The most toxic part of monster hunter is probably the speed running community. It's mostly chill but since it's the only real competitive part of the game it attracts THOSE kinds of people. There have been so many cheating scandals. (Still not as bad as people using mods to see DPS and yelling at people who have lower DPS than themselves)

I recall MH community being pretty toxic all the way back since ps2 days take it from me who experienced that toxic aspect for quite a long time, I got ridiculed and made fun of because I didn’t play it right like they do or do things by their standards , I only manage to find pretty chill community group years later probably around when 4th gen came out and I was playing mostly God Eater and Gods Eater Burst along with PSU, but yeah even now where you can find pretty chill groups there are pretty toxic ones still around that sadly make up the percentage also

no community can be pure, once it gets to a certain size the socially inept out number the mentally stable 10:1 and always leads to taking sides over random things. from complaining about unnecessary things to gate keeping people who have genuine issues with the game, it's exhausting that everything is black and white and there's just not enough people available to call out a superficial argument for what it is cause if the whole taking sides blurs the lines so much
@johnsober3 ай бұрын
Ehhh, it's probably (or I prefer to think it is) just the vocal minority thing. The larger a community, the bigger (in absolute terms) that vocal minority is. If you have 100 people in a community and 1 person (1%) goes off on an unhinged rant ever so often, that's 1 unhinged rant you're gonna have the misfortune of experiencing sometimes. But if it's 10,000 people and 5 people (0.05%) go off on unhinged rants ever so often, that's a lot more you're gonna have to hear, even though statistically, the community has improved. And even if you're aware it's a vocal minority, our natural tendency for negative bias is gonna kick in.

Every fandom gets toxic the bigger they get, it's an inevitable thing that unfortunately happens no matter how "chill" the fandom may look at a glance. In my experience as a fanartist, every single outrage that I've been in sparked because some people just couldn't accept that their favorite media content has, or can have, glaring flaws. Every single time I've interacted with them, they took it as personal insult whenever I voiced my criticism and tried their hardest to strawman my argument at every given opportunity. Eventually I grew tired of constantly having to deal with those kinds of people in my dms and left every fandom for good. To me MH fandom is no different from say Sonic fandom or MHA fandom (some of the most notorious fandoms I've been in). I believe the notion of MH fandom being relatively "chill" simply comes because the fandom collectively agrees that every entry of the series had a certain charm to it, no matter how bad their mechanics may have been - so they all share a common ground to some extent

@@goofyahhvalstraxproductions There are _a lot_ more than plenty of people in the fandom that regularly curse and go as far as threaten the devs, you just haven't seen what lies below the tip of the iceberg. For example during Dos era there used to be a viral quote among japanese fandom, "TNKSN", which was straight up a short for "Die, Tanaka". (For context, Tanaka was responsible for things such as "desire sensors" and palette swaps for subspecies, which majority of fandom found extremely lazy and lacking in quality) Heck, even in Iceborne there was a viral quote that basically _prayed_ for Ichihara to step down

The most toxic thing in the MH community is the gen war and superior complex of gens. Old gen players love to shit on new players and act superior and new gen players like to ask for the game to get easier.
@daviddinges91683 ай бұрын
I will admit I don't want it to keep getting easier. But other than that I love helping out new players, whenever I'm playing, if I'm not playing with a friend or my wife I'm almost always just doing sos hunts to help out lol. @@daviddinges9168 like it has soon been 7 years since world dropped. GU in not that much older than world either but 4th gen players like to call world players casuals and new to monster hunter. The only players that shoudl have that opinion is those that started with the first ever game. Hopefully they make Wilds harder than ever to show "veterans" that new games doesn't always become easy. World for a new player could 100% be hard but since those that had already played a monster hunter game already learnt the mechanics it will 100% be easier thqn ur first title. Most players don't understand that if u already know the basics of a game it will not be as hard as when u first started.
@daviddinges91683 ай бұрын
@hugo-pg5tv tbh from what I've seen the difficulty argument usually comes in with world, rise, and sunbreak. But not iceborne which I find hilarious. Yes rise and sunbreak were much easier and I hope it doesn't continue down that route personally. But for world, we'll that was only up to high rank. Of course that'll be easy, the old saying I'd hear a lot is that monster hunter doesn't even start till g rank and world is proof of it. The first part is always the appetizer to hold us over. Almost like a preview and yes easier because of it. Iceborne was the true launch though and that's where difficulty became a non issue again especially with the release of the new monsters (fatalis especially). And you're right, more experience generally means an easier time as well which is also I factor, I just try to look at it objectively though. Like for rise and sunbreak, the moment you learned the new movement difficulty became a non factor in that game lol, the monsters just couldn't keep 7p XD

As much as I am happy world was successful and bought new people, it also bought kids who are so incredibly ignorant and arrogant to anything they haven’t experienced such as frontier stuff, I saw this crazy guy saying that nergigante would prey on disufroa, the second most powerful being in the franchise apart from zenith white fatalis and his only argument was that nergigante is called the eater of elders and as a result kills disufroa and how it killed a weakened shara ishvalda, a monster so weak it could not stop the hunters carving it while it was barely alive. This new audience seems to also over inflate monster abilities such as nergigante’s regeneration ect. It’s sad because I get bad vibes thinking about monsters I genuinely like because of this and when mentioning them to other people they also have the same negative energy about the monster.
