It was that western conference finals with Sacramento Kings VS Los Angles Lakers I realized how rigged and manipulated the NBA actually is. Peja Stoy, Chris Webber, Mike Bibby , Vlade Devak, Hedo Turkalow. One of my favorite basketball teams of ALL-TIME 2002 Sac Kings and the officials gave Kobe and Shaq that series. Alas, poor ignorant Millennials lack historical context and don't realize why Bird is Number One. Bird didn't just want to win; he'd won twice before. Bird was all about crushing an opponent's hopes and dreams. He knew that getting someone's hopes up only to dash them was more demoralizing than simply beating them. According to Danny Ainge, Bird was keeping mental track of the score and missed those shots intentionally so it would come down to the final shot. Bird was a master of psychology; that's why he walked away with his hand raised before the ball ever went in the hoop.

For anyone saying that Bird underpeformed, you'd be correct. Even for his previous 3-point contest standards. Go back and watch his 3-point contest in 1986, the first one ever held, and you'll see why he was so lethal. Without a money ball rack, the dude made 23 points and made 9 in a row before he missed. What's so impressive about the one that everyone remembers is that even though he underperformed, he still won the event and told everyone that he would. The funny thing about the in the warmup jacket comment is that everyone forgot that he literally did and said the exact same thing in 87, and he performed much better in that shootout lmao.

Well I see why he put this Larry Bird one at no. 1. You gotta understand the moment. Sure it wasn’t a very good three point performance. Although he had won the last two as well, he needed a certain amount to win it. And that last ball, that he shot to win his third three point contest in a row, he called it and knew it was going in, and put his finger up, knowing that it would drain. He also did it in his warmup.

You obviously weren't there and never watched this contest. Bird missed early shots INTENTIONALLY so he could win it all on the final ball. That's why he walks with his finger in the air before the last shot dropped. Dude was all about, not just winning, but crushing the spirit of his opponents.

This is not the top 5, Hodges for bulls was very impressive, the rest weren't top all-time.

Bird won this competition 3 years in a ROW. No one else has ever done it since. Just like winning the NBA MVP 3 years in a Row. Only Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell have done that as well. Beyond Impressive.
