I bought a 70l version of this bagpack and... I can't go back and lower my standards. The top bag is a fantastic feature- I use it for food storage, so I can grab snacks without digging through my stuff and simply carry it around the camp with all my essentials. Lately I have noticed that Decathlon had increased their offer of outdoor gear and improved their quality. When someone starts asking about the entry lvl gear for bushcraft or outdoor activities- Decathlon- thats the easiest, affordable and all-in-one-place to gear up.

The small pocket inside the backpack is actually for putting tour name tag wwhen ever you checked the bag orr leavt it somewhere else. Also the rain cover comes with 2 carrying handle and a pull tab to cover the whole bbag when you checked your luggage for flight. It will protect all the buckles from got stuck on the troylley and broken :)

good to see some Decathlon (a French company) products are tough. it’s a hit and miss thing. their hiking, mountaineering product brands are called Forclaz and Quechua. Decathlon also sells camping gears like tents, cooksets, stoves, and even outdoor clothing like base layers, fleece jackets, down jackets, rain pants and rain jackets. and their prices are very competitive compared to US brands…

I believe Osprey manufactures in Vietnam (they were also bought out in 2021). I have a Farpoint 40 from them and I think it's fantastic quality so no complaints. I'm European but here it's exactly the same issue with a lot of products getting replaced by dirt cheap off-brand garbage from Asia. We use it for the string on the rain cover. When you fully pull the rain cover over the bag, including the orange part, it fully encapsulates it and turns the bag into a carry bag. So that when checking it as baggage for a plane, all of the handles are secured and do not catch onto anything, including the string itself.

@@bobbys1308 Mine has been great, considering it is currently priced at GBP £45 here in the UK. It is essentially a frameless backpack though, so limits the weight as well as size of what you can carry. I have used mine for 24-48 hour trips only. The side pockets and compression straps can be used to expand the load, ideally of long thin items. Due to UK weather conditions, I try to put as much inside as possible using a roll-top liner to keep it dry. A one man tent, tarp, sleeping bag, stove, fuel and spare clothes for 1 day is no problem. I believe it's for stashing the excess string if you wish to completely cover the bag when transporting the bag through customs etc. If you pull the drawstring tight to cover the whole bag there is a bunch of excess line which can be stashed inside the pocket so it's not loose. It looks good and it is significantly less expensive than Eberlestock. Eberlestock makes some great gear.

Good review and impressive results on your drag test. Now go try an American made bag. Your money will go to at least 20 families once you consider the supply chain involved. Where would you rather that $ goes?

While the opening scene was epic, it would have been a lot better if you keep it as a continuous cut so that we could see that you didn't swap out the bag.

Nice video and cool drag test. I’m an ALICE pack vet myself (been out a long time) and have some Osprey and also GORUCK. Just curious about that radio - also a ham radio operator (callsign KI4ASK). What radio is that you have? RLTW

That pocket may for packing the rain cover into itself. Some rain covers on civvie packs do that.
