Because robot chicken is on an adult TV station during a late night timeslot when most kids aren't even awake. It's exclusively marked for adults, KZbin doesn't do that aside from age restrictions and KZbin kids. Also Sega is actually cool and lets fan projects exist and embrace them like with mania. Nintendo is extremely cautious with their characters, taking down fangames and dangerous content that could get them sued because it was their character. It was A mario plushie, not a likeness of mario.

I think this is an amazing way to cope with the death of a series you loved. I feel like you don't make something like this unless you're passionate about the reference material, and I think that there's a lot of passion in this project. I really wish people would stop overusing the term "ARG" to refer to anything with interactivity and a horror focus. The point and click adventure games remind me of Flash games from back in the 2000s. We just enjoyed those things for what they were, back then. Suddenly, a couple of Slenderman ARGs get really popular and now everyone expects that to be the standard in all internet horror media. It's also really weird hearing people talk about stuff they're nostalgic for that came out when I was finishing high school.

I found about SMLwiki through the fnf mod, and was hooked immediately. Was never the biggest fan of sml and I think that makes me like it more. To be fair, an ARG requires an interactive element- plenty of horror series that people *call* ARGs are in fact not. Marble hornets was an ARG because the audience could interact and change the outcome, but as far as im aware, petscop and angel gabby are just horror series (very good ones!), not ARGs. People have broadened the term ARG to mean "any horror content you might have to dig for some elements of" but originally an ARG required you have some degree of control over the potential outcome, usually with puzzles or codes the audience has to figure out so the story can progress

The “interactive” part I think is a bit more broad than directly affecting the narrative. Its only interactive because the story supposedly takes place in our reality

ARG is basically any show which focuses on audience interaction. While unfiction can have some codes, hidden lore and whatnot, the difference with the ARG is you HAVE TO solve those codes to progress, and it's happening more often than not in real time. real world interaction has nothing to do with series being an ARG or not

SMLWiki is more so an art project to be experienced rather than an ARG, not every piece of horror has to be the next "Mandela Catalogue" or "28 Days later" or even "Shipwrecked 64", sometimes, it's best for horror to be something that is a just, a simple horror story. I never would've expected a tweet of mine to be presented as if somebody is meeting with a detective in a 1 hour video essay about SML lol so far the video is really good. I love the editing [ edit ] I finished the video. I fucking loved it when I first discovered SMLwiki (through that DM) I was both disturbed and intrigued. I didn't really get back in SML since they switched to puppets and rebranded as it felt like what I came for just left. that changed when SMLwiki came along, as I found (a mostly ironic) appreciation for the new. I feel as if my online life changed when clicking on that link, as if a part of my childhood, albeit in a new form, came back to me and not only invited me back but benefitted me in a lot of ways, bringing me into the SML community and meeting new people (I even met the voice actor for Mama Luigi, Zeke, which is fucking rad). it's poetic to me in a way. this site, despite being a silly shitpost project based on a problematic puppet show, means a lot to me. on to the video itself, I really enjoyed it. I love the editing work as well as the progression and such. I love video essays like this so consider me a new fan. I actually learned a few things about the site that I missed. while I love the site, I didn't keep up with it as, not only do I suck at finding shit, but I had other things to focus on. I did still have it in my mind however and when I heard about the "aagony" code I knew I had to at least go there and "finish" SMLwiki. I also appreciate the video for finally wrapping my head around what the story was. I did understand bits of it (apocalypse happened that caused everything to fuck up and the ground to turn into spooky Marvin meat) but I didn't get the full picture. again, I suck at stuff like this lmao I really like the ending to the video as well, how you tied it to the message of making art and how you should make it how you want to, not what others want. it's a valuable lesson, especially to me as one who has felt dissatisfied with their own art, thinking it won't get anywhere, but even if it won't, it will still matter to me. SMLwiki is unlike any project on the internet, it feels both familiar and new. It's not an ARG, a creepypasta, analog horror, it's a work of art, a love/hate letter to SuperMarioLogan also I know a lot of people have asked this before but I haven't worked on the website itself, nor do I have any information that they have specifically told me. all I pretty much am is the initial messenger of the website, as well as a cameo on the "Escapees" page. what I know is what you know lol.
