As a freshman and Sophomore nobody nationally really knew who Mckinney was then he went on the AAu circuit and got that 4 star ranking. Vashon had and squad with D1 kids and as long as you can put up atleast 15 with other D1 kids on your team most likely you wont drop from that 4 star status.

Somehow New England prep schools started getting crazy talented hoopers in early 00's. I live 15 mins away from New Hampton prep and I used to go watch them play Brewster and Tilton Prep(who has won 2 or 3 national titles) and Rashad McCants was playing for New Hampton at this time and Brewster had 7 kids going D1. As a sophomore I had offers from Proctor, Tilton and Brewster. I used to go play pick up games at New Hampton against McCants and Tilton(town I played public school for). It was a blast. Man I played against a lot of D1 players growing up in AAU like Matt Bonner and his stacked team and it was a blast. It's funny cause a lot of people see Bonner as the big white stiff that shot 3s. I can tell you that guy had a nasty handle and if you backed off he simply drop a 3 on u. Very frustrating trying to guard him. I graduated same yr as him. He also had a sister I believe went to Stanford on a hoop scholarship and his little brother was pretty great as well not sure where he ended up going. Oh what could've been had I gone to 1 of the prep schools. Honestly if I had it to do over I'd stay at my school. I loved everything about it. Packed gym going nuts for us. The best team for that school in 20+ yrs and I still think of those guys as brothers even 20 yrs later and would do anything for any of them.

The issue is I know the main goal is to get to the NBA but you have to develop your game. Most of these guys need 3-4 years in college to develop physically & skill wise. Think about Jordan, Khawi, PG-13, and others play at least 2-3 with the right program.
