Bless you for covering this story. Working in the field of Mental Health brings me close to people like Mary. Some are so sweet and vulnerable, trusting of all people. To take advantage of someone you know has Mental health issues is unforgivable. What a spectacular woman Mary's grandmother is. If we all had someone that treasured us that much this world might finally be rid of stories like this.

My 20 year old has a disability and I'm told often that I won't let her live her life. This is why we have to keep our children who are vulnerable no matter their age close to us. This family did everything right and it still happened. And for her family to get screwed every which way when looking for her and trying to get justice, it's no surprise she believes that they don't value her because of her disability. In fact, it's more important to point out how depraved someone has to be to murder someone let alone a disabled person. It's gross. I'm so angry watching this, I'm fuming

Yes to us that’s normal to write em off and never speak to them again but to this sweet lady who had a disability one thing that came with that is easily being able to forgive ppl jus because they say they’re sorry. When someone has a disability especially when it effects the brain or personality they’re easily influenced to believe someone jus cause they say the word sorry.. they’ll believe them because the word to them, is enough to go by. They don’t have the ability to truly understand if a person means it or not. They just know that when they hear that word sorry they kno u forgive after that.. not sure if u understand what I mean but I tried to explain the best I cud from my perspective

This makes me sick to my stomach. I have a grandchild with a similar disability. Most people believe they should not have to bury their kids or grandkids. When you have a special child you hope you outlive them. I feel so bad for Mia! She wanted her sweet Mary to have as much of a “normal” life as a young adult that she could. But at the same time, a “normal” life was unrealistic for Mary. What a hard position Mia was in- balancing the fine line of letting her go and holding her back for her safety and well being. Kelly is the epitome of the darkness that lures in the shadows just waiting to snuff out any bright lights in the world.

The poise this grandmother has to speak so eloquently about her granddaughter’s case is astounding. This case is somewhat similar to this one: BIRMINGHAM - Police have charged seven people in the kidnapping, assault, sodomy and murder of a young Jasper woman in what Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurman called a “deplorable and sickening” case. Police announced on Wednesday that they had obtained arrest warrants for seven suspects in connection to the murder of 20-year-old Mahogany Jackson. On Monday, February 26, 2024, Jackson was discovered shot and killed in the 1700 block of Laurel Avenue.

Most states have the policy that a crime such as murder does not have a bond. If that’s what you’re accused of then you don’t get a bond. This is insane. Poor poor girl. Such a heart breaking story.
