The wood back then was indeed denser than what you buy today. Look at the grain..rings closer together than today's lumber.

There is crown molding left in one room at 16:00- it's all around the upper walls where the walls meet with the ceiling. The other, framing the doors, is door trim.

@@kimberlymoxley104 Because they were built with 100 year old trees. My 1880's foundation timbers will break titanium drill bits, like it's petrified at this point.

Its so very sad that this beautiful home has been literally destroyed. A grand piece of American history lost to time and neglect. Thank you as always!

Wow how sad. Seems cursed, with the early tragedies. I'm glad they salvaged some. But what a beautiful place to just let fall apart. Shameful. I'm glad you have gone back a few times to document it. Awesome that you included old pictures. Can you imagine how beautiful it was? I recognize some of the carved trim, identical to that in my 1880 home. A northern home built by Abolitionists.

Arlington is one of a kind. Fully decked out. The artwork and the woodwork are pretty amazing. I would love to see your house! I dog old homes.

We had a discussion on a Natchez fb page about the vandals. It is believed that they may be harvesting the wood out of the house and selling it. Chain saws and a trailer used. That might be what happened to the barn and it looks like the large wood beam supporting the opening on the carriage house end of the dependency is missing as well. Just a thought.

Such a beautiful place with very interesting history. You'd have to completely gut it and redo it. It would cost millions. So sad to see it destroyed like this. Excellent video. Thank you!

None of that stuff is from Europe sir. It pisses me off! 😡 Number one that's NOT a federal style home it's actually called Greek Revival built and inhabited by the Natchez Indians aka the Blacks! That living room looks like every black persons living room back in the 80s... we're quality driven people. Refrence the 1820-1860 census records and slave schedules and you'll see we owned EVERYTHING! Foster Indian Mound in Natchez is where my Grandmothers entire family is buried dating back to the Biblical times. My Grandfathers family is from Bolivar Mississippi and his entire faily is buried in Harris Indian Mound. We even own Jefferson College in Natchez and we were colonized for all of it! 😡 😡 😡

The abandoned Pokegema Lake"asylum" in Pine City, MN, is for sale for $100,000; I think that's what I saw for a price. I did not go to see the place today because I know its history, and it's not quite what it's being hyped up to be. It was built 100 years ago as a Sanatorium but was last a women's treatment center. The building is pretty trashed but is solid. It's been the tweaker hang-out in the area, and cops frequently come around to chase people out. I've never heard of hauntings or anything paranormal going on there, and that is unusual for Pine County-lots of tales of cryptids, UFOs, crazed hermits, and whatnot. The only thing I've heard about the property is that when food went to the jail from the treatment center, it was pretty good, except they put rosemary in everything. That wouldn't have been enough to make me afraid of going to jail back then. ✨🪄

@@DeadlyKnot The property is listed with realtors so it probably would only take a phone call and a liability waiver to get permission if someone wanted to film there, or just set up a showing. Wisconsin law requires that hauntings and ghosts be disclosed, so they might not want any paranormal investigators around. But then again, it's an excellent location for a spooky themed business. If it is only going for $100,00 it's well worth the $
