Great hearing what you selected and why. All very valid points. I really like chatterbaits but need to get better with a spinnerbait. So much to learn. Then theres tackle organization so you can find all the baits you need on the water which is a whole nother story. Great stuff 👍

Ike, good video. Very helpful for people starting out. Choosing which lure to use can be overwhelming for new fishermen. But since everyone is putting in their two cents let me give mine. I only have one...... The Super Fluke in watermelon seed. This bait is absolutely deadly. If you just want to caught a lot of bass this is the go to bait.
@petemoore89234 жыл бұрын
I learned to adapt. Used a shaky head with a 4” ring fry one time and could buy a bite. Cut an inch off and swam it. EVERY cast caught a fish. I’ve fished a wacky worm super slow. Nothing. Give it a sorta hard upward rip and let it fall, BANG!!! Both examples were in really crappy conditions.

Great well thought out video! Pretty much everything I carry with me every time I go bass fishing. I tend to always have a good selection of frogs and chaterbaits as my go to lures. They are my confidence lures that almost always produce decent bass for the places I fish. A 3/8 black/blue chatterbait is probably my number one lure and is always tied on. I especially love the chatterbait for nighttime fishing under a full or nearly full moon.

My top 6 is very similar...I swap out the swim bait for the soft, plastic jerkbait, though. I DO use swimbaits (I actually took a few monsters this year on a keitech) but a fluke/caffeine shad/what have you is farrrrrr more valuable to me. It imitates everyyyythingggg a bass targets in terms of prey. It struggles, it darts, it walks, it’s floppy but maintains its profile, it’s weedless so you can throw it into the jungle, you can break the surface and completely freak bass out. It just tricks their little brains into attacking. I’ve had slow frog days, slow jig days, slow spinnerbait days, everything....but I’ve had the fewest slow days with a fluke. It’s ALMOST a “cheater bait” in the words of hank hill.

I agree 80%. Got to have Ned rig in box though. Although the finesse swimbait you showed could almost be lumped into one Ned category, as to me Ned rigging is more of a size approach than the shape of the plastic.

My top six for what I catch here GA . Yes a square bill a skirted jig. But a lighter weight. A Inline spinner in white or natural color. My 3 finse lures. A ned rig, in a natural color. Small ribbon tail worm. Green pumpkin or water melon. Last a strait tail worm. Again in a natural color.

I wouldnt think it would change myself. Only thing I can add is spring through fall i would exchange the senko style worm for a walking bait. Shower blows or a spook. Most likely a shower blows. In dead winter I would change the stick bait or my top water choice to a blade bait for me. A jerkbait for most other people. I hate fishing jerk baits. Not caught a ton on them I'll admit, but they work, and if I ever get on a few jerk bait bites I'll change my mind maybe. But I'd say he would keep 5 out of 6, three seasons out of the year. Senko is warmer water bait for the MOST part. I know there's exceptions but typically speaking.
@gp_games10884 жыл бұрын
Crank Spinner Jig Creature/craw Stick Swimmbait I think that pretty much covers it for the bait/lure portion. The rest all comes from different styles of rigging. One of the most popular now being the ned rig. This is basically just a stick worm cut in half. The stick worm itself has been proven to be rigged in an almost endless number of ways.....wacky, Texas, dropshot, skaky, flick shake, soft jerkbait, worked quickly across the top....etc.... We all like to try everything out there myself Included but there are basic lures that do what we need for the level most of us fish.

I just got into soft swimbaits recently... Idk how I used to fish my backyard pond before trying paddletails on a belly weighted EWG hook... the pond is literally 95% covered with THICK lillies and weeds, so a topwater frog or a swim jig we're my only 2 options for a long time. probably my favorite way to fish now is ripping through weeds with a 4"+ soft swimbait on a shaky head or belly weighted EWG

Well those are definitely all great baits. Unfortunately I haven't used a shakyhead much. Instead I usually throw a drop shot with a zoom z drop in green pumpkin. That's the great thing about fishing though. There's always a different technique or lure to get better at using. 👊👍

My problem is not which lures I should have, its choosing from the hundreds and hundreds I've bought over the years. Good list, but nothing surprising. I think we all have these in our kits. I can't believe you didn't bring up weedless plastics, though. Swimbaits, though, man, I catch a lot of fish with them. Ive been killing the crappie game with them too. I love getting me 30 crappie (our daily limit) in the morning, and frying up Golden Crispies from their filets. It's my favorite thing to do with my 10yo nephew. He's always so proud that he's feeding the family. But I've been teaching him to bass fish lately as well. Im looking forward to him being legally old enough to go boating alone (14 here), as im building him a 14 custom jon boat.

Try throwing wacky right afterwards to where you had a strike come off your search bait of choice. (I use the 3.8" paddle tail swimbait as my best search bait and when I miss one, I switch rods immediately and aim/throw a weightless wacky 5" senko to that spot and they hammer it.)
