@@rhmayer1 one bad season due to injury (still wrecked games when he came back and the first game) . Still very well deserves to be considered the 1 or 2 edge defender behind the current DPOY, but wouldn’t be surprised if he gets another DPOY or multiple in the next 5 years.

@@KdaB79 I wouldn't argue against what you say. He's one of the greats. But not really a pure edge rusher since he's a LB in a 3-4 defense.

@@rhmayer1 which is honestly what makes him the premier edge rusher- he didn’t even rush every play, I think 80 ish percent- the year he tied the sack record in 15 games. If he was a full time DE/ pass rusher the record would’ve been broken by 3 to 5 sacks I’d wager.

Broncos are ultimately underrated, especially because we suck sometimes but they are truly underrated, broncos have always had at least one beast of a pass rusher

Interesting that DPOY Nick Bosa was so far down the list, though the leading sacker. If not one of the highest off the ball speed what, I wonder, was his major success factor? Obviously there is a lot of technique, not to mention raw power. My guess is that's it - best technique(s) combined with best raw power plus good but not best explosive speed off the line.

its simpler than that. He has a bunch of elite talent next to him which makes it easier for him to win even without top level athleticism. Garret wins, when he basically a 1 man show. same with Von and a lot of these guys mentioned. Nick is aided by having a lot of help around him.

@@DorkJelly Who exactly are you referring to as "a bunch of elite talent next to him?" The next closest to elite is Arik Armstead and he was on the bench, injured, for most of the (early) season. Charles Omenihu and Samson Ebukam, playing the other edge, are/were good, but elite? I may be wrong, but I don't think there's another edge rusher in the league who is as successful while being double-teamed as Nick Bosa. He's also held frequently without it being called, also probably more than any other edge rusher. Would you take Garret or Von over Nick? No disrespect at all for them, but I wouldn't.

I’m not sure what this says about Aidan Hutchinson with 9.5 sacks last season. He meets the minimum criteria of five sacks, but doesn’t have the “get-off” and “time-to-hit” speed?

Maybe, similar to why Bosa wasn't at the top of that list even though he led the league in sacks and was DPOY - maybe Hutchinson has excellent technique (swim moves, etc.) and power instead of get-off and time-to-hit.

I asked the same thing to myself. I think it's because they weren't looking at 2 other critical success indicators: technique (swim moves, etc.) and raw power. I think the league's sack leader and DPOY maybe has the best techniques + best power + very good but not best/fastest speed off the line + very good but not best/quickest time-to-hit. Remember, they were only looking at speed off the line and time-to-hit which are NOT the only success factors for edge rushers. That's my thinking, anyway. The guy was digging into stats. There are no direct stats for how good their technique is or how powerfully they can move people.

@@ooflexin4630 You're right. Just checked ESPN's Cowboy's Depth Chart. He's the RDE. My bad. Wait. Hmm. On his ESPN bio page he's listed as linebacker. Anyway, there's apparently some confusion. My guess is that they didn't include him because at least some people understand him to be primarily a linebacker. Wikipedia lists him as a linebacker, but lower in the text they say they converted him to defensive end when DeMarcus Lawrence broke his foot early in the 2021 season. I think he initially signed as a LB and then they moved him to DE to initially replace the injured Lawrence. But I guess when Lawrence recovered they moved Parsons to the other side, still using him as DE.
