 hack that would turn the auto-scrollers into just regular levels that can be played at your own pace.

It'd be hysterical putting a tough guy in front of the My Little Pony themed hack and watch as the game's difficulty kicks his ass at first and he sadly realized that a little girl game was too tough for him. Ugetab was a great hacker, i saw his name on the captain tsubasa 2 dream team hack. He help me with game genie codes for put 2 minutes into sonic 3, plus sonic 3 and knuckles. The poor guy, passed away years ago during his sleep. It was terrible sad. Rest in peace friend. 😣😭😭😭😭

2:56 Hey Captain Jack! I saw my own ROM Hack "AVGN VS Dr. Wily" made it in your video. I made a sequel as a ROM Hack of A Link to the Past called AVGN VS Ganon. This ROM Hack is worst then AVGN VS Dr. Wily! The level designs are the same from vanilla ROM. Except the wall cracks inside caves and dungeons for bombs to explode are invisible and you only die in 1 hit (Heart Containers, Heart Pieces, and Upgrade Tonic Armors won't help and it's completely useless). The performance in this ROM Hack is the one that stole the show. Most of the dialog was changed as Adult Comedy Humor and AVGN Jokes too. I recommend add MSU1 PCM Pack to this ROM Hack. Most of the music was changed to match with AVGN Theme like Zelda Farting Theme (from CD-i Part 3 video) in Hyrule Overworld, and Hyland Theme in Dungeons and Caves. I hope you will cover this ROM Hack in your "Best SNES Romhacks (Volume 3)" video or "Kaizo Romhacks" video. AVGN VS Ganon www.zeldix.net/t2081-avgn-vs-ganon
