@@vergespierre4271 You’re right, it was a few years ago when I made that comment. I stopped using the term ‘African American’ when referring to black American citizens. In fact, I simply call them American, and only bring skin colour or ethnicity into it if the topic concerns race. When I thought about it, the name ‘African American’ isn’t correct. To me it sounds as if they don’t belong and only just arrived in America as recent immigrants of their own free will. Then why don’t we refer to white Americans as European Americans? It sounds just as ridiculous from the same perspective. Most black Americans have no connection with Africa whatsoever other than some long lost lineage at least 6-7 generations ago when slavery was in place before the US civil war. The ones that do are true recent immigrants with US citizenship and not even they are called African American, but instead Nigerian-American, Ghanaian Americans, or from whichever country they originated from within the continent of Africa.

I don't know how Caucasians, who have familial roots in America that stretch for several hundred years of generations, feel so comfortable with their history. So comfortable as to make their history a standard in our educational system's curriculum like it's not barbarism while simultaneously muting other experiences who bring to light their depravity. So comfortable as to have no real remorse nor accountability to work to right those wrongs because today's descendants are still benefiting from those atrocities and don't want to give up their privilege for equity. I'd be deeply ashamed. This woman was ALIVE within the last 50 years but not LIVING because she continuously had to fight to be treated like a human, too recent for comfort and Black people are STILL dealing with this. I never knew her story in depth but I'm SO HAPPY AND GRATEFUL I know now. She's just another Black woman I'm going to use to model my life after on how to Survive and Better America. Are you ashamed of everything that's ever been done by anyone who has skin like yours? Many people are mixed race without knowing it. Should they be ashamed of everything that's been done by both white and black forebears? I only have the chance to do what's right in my lifetime. I will try and I will acknowledge if I don't do enough. I saw Fannie Lou portrayed in a film about Pres. @@dekaibrahim6749 unfortunately it is true dear. Those enslaved thru the TAST were descendants of the lost 12 tribes of Israel and yes they were cursed due to disobedience. That doesn’t take away from their strength and endurance. We are descendants of those enslaved and yes we are a strong but lost group of people.

Wow. An amazing life. I was raised in the United States so I was never taught about this patriot. I worked in politics starting when I was 9 in 1964, was a political science major, history minor, in college, worked in Washington DC one summer, and served as a member of the Arizona delegation to a Democratic National Convention too. I m completely disgusted by Johnson and Humphrey's actions against her. I didn't know this amazing woman's story until seeing this video. Thank you.

This woman's eyes hold's all that she's endured. I'm ashamed for not having known about her until and am saddened that our US history courses have not included her into the curriculum. What an honorable, defiant, and powerful woman!! May she rest in peace.
