Even then he only gave her courtesy comradeship as part of their Shinobi profession but that instantly vanished the moment he went rogue. Take note of how importantly emotional it was for Sakura declaring her 'love' for him while he simply brushed it off with a simple thank you before KOing her and vanishing. His own goals always took precedant over her infatuation.

Honestly, the major issue I had with this couple isn't the couple itself, it's the fact that the story made it seem like Sakura was destined to get over Sasuke at some point and notice Naruto. Like I get the idea of it but just like NaruHina, Kishi prioritised trolling over actual quality writing again with this one. Because at one point, Sakura tried punching Sasuke when they first reunited to protect Naruto from him and tried to kill him herself for his sake. Hell, he even had Sakura willingly try to feed Naruto in Shippuden after he injured himself, she never did that with Sasuke ever. It was such a huge contrast from when she was hesitant to feed Naruto back when Kakashi was first training them too. She even threatened Sai after he noticed how worried she was about Naruto. He intentionally insulted him in front of her because he knew she was ready to defend his honor. Hell, Naruto is the reason why she even decided to become a damn medical ninja. She couldn't stand seeing her friend get hurt over and over for her sake so she wanted to stand by him and help him in return. Also what the hell was that talk about feelings with Yamato when Sakura was crying about not being able to properly help Naruto again after turning four tails? And while on that subject, the hug, why was she the one that got to hug him after he defeated Nagato and not Hinata? I thought that was supposed to be Hinata's moment? Wasn't the plan this whole time to be NaruHina/SasuSaku, what the heck was that? Everything she did was for Naruto, never Sasuke yet her feelings said otherwise? That's what frustrates me because Kishi is having her say one thing but has her do something completely contradictory. Like if she's supposed to be in love with Sasuke, why are the most selfless and romantic looking things she's done throughout the series was for Naruto and not Sasuke? Like yeah the fake confession thing was bad but that doesn't really remove all of the things she has done for Naruto throughout the series. She went from seeing him as a major nuisance to actually wanting to see him achieve his goals and be happy to the point where whenever somebody questions Naruto as a person, she's ready to defend how great of a person he actually is. She has never done that with Sasuke, heck, I'm pretty sure she doesn't even approve of his "goals" and has never shown to give him support out of selfless reasons. She only wanted to "support" him because she apparently "loves" him, that's it. Meanwhile, she supports Naruto 24/7 without any reason other than she just wants to see her friend succeed in life. And it's not like that's just limited to Sakura either. We've seen time and time again how much Naruto was willing to set aside his own feelings if it meant making Sakura happy. Their supportiveness of one another is mutual, unlike SasuSaku which had nothing until Boruto tried to do damage control. And people wonder why some people like NaruSaku over SasuSaku? It also doesn't help that Sasuke has treated her like complete crap throughout the entire series. Like Naruto at least was indifferent towards Hinata for the most part, Sasuke straight up tried to kill Sakura on multiple occasions. It feels like Kishi wanted to do the Vegeta/Bulma thing with this couple but he failed to realise that Vegeta has never treated Bulma poorly. For one, he never attempted to murder her once. Sure he insulted her when they first met, but he was quick to bend to her will after she showed no signs of backing down. Not to mention Vegeta as time passed actually grew to love his family and acknowledged how much he's been lacking as a husband and a father and tries to make up for it. Never seen Sasuke do that because just like the excuse with Naruto in Boruto, he's always "busy"..... sigh... Like yeah, he clearly loves his family now but they never show it. Kishi really has a huge exposition problem with this kind of stuff. Also, unlike Bulma is with Vegeta, Sakura feels like a completely different character with Sasuke. Every time she's with him, she becomes a complete doormat that feels like a stuttering Hinata clone. Her spunkiness and opinionated nature goes out the window as soon as he's in the picture. Also, it's small but I like how Kishi completely forgot that it was Naruto that complimented Sakura about her forehead disguised as Sasuke so does Sakura still not know that yet? Lol If you ask me, the story should've ended with Sasuke dead because I feel like that was the only way he could actually be redeemed because talking about this now, I'm starting to have problems with his friendship with Naruto. Because honestly, Shikamaru looks more of a best friend to Naruto than Sasuke ever was if you really sit down and think about it, lol Or the other alternative would be like if the idea was to have Sasuke be shy around Sakura, why not have instead of having Sasuke question why she even likes him, have him show some form of regret of leaving her? Have him wonder why he feels heavy every time his thoughts go back to Sakura? Have Sakura actually call him out on his wrongdoings and show him flabbergasted by it. Instead of trying to stab her, have him hesitate to even touch her right before Naruto makes the save. Just SOMETHING to show some form of attraction from his end. With Sakura, just don't have her be a friggin doormat around him. Have her treat him like how she treats Naruto and Sai, that way it would feel more natural. I would've loved to see Sakura put Sasuke in his place the same way Bulma does Vegeta when he acted out and it would help with her character development too. There's a reason people love that relationship, especially in Dragon Ball Super while SasuSaku remains controversial even to this very day...

We get told this and that about Sasuke and Sakura but we never SEE it happen and what we do see only reinforces the argument that they’re just unhealthy for each other. I know Sasuke Retsuden tries to make their chemistry appear more natural, or convince us that it exists at all, but Sasuke’s contemplation and actions just convinces me that he doesn’t romantically care about Sasuke. Maybe he appreciates her more and likes her far more than he did when he was a teen but without telling Sakura or showing that he cares or admitting he needs to do better as Sakuras husband, all his thinking won’t matter in the end if there’s no action following it. And you know how I know I’m convinced of this? Because if it had been Naruto in Sasuke’s position, the difference in behavior toward Sakura would be NIGHT AND DAY.

@@DayDayDoes the issue really with Sasuke Retsuden is that it feels like both Sasuke and Sakura are completely different characters, especially Sasuke. Like Boruto in general tries convince us that Sasuke was a jerk to Sakura simply because he's too shy to admit his true feelings, aka, what Toriyama did with Vegeta when it comes to Bulma. The difference is nothing about that makes any sense because the only basis Kishi has for that is when Sasuke said goodbye to her in Part 1 and even that didn't indicate any romantic feelings towards her. And the fact that again, he tried to kill her multiple times and even undermined her feelings for him by questioning what she even sees in him doesn't help. Toriyama at least showed how much Vegeta actually loves Bulma. Not only did Toriyama have Vegeta admit he's been a bad dad to Trunks, he even had Vegeta say to Trunks to go apologize to Bulma for him for being an ungrateful husband right before he sacrificed himself to try and save everyone. Heck, he even went rage mode against the God of Destruction when he sees her get slapped by him and actually screamed "MY BULMAAAA!!!", has Sasuke ever done something like that? And again, the fact that both Vegeta and Bulma don't feel like totally different characters when they're seen together onscreen helps too. Neither character loses their individuality while Sakura turns into a generic Hinata clone and Sasuke turns into an even more awkward version of Sai. Both their spunk and opinionated nature gets squashed in favor of the bland, whatever the hell 'chemistry' Kishi thinks they supposedly have. Seriously, why do these two act like themselves the most around Naruto but not with each other? I get that it's supposed to show how much Naruto means to the two of them but come on now. Then again, Naruto himself also loses his personality whenever he's with Hinata but not with Sasuke or Sakura so I guess it all evens out? Lol It feels like Kishi tried to do what Toriyama did but failed to understand what made it work. It felt more like he was trying to make their relationship look bad on purpose while trying to convince us they're meant to be. I honestly don't know which couple got the worse treatment tbh. Naruto getting slapped with the stupid stick and being guilt tripped into falling for Hinata via genjutsu against his will or Sasuke magically having feelings for Sakura with the only justification is because they have a daughter together and yet Sasuke barely shows any affection even after that. I may be looking at it from a Western lense but no woman should have to feel like a single mother for 13 years doing all the physical and emotional labor in a one-sided marriage while the husband remains absent from not just her life, but also the child’s. Even the new Sasuke novel confirms that he didn’t realize couples being around each other consistently was important or supposed to be a thing! And she does become a medical ninja to contribute and catch up to her team, though I don’t recall saying otherwise. However I do want to make a rebuttal. My preference for a canon NS is not because of SP. I loathe SP with a burning passion and have only ever used evidence from the manga to see that NS was a viable option. Kishimoto himself has said on record that the NS moments in the manga were a “red herring” from the “true pairing” which is dumb because he only confused his audience and made the end pair of NH and SS look terrible and a laughing stock. Especially because of how awful Sasuke’s actions towards Sakura were towards the latter half of the manga. A simple “sorry” isn’t going to cut it. Plus he caused so much unnecessary discourse and fight between his audience instead of building up the canon couples. It’s not smart and super messy.

Sasuke, in the original feelings for Sakura, was a comrade at best and apathetic at worst. In Shippuden, his attitude towards her is indifferent to malicious. It’s 15 years of content and most of which is negative interactions. Sakura does all the labor in that relationship (emotional work, child rearing, finances, housework, and saving his ass). Sasuke, on the other hand, is never home, and all the information gathered against the Otsosuki he finds is useless until Sarada is 12. While I’m enjoying Sasuke Retsuden, It does not make up for 15 years of apathy and malicious actions toward each other. I do not believe Kishimoto is bad at Romance. He did fine with Minato x Kushina, Tsunade x Dan, and Koran x Yahico, and he did a decent job developing the relationship between Naruto and Sakura. He did not care for now NH and SS and gave them the bare minimum because the fandom preferred these two relationships more. The only thing holding their marriages together is the delusion and what the women are willing to put up with. It’s not all bad. I do love fan art and fanfiction, and I do love Sarada. If they did more to develop the relationship, I would be down for it.

Nah fr I'm a Sakura fan myself and I dislike SasuSaku because Sasuke treated Sakura like crap and he's not good for her mental health. Like you mentioned, Sasuke tried to kill sakura, belittled and disrespected her, etc. On top of that, after they had Sarada, he just leaves them for 10+ years making Sakura a single mom who raises Sarada all by herself...like WTAF? Sasuke didn't even visit them once during the decade (like bro, out of the ten years you couldn't even take out a single day to visit your wife and daughter?). He's a deadbeat dad and a deadbeat husband. Sasuke honestly should've just stayed single and alone, he was better off that way. Also, Sakura had wayy more chemisty with Naruto and she should've either ended up with him or maybe even Rock Lee (they would've treated her so much better). Or, I wouldn't mind if Sakura just became single and independent, focusing on being head of the medical department, doing missions, taking care of the orphanages/children's mental health clinics she found/owns, teaching medical ninjutsu, etc and just living her life and having fun. She deserved so much better than that emo duck. But then again, most SasuSaku are usually pretty young, between the ages of like 11 to young adulthood. So, they don't really understand how toxic SS is. A relationship like SS in real life would result in the girl needing so much therapy to heal afterwards.

Kishimoto was extremely biased towards Sasuke and it shows in all Sasuke's relationships. He betrayed Naruto? Naruto thinks he is his best friend. He tried to kill Karin? She forgives him almost instantly. Sakura actually isn't the most egregious example. Sasuke killed Kimimaro's master (Orochimaru). Despite this, Jugo is loyal to Sasuke because..he thinks that Kimimaro would want that. He abandoned Jugo and Suigetsu (he would've used them as meat shields like Karin if given the chance) but they still came crawling back to him. He even makes the villains obsess over him. He betrays Orochimaru but Orochimaru later on comes back, and wants to help him.

To be fair he freed Suigetsu from the water tank prison thing and helped him get Zabuza's sword plus Suigetsu's very laid back and clearly likes fighting and being near Sasuke, he could easily vanish at any time and Sasuke wouldn't even have a reason to chase him As for Jugo him being loyal to Kimimaro makes sense, Sasuke is considered to be a Momento of Kimimaro so by protecting him his best and first friend's spirit lives on, and neither him nor Kimmimaro should be loyal to Orochimaru at all since the guy just took advantage of them and used them in experiments so Jugo should be pleased Sasuke killed him off, also Sasuke provides the use of his sharingan to calm down Jugo's rage allowing him to experience live outside a prison etc so they are "friends" for a reason, and to be fair Jugo of all characters would be a poor judge of friends since he's so mentally unstable so he wouldn't notice or mind in the fight v Killer B Sasuke does look at team Taka as a reflection of Team 7 and they seem to be friends, but..that is before he betrays Karin and yeah past the Kage summit it's very odd that Taka/Orochimaru all join up and help him, even them agreeing to help Orochimaru at all is very weird

Sasuke feels jaded and depressed to me, it seems like he gave up on everything he ever wanted. He wanted to repopulate his clan so he would need a girl for that at one day but he get's forced into a marriage, a daughter and that's it, once she grows up to marry, Uchiha name is gone. He seems completely antisocial, not even understanding the basic human interaction, yet alone a romantic one. Sakura should've just moved on, that would be the best character development for her.

As much as I like Sasuke I agree, however when his entire clan was killed in front of eyes it was sort of “replayed” with itachi’s genjitu for thousands of times, so it makes sense he’d go insane. I’m gonna be honest, if Kishimoto said Sasuke was asexual and/or aromantic. I would have completely believed him. He just never, throughout the entire series, ever expressed any feelings towards anyone (and yes that also includes Naruto. His feelings towards him were entirely based around brotherhood and mutual respect. Love never entered the equation and the few times it did, like their kiss, it was treated as a joke by Kishimoto. Seriously, Naruto is one of the most heteronormative series in anime. Sasuke being aromatic makes sense. To be honest, it would’ve been fine if he stayed single and him and Sakura were just co-parents to Sarada. Hell, their current relationship is practically like that, with him being an absentee parent/husband; why bother having them married or forcing a relationship? And for Sakura having Sasuke’s kid, she could just want to be a single mother and willingly choose Sasuke to be her sperm donor (or volunteered to be his baby maker to keep his bloodline alive). Honestly, I would prefer it if Sakura just moved on from Sasuke. She acknowledges her feelings for him were just an adolescent crush and she tries to find someone who will actually love her in return. This would have given her something she doesn't have in the series and that’s a character arc. Sure at the end of the day, it’s swapping one dude for another, but she’s at least proving that she can be happy without being with Sasuke. Ideally, this person should have been Naruto for many reasons, but studio Pierrot killed that idea, so Rock Lee is the next best option.

@@yuhhare2441 That's one of the problems with Kishimoto in general, he's very utilitarian with his character writing. When he creates a character, he designs them to fulfill a single or set of purposes to advance the plot and that's it. Once they have fulfilled their purpose and are no longer needed for the story, they will be tossed aside and ignored unless it somehow ties back to that singular plot function. Because of this, the cast of Naruto is incredibly flat and static, since most of them are not allowed to grow, change, or even regress out of their assigned roles since then Kishimoto wouldn't be able to tell his story. This isn't an inherently awful way of writing stories, but it also means your characters will be too busy serving the plot instead of having their stories told. Typically you want the characters and plot to work together instead of sacrificing one for the benefit of the other. There's no better example of this than with Sakura Haruno. She was designed to be the third wheel to prop up the Team 7 Love triangle, and because of that limited focus, everything she did had to in some way revolve around that plot function. Sakura becomes a ninja so she can be with Sasuke, she wants to become stronger so she can be useful to Naruto, and never develops any other desires, goals, or interests unless they also serve Naruto's or Sasuke's stories. If you removed them from the equation, then Sakura would cease to exist as a character because there is nothing about herself that sustains her as a character that exists independently of Naruto or Sasuke. Sakura's IQ could be 50 million but unless it somehow benefits Naruto or Sasuke, it's not going to mean anything.

I absolutely HATE this ship being cannon (and boruto as a whole, but that's not the point) There's just too much wrong with it. I hate not only that it was obviously done for pure fan service rather than to contribute to the story, but I also hate the message it perpetuates. Of course, fiction is fiction and it shouldn't be that deep, but it bugs me so much to see how this just reinforces the idea that in order to have a fufilling life and be respected you must get married and have kids. In order for Sasuke to be redeemed he must marry the woman he rejected over and over again and have a child. Anyone with a brain can see that, while Sasuke has improved himself and became a better person he is absolutely not suited to be a good husband or parent. The way in wich he neglects his daughter is proof of this. Why couldn't he live a good and redeemed life without the need of having a traditional family when he never showed any interest in this in the first place? Not to mention the trauma and pain he caused to Sakura and showing her still loving him and wanting to be with him is just a terrible example for young impresionable girls. IDK that's just my perspective.

This times a thousand!! Honestly Sasuke being single would have been better for him. He’s got so much to work through. Getting married only seemed to hurt Sakura and make her feel even lonelier. If she hadn’t had Sarada, I’m convinced she would have resented Sasuke. If they needed an Uchiha heir, a long lost child from Itachi or a less conventional style of parenting would have suited Sasuke. It didn’t have to be traditional, but authors and writers in media typically go that route because that’s what society expects. I’m kind of guilty of it too ngl, but at least I can acknowledge when such an ending is not suited to a particular character. Single Sasuke would have been better and made him protective of what he almost ruined for his teammates because of his actions.

In my opinion, this ship shows why Sasuke is an extremely poorly written character. People think it's just an issue with Sakura's writing and Sasuke is fine on his own. But, Sasuke gets forgiven easily by everyone. He emotionally manipulated Karin and after everything she did for him, he sacrificed her against Danzo. People forget that he was going to kill Karin too just because Tobi told him to. Despite this, Karin instantly forgave him because "he's so cute" and even helps to deliver his child.

The only reason why Sakura ended up with Sasuke is because Hinata ended up with Naruto...but this is not gonna change the fact that Naruhina is a fanservice couple it is underdeveloped because it wasn't planned. Naruto spent the entire manga ( years in-universe) loving sakura he loved her all the way up to the end of the war arc. Hinata was very clearly meant to be a side character with an unrequited crush, but she became a victim of her own popularity and go shoehorned into a position she was never meant to be in. I was super confused when I first read chapter 700 naruto never had any interest in hinata and sasuke any in sakura, yet out of nowhere they're married because they need kids for the sequel series, Boruto Fans didn't want to see Sakura with Naruto, I remember Kishimoto's interview in jump fiesta 2014 at the end of Naruto with Kobayashi, he literally admited that he has received a lot of hate letters from fans about Sakura, and that Hinata like Sakura didn't anything but her popularity just kept going up for reasons he ignored and that part way the story he started thinking whether he should make her the main heroine instead or at least gradually write her into direction of the heroine. At the end of the interview he downright confirms that the reason he did so was because Sakura was hated and he was pushed into making Hinata the new heroine of Naruto.

Ino dodged a huge bullet there. I’m glad she at least got to have a happy ending with a man who treats her right. Looking back now I can’t help but feel that this is the world’s way of punishing Sakura for throwing away a good and healthy friendship for a guy who would never make her happy and whole; just because her friend just so happened to crush on him as well. Never mind that her friend had no intention of making her crush known to her and was perfectly happy to continue their friendship without any drama getting in the way. Sadly Sakura just can’t seem to content with the idea of having normal healthy relationships with anyone. Anytime someone like Ino, Naruto, or Lee comes along and offers her an alternative she IMMEDIATELY picks the most toxic option available. I wish there was an in-story reason for this warped mindset she has. After going through both pairings again, I just noticed another factoid about them. By any chance, did you also notice that both Naruto and Sakura didn't try to pursue one another simply because they both thought they would both be the happiest with the person that apparently "loved" them from the start? I don't know about you but the more I think about this, the more I notice why Kishi has failed to make both NaruHina and SasuSaku look legit. By trying way too hard to troll people and appeal to angsty teenagers, he unintentionally made NaruSaku look like the healthiest pairing out of all of them. At this point, they look like they're each others' "the one that got away" even when it's unintentional. Maybe because I am super into fashion and Sasuke always gets and has really good outfits meanwhile Sakura is the biggest fashion offender in the show. Pink (hair) and red (Sakura's outfit) also look really bad together. The bangle on her wrist is weird. Her NH wedding outfit was awful while everyone else was dressed to the 9s. SasuSaku is by far the WORST pairing to ever exist in anime history and this is a hill I am willing to die on. When you have even the writer himself, Misashi Kishimoto, openly admit that Sakura's love for Sasuke is more akin to addiction and any reason would be contrived you have done something VERY wrong. (For the love God, Yes Kishimoto actually said this. Look it up. This was around the NYCC 2015 interviews he said all this.) Not only that, but even Kishimoto's own wife protested to NaruSaku not happening according Kishimoto himself. The only reason SS got canon was I believe to get Sakura AND Sasuke away from Naruto so Hinata can have a chance because we all know that if Naruto truly had a choice, he would pick Sasuke and Sakura any day over Hinata. Combine that with the blatant denials of "Sasuke didn't know he loved Sakura. He loved her since the beginning. They understand each other." Did you all really read the same manga? Chapter 693 Sasuke says and I quote: "Did she have fun living in her fantasy world? I see no reason why she should love me and I have NO REASON why I should love her." How much clearer can you get? The man cannot say no loud and they still act like he was indecisive. Like he didn't know. Oh and all of this even after Naruto openly admitted and telling Sai that he loved Sakura. Sai: "Even I can tell that Naruto is in love with you." It got so bad that in the Naruto the Last movie that had to make Naruto believe he didn't know what love was and he only loved people due to his rivalry with Sasuke which makes him an even bigger scumbag than any other character in the series. Like, what was the point of all this drama if it meant NOTHING? I can go on and on, but people love being in denial and I am sick of Naruto anyway. Honestly, the cute filler interactions between Sakura and Sai had me rooting for the two of them to get together out of team 7. It's crazy that Kishimoto has said that he knew from the beginning that NaruHina and SasuSaku were where he was taking things (in the latter's case, he outright told Sasuke and Sakura's voice actors early on that their characters were going to end up together), but this isn't reflected at all in the actual development behind any of the big 2 canon couples. That, and he's also admitted to deliberately doing things like paralleling Sakura to Naruto's mother in order throw people off on who Naruto would end up with. If even half the effort Kishimoto put into setting up NaruSaku as a red-herring went into NaruHina and SasuSaku, I think far less people would have been upset with those pairings being canon.

In all honesty I was so pissed off when Sasuke got together with Sakura and Naruto with Hinata. Naruto and Sakura’s relationship was set up since like chapter 3 and then it all got retconned. No idea if you are still reading comments on a video this old, but I wanted to say thank for voicing pretty much every reason SasuSaku is in my opinion one of the worst pairings I ever seen in any work of fiction in my entire life. I think a big part of why it irks me still almost 10 years later is that while I have seen relationships that were as bad if not worse than SasuSaku like the relationship between Light and Misa in Death Note and the relationship between the Joker and Harley Quinn from Batman. But I do not believe I have ever seen a work of fiction with a relationship this bad where the source material itself did not make it clear that the relationship was deeply unhealthy at best and made it clear that there was no excusing the abuser's shitty behavior.

Really I think the problems with NaruHina can be summed up with 3 points. 1st, they had almost no interactions in the manga. If you cut out every piece where the two actually interact over the 700 chapter run, I doubt you would have enough to fill a single chapter. 2nd. Hinata's character was almost completely defined by her relationship with Naruto. I remember being absolutely shocked when Hinata was gushing internally about Naruto holding her hand and I was thinking "I get that holding hands is a bigger deal in Japan than in the US but your cousin just died violently in front of you save your life and you are on cloud nine because of a non-romantic hand holding?!" 3rd. The way the Last approached making the ship happen was just insulting. They could have just had a story line showing that after the war, Naruto and Hinata started seeing each other more and the former started developing feelings for the latter which lead to them eventually get married which would have been okay at least. But instead they tried to force idea that Naruto was always loved Hinata, he just did not realize it. It may not be toxic in of itself or abusive like SasuSaku, but NaruHina quite possibly the most forced ship I have ever seen.

I watched this to the very end. And girl, you are very right. You made every point. As much as I am not a Sakura fan, thanks to your video, I was able to be more sympathetic with her despite everything being her choice. It is sad that actually she wins nothing out of everything in total. It also opened my eyes to how toxic Sasuke is as a man in a relationship, despite the fact I am actually not ever a shipper of those two, I can only see people ship them because of how they visually compliment each other in terms of character design and colors. To be fair, I don't pay much attention to Sakura in the show, and when I do, she acts like a hopeless romantic and does incredibly self damaging decisions I can't get behind. Nonetheless, I do see that Sasuke is a serious part of the problem. My full conclusion, in short, is that Sakura and Sasuke are not ever going to be healthy or a good couple. There is no amount of redeeming that can ever occur that would make these two together, ever be good for each other. Especially when love is built with reciprocated feelings not by one sided ones. They are the worst example of how a relationship should be. It is just very sad.

Like you, I love the character of Sakura, from the first moment I saw the anime I literally reflected in her and being her fan I always hoped the best for her and her character. Sasuke does not fulfill this role, on the contrary, it represents the obstacle to his maturation as a character; in fact, every time his character is placed next to him, his development regresses and it is a fact. Many Sakura fans say that if you don't appreciate or accept Sakura's love for Sasuke then you are not a fan. Well, I always say that Sakura's character is not based only on appearances but you have to see the substance of the facts. Kishi's intention was to portray a realistic and human girl, able to make mistakes and remedy them through experience. The exact same thing also occurs in the case of feelings: she assumes that she loves Sasuke without really knowing him (the few times they interacted it was only because they were both on the same team, you can't claim to really love a person if you don't ever had the opportunity to spend time with her and really get to know her) but at the same time she has new feelings for Naruto who instead finds it hard to understand since she doesn't know what it means to really love someone, feelings that among other things, gradually as the story goes on, they become more and more profound and realistic and in fact the ultimate goal was to make her understand that her true love is Naruto not Sasuke, the boy she thought she loved. We have all happened to fall in love / crush on the wrong man but through a growth path you understand your mistakes and move forward until you really find the guy who makes your heart beat and truly deserves your love. The journey would have ended when Sakura would have discovered that Naruto was the boy who complimented his forehead, not Sasuke (scene already present in chap 3 and also taken up through the Minakushi parallelism). Also take into account the various parallels and symbolisms in favor of the couple (the cherry blossom which blossoms in the presence of the sun and withers in the dark, the sky representing the intellect and the earth associated with physical strength and determination), Sakura is always herself with Naruto and him with her, the time spent together has allowed both of them to grow and get to know each other better, unlike Sasuke Naruto makes Sakura really happy and gives her the attention and love she needs so that can feel good about herself (referring to her large and spacious forehead, always her greatest insecurity) also counts the fact that Kishimoto himself said that Naruto is a reflection of himself while Sakura is based on a model of his wife . I get annoyed by people who say Sakura doesn't love Naruto but only Sasuke because that's what they say. In words we are all good but it is with the facts that we see the substantial difference in the two reports eg. in the chunin exam Sakura was ready to give up the exam just to not see Naruto's dream destroyed (she didn't even think about Sasuke), that in Boruto you still see Sakura as a girl with her first teenage crushes, she knows nothing about her alleged husband and is always compliant with everything her husband does while Sasuke comes and goes when he pleases and prefers to spend more time with his son of his best friend than with his own family. realistically, a relationship like the SS can never be taken to be wholesome and true and it is a fact; however, considering that we are in an idealized world where the only thing that matters are the feelings of the girls and the goal is the gain, no one cares anymore about the dynamics of the couple and prefers to live in fantasies, in which the bad boy falls in love with the girl always devoted to him

@Nukara Rikova First: I would love to know why you NH or SS fans come to the anti couple videos and criticize anyone who thinks differently. If you like NH ok, that's your taste but respect the fact that not all of us agree with you and I'll explain the various reasons why this couple doesn't work. It's not about being a NS fan or a non-shipper, it's about writing with facts. The NH is a couple that is mainly based on Hinata's feelings and how at the end of the story Naruto has to reciprocate because he can't get the girl he wants. Naruto never loved Hinata, he always saw her as a friend and nothing more (he interacted with her 3 times yes and no in the whole story and during the Pain arc Naruto transforms because he couldn't stand the fact that his friend was killed defending him, not because he had feelings for her. This is further accentuated by the fact that in later chapters he again reminds Sai of his love for Sakura.) The whole series and the fact that out of nowhere they have having to produce a film solely focused on the couple explains even more the lack of real development between the two. It's sad to say but in the end Naruto went with Hinata out of guilt and gratitude and that's a fact. Also add the total lack of chemistry between the two, neither of them knows the other well (Hinata loves an ideal of Naruto not the real him; they have never spent time together... how can you say you love a person in any sense? tight if you can't even spend time with her and get to know her well? that's just idealization. The best thing for Hinata's character would have been to let go of her unrequited crush on Naruto, mature as a character by taking Naruto as a point of reference and carry on proving to her father that she is a worthy heiress of her clan). The NH destroys both characters and neither of them is happy: Naruto always takes refuge in work and prefers to sleep in the office or on the sofa rather than being with his family, he sends the clones home (how? Naruto who has always wanted a family ? this is totally OOC) while Hinata is reduced to being a maid, she is no longer a ninja, she has no backbone to educate her children and is totally passive temperamentally speaking. Second, the main problem with NH is that you just rely on the feelings of a secondary character and never think about what the protagonist really wants and that's totally wrong. Does Hinata deserve Naruto because she always loved him? oh well naruto always loved sakura and if we are to play this silly game (love is not a prize and naruto is not a trophy) he is that he is the one who deserves it most of all. A couple, to be defined as such, needs development and feelings on both sides and unfortunately NH and SS do not have these requirements and it is a fact ... unlike the NS which instead had all the potential to become canon but unfortunately the money and the fanservice got the better of it. Also, the fact that even today there are people who come to complain about those who go against their ships despite Naruto being over for years is really funny... it just shows how insecure you too are about their development as a couple but you don't accept it. Saying this before watching the video: Looking back on it, NaruSaku does seem much more canonically proven through actions than SasuSaku. Even then though, I never really picked up on it and just thought that they were being best friends. Honestly, as much as I enjoy Naruto and Sakura's relationship (minus when they randomly make Sakura do controversial things towards him like that insane fake confession), I much prefer them as a platonic duo. Apart from Jiraiya and Naruto, Sakura and Naruto have always struck me as more of best friends or family than any other two characters. In my opinion, a large part of their relationship's beauty is how Sakura never drastically changed her mind regarding how romantically attracted to Naruto she was, regardless of whether he was an overdramatic child, or dependable leader. They give familial vibes, which I love. Regardless of how prevalent NaruSaku is, I think we can all agree that both Sasusaku and NaruSasu (SasuNaru?) are incredibly, painfully toxic and unhealthy.

NaruSaku works whether you want a platonic vibe or a romantic vibe. I appreciate that their character chemistry is one that cares about the other and sees the other for who they are and has withstood the test of time. I vibe with the romantic side because it would have completed their arcs better, but that's just me. And any relationship with Sasuke is going to need major work. Sasuke has to prove with his actions his atonement and love for his friends, family, etc because of how badly he has hurt them in the past with his actions, esp. to those who didn't deserve it. Sure I get where the ship Narusaku comes from . It’s based off there building relationship throughout shippuden . But then again look at it again , you can’t tell me that narusaku is not as toxic , mainly on sakura’s part. In part one of Naruto she literally belittles him for being an orphan and calls him annoying straight to his face and then later on never apologizes for it , and despite her efforts trying to be nicer towards Naruto and be patient with him , she fails miserably as she always ends up hitting him , calling him names , and always takes Sasuke’s side . And in part two of Naruto , sakura’s relationship with Naruto does get better and progresses more and does stand up for him and believes in him more than she did before , but that doesn’t completely sub side the fact that she tried to kill Sasuke for the sake of her not feeling the burden of Naruto getting further more hurt because of the selfish promise Naruto made for her, completely regarding Naruto’s thoughts and future feelings towards this idea , and on top of that lied to him about her reciprocating the romantic feelings Naruto had for her , also still regarding HIS feelings towards this situation . What type of friend does that , let alone a potential partner . Second off you can’t completely go off saying that SasuNaru is toxic because technically Sasuke genuinely makes up for most of the terrible situations he’s done to Naruto in shippuden during their talks in Boruto , and their talk after their final battle where he literally expressed how he truly felt about Naruto and how he feels towards him and Naruto literally said that he couldn’t live without Sasuke , and Sasuke couldn’t live without him , because Sasuke is Naruto’s other half , platonic or not . That literally explains that even if Sakura did end up with Naruto she still wouldn’t be able to fill that other half Naruto has and wouldn’t be able to understand him at all and even if she did the emotional barrier between them still wouldn’t disappear. Naruto and Sakura have a sibling like bond relationship considering sakura’s constant behavior towards him . Plus Naruto and Sasuke’s bond was interpreted wayyy too deeply to only be seen as just as friends or brothers . Naruto and sasuke have way more chemistry with each other than they do with their own wives . Sure Naruto and Sasuke might need a little more development and dedication towards their healing relationship in the end of shippuden , mainly on Sasuke’s part , but then again it still makes way more sense than any other ship in Naruto and had way more potential . So don’t go around hating on SasuNaru , saying that it’s unhealthy and toxicated , because after al, that I have explained , don’t act like Narusaku is any better

The fact that kishimoto said himself in a 2016 interview that he wasnt sure if sasuke and sakura were ACTUALLY happy and that he was still thinking of potentially making them go their separate ways (and before you guys start with the "kishi never said that" oh yes tf he did😂, he said it in an interview about the boruto movie) and in another interview kishimoto confirmed himself that sakura chased him down and kept pestering him until he finally agreed to allow her to accompany him on his journey(which is embarassing asf for sakura and takes away from SO MUCH of her developement) and to make matters worse kishi stated he NEVER wanted to create boruto or naruto:the last(movie) but instead wanted to do a naruto reboot/prequel and sasuke centric movie but studio pierrot "suggested"(which is in actuality a more gentle way of saying "forced") the boruto and changed the whole premise of the last movie to focus on hinata ( because no naruto+hinata means no boruto) and the fact that the whole basis of their relationship is sarada's existence is like kishi didnt even attempt to sort out their relationship

I discovered Naruto back in 2006 when I was a wee 12 year old lol. My cousin had been in the middle of watching it, so the very first scene I ever saw was Sakura’s inner monologue about raising her hand for Naruto during the chunin exams. Honestly, I'm right there with you on having been an early fan of Sakura. I was...13? 14?...when the anime was localized for the States and besides Naruto, latched onto Sakura. Even then I recognized that Sasuke did NOT reciprocate Sakura's feelings toward him, and hoped her arc would involve maturing and growing to love Naruto. And I felt the Chunin Exams were going to the start of that journey; and I was _half_ right, before I ultimately became sadly mistaken. To me, the real problem(s) with Sakura's character, the ones that get the fandom to meme Sakura into oblivion, is that 1) Her name isn't Naruto or Sasuke therefore she isn't allowed to outshine them in any respect, and if anything has to be reduced to a tool to highlight (mainly) Naruto's development, and 2) Actual *years* of character development were thrown out the window in having her get with Sasuke. The only reason I can think Kishi made SasuSaku canon would be because he decided to make NaruHina endgame, and decided to throw Sakura a romantic bone (pun somewhat intended) by having her get her misguided girlhood dream - Sasuke. I don't even think there needed to be big tweaks to the canon story and presentation thereof to deliver a NaruSaku endgame that would have been emotionally fulfilling and healthy. Have Sakura be the one to free Naruto during his battle with Pain and then get impaled, because that makes so much more sense storywise, with their relationship having so much more development, that the emotional impact of Sakura sacrificing herself for Naruto in that moment is there for both us the readers and Naruto, to justify his rampage; as the scene exists in canon, it only works for the Hinata stans. When Sakura makes her "fakefession" to Naruto, have a panel where Naruto's lip is quivering and he's tensing his fist, because the girl he's in love with just bold-faced lied to his face about liking him, which in his mind means she really doesn't love him back. When Naruto swoops in to save Sakura from Sasuke, give a quick panel of her looking up at him blushing and a look that can be interpreted as "Oh my..." When Sakura rejects the love letter from that Iwa ninja, don't linger on her and show us what she's thinking; keep it a mystery. The biggest thing I think would need to be changed is fleshing out the moment during the war when she's manually pumping Naruto's heart. When she's afraid he's going to die, I'd invoke that Trinity-Neo scene from the first Matrix movie. But instead of an outright love connection, she tells Naruto all the things about him she thinks are wonderful: his determination, his kindness, how he never gave into darkness despite how much he had been mistreated all his life. As the climax of that moment, she tells him she won't allow him to die, not before she's had the chance to apologize and make up for what she did in the Land of Iron, and she's fine if he hates her afterward, as long as it means he's alive. From there, Sakura doesn't do any confessing to Sasuke during the final showdown with Kaguya, or offer to join him on his journey of atonement. The biggest change would be The Last movie, with the whilole structure needing a ground-up reworking. Here, it would be about how Naruto and Sakura's relationship officially blossoms into romance, as well as Hinata's reaction to it and her emotional arc to move on, and tie up loose ends on the Team 7 triangle. They can also expand Sasuke's role - after he's found a collapsed Hiashi, have him offer to join the mission; this could make things awkward between him, Naruto and Sakura, mainly on the latter two's end, but it can also serve as an opportunity to highlight their growth and maturity that they're able to work through it and resolve the issues, rather than leave them simmering beneath the surface like they did as kids. And since Sakura is taking the place of Hinata as Naruto's love interest in this movie, Sasuke can take Sakura's canon role as the one who encourages the romantic development. For the climax of the fight with Toneri, when he's drained Naruto's chakra, have Sakura use Yin Seal: Release, and transfer her chakra into Naruto, who uses it to form a giant pink Rasengan that resembles a flurry of cherry blossom petals blowing in the wind, before Sakura uses the last of her strength to fling Naruto at Toneri to land the finishing blow. Also, take out the red scarf subplot because that was *not* a good look for Hinata; Kushina scarf supremacy. For the ultimate ending (the New Era), Naruto and Sakura have their two children. Not much really needs to change with Boruto beyond the shape of his face and eyes, I guess. The biggest difference would be their daughter, who I would make look like a pink-haired Kushina, or a redheaded Sakura (where the Uzumaki red hair gene works like IRL red hair which can skip a generation). I imagine her name being Konohana, combining the mythological theme of Kushina with the cherry blossom theme of Sakura, while also mirroring the Third Hokage and Konohamaru where a child is given a name with "Konoha", after the village. And just imagine it - ninja who could move around the battlefield with Flying Thunder God Technique, while throwing punches able to shatter boulders.

You aren't a Sakura fan. You are a NaruSaku who only likes Sakura together with Naruto as a prize. NaruSaku objectifies Sakura. She is just a prize for Naruto. The ship requires all of Sakura's thoughts & feelings to be erased, ignored, or changed. It's 100% giving Naruto what HE wanted & just sticking Sakura with the guy she never liked.. NaruSaku and self inserts were the white knight, "nice guy", "Cyrano's", while Sakura to to them represented the popular girl they could never get despite showering her with all sorts of affection and nice gestures. Sasuke represented the rival guy. You all believe Naruto's feelings for Sakura represented some kind of tragic love story where he gave up on his non-existent promise to win her heart, and that he went back on his word. They expected Naruto to get the girl and humiliate Sasuke. That's why you're are still so bitter, you didn't get the full progression you wanted. You all were all trying to live vicariously through Naruto. The NaruSaku narrative was all about a guy insistently pursuing a pretty, girl that wouldn't give him the time of day. It was all about how he, the "nice guy" would win her heart at the end, and that he could get her to see that the evil popular guy was trash, while he the nice guy by being by her side at all times was truly deserving of her affection.

Sasuke doesn't hate Sakura. Besides him going nuts at the 5 Kage summit, he's always had a soft spot for her vs anyone else in the series.(Besides Sarada now) I know this is your interpretation, but there are a bunch of misconception right from the start. 1. Sasuke never told Sakura about the Uchiha. He started to mention Itachi, but stopped. 2. Sakura did not know the Uchiha Clan was killed. Before Sasuke left the village, she mentioned she finally read up on the Uchiha Clan. 3. Sasuke was the one that mention Naruto doesn't have parents. Sakura mentioned that Naruto is selfish and if she did what he did her parents would nag her. Sasuke then explained that Naruto is alone that's why he's selfish, it doesn't compare to nagging parents, and then called her annoying. After that, Sakura was actually thinking about Naruto. Wondering if he actually felt alone and decided to be nicer to him. 4. About Sasuke and Sakura trying to kill each other. I mean.. they're sending to kids to war. 5. Sasuke calling Sakura annoying is similar to Sasuke calling Naruto a loser. He doesn't mean as something bad. 6. Sasuke did smile at Sakura. 7. Sakura will literally die to protect Konoha if have too. Minato/Kushina both died to protect Konoha and Naruto. Itachi killed his family to protect Konoha and Sasuke. Rin love Kakashi, but she gave her life to protect Konoha and Kakashi. Sakura would 100% do the same for the village. We gotta understand they put the village over everything. She understand the role Sasuke play to protect Konoha. Sad truth is they don't live in a world where they put their family, friends, before their home. 8. Obito had trouble with his eyes. The Sharingan was never said to give you perfect vision.
