I feel like Jesse and other youngsters at United over the past like 5 to 10 years really had their growth torpedoed. Having constant instability with systems and coaches, some managers not playing the youth, some managers afraid to adjust the lineup, and systems not really suiting the attackers at the club. Jesse felt like a talent but needed to be molded and mentored, United were in rough times I think some managers really were afraid to take time to develop guys and focus all energy on winning games. I don't think he did himself many favors at times either, but I loved the kid. The club didn't have much in the way of senior leadership at the time either which didn't help matters. I really wish he would have worked out at United even off the bench or going back to West Ham. I would have liked to see his energy and counter attacking ability within the squad for ETH.

@Vizeh undoubtedly man, the entire situation would repeat a cycle. New coach hired, win games, buy new players, team starts to falter and won't gel, then coach just focuses all energy on saving his ass lol if you surround him with a supportive environment mentally during such a dark period I think his carrer is in a different space. You hear the stories of a Manger like Fergy and how he cared about you beyond the pitch, how he'd ask about your wife and kids. You hear the same with ETH we saw how he just totally backed Sancho after he lost multiple family members. The man management beyond the pitch just wasn't there for Jesse or really Marcus either.

Great vid! From a forest fans perspective, Jesse is crucial to this teams success. Although he's been nothing less than disappointing in his game time, along with picking up an injury that held him out about for about almost 2 months (including WC break), Jesse's outgoing, and loving character is the glue in the locker room with 30 new faces. Every time forest win, it's a huge reaction from the fans and the team no matter the opponent. He bought into the culture of diehard fans that forest have, and he brings that energy day-in day-out no matter the minutes he plays, he's always the first to celebrate or comfort after a big moment or a mistake. His leadership is a quality he will carry with him wherever he goes in life. Everyone talks about his wages at forest, which is both fair and unfair. Sure we should be getting much more on the field but, in my opinion, what he's brings to the locker room is almost priceless.

Another banger of a video Viz. As a United fan and therefore having watched him for the best part of 5 years I can say with strong conviction that he was just never really that good and a squad player for a mid table team at best. Yes the guy had his moments like the Fa cup final goal and scoring the occasional banger but when he started he was consistently underwhelming. He never looked like he had any star quality in him and often looked very average. Other than a 2 month period of very good form between Nov to Dec 2017, he was very underwhelming. I’m glad he left because as seen this season he just isn’t top team quality. He was at best a moments player who played on hype and emotion but when played consistently, he would always be 5/10. I know he’s been through some stuff mentally, but over his whole career, the fact still remains; he’s an average midtbale/ relegation side footballer who only played for United for so long because of the inadequacies of the club and the fact that he was from the academy. A moments player who was overrated when he was rated and now everyone has found out how average he really is.

As a United fan, it’s sad to see how his career has ended up. I watched him play live many a time for the United youth team, including that youth cup winning year. I really hoped he would make it as a regular first team player. I liked this video but I think explaining more about his personal life (his mum’s depression and Jesse having to support his brother and sister) would have explained more about what he has battled with.

@jgasparmiswiredke
@jgasparmiswiredke Жыл бұрын
I love Lingard. The weirdest part was I expected him to bounce back the way Rashford has. I think the managers at United (especially Ole), as well as the extremely critical United fanbase on social media might have affected him beyond repair. And funnily enough, I don't mind the fact that he was all over social media, or the dances he did. What was more important was that he clearly had a bond with his team mates and wanted to put his best out for United, both on and off the field. I can relate to that, that need to do right by those that lit that fire under you when you were younger. But his experience in the senior team probably left him disillusioned as both a player and a fan. Do I think he can bounce back? Yes, but he's going to have to reconcile his experiences at United with the senior team with what image he had when he joined the youth team

Utter waffle about his situation at Nottingham Forest. It took a while for everyone at Forest to bed in. Just before the World Cup break Lingard started to look really promising, then the break came and then he got injured. He isn't a "bench player", he's still injured. He seems to be massively influential within the dressing room and on the bench, please do a little more research besides stats...
@Vizeh
@Vizeh Жыл бұрын
I said that he was injured from december? You may not like the stats but from the expectation from what people had at West Ham going into Forest it's fair to say that him becoming an influential figure in dressing room is his main asset shows that he's not perfomed to peoples expectations. Which is a fair comment considering the fact we all know how good he can be

Unfortunately he had another set back in the cup Semi 😭 Yeah I agree that he’s somewhat underperformed, however with fitness, us making 24 (or so 😂) summer signings (now 30), limited minutes and injuries until he has a proper run I’m not gonna judge him - I doubt he’ll see this lmao but as you mentioned he’s gone through a lot mentally recently anyway so constantly saying how good he can be, stats, etc ain’t gonna help. I feel like I might get so much flack for saying this, but because of how he is at the very least from the games I watch him, he is willing to be a work horse and roam around and find oppotunities, he would have fit into the current Man United's squad under Ten Hag as an impact sub. David Moyes and Solskjaer usually plays him very uncomfortably, where he is much more restricted and therefore unable to roam and create opportunities as a CAM, so he felt stagnated. As soon as he switched to West Ham, where he is more comfortable and able to roam, he is brilliant. So I think it is sad that he couldn't have stayed for one more year and maybe let Ten Hag try him out, because he was put into systems where he cannot be the best of his ability, but by the time he left the club a manager comes in and changes said system that would have fit him otherwise.

He might have played a few games as an impact sub, but that's about it, hence i'm happy he's not sitting on the bench here and wasting his career any longer. In system that suited him, he was able to get nice moments. Probably not at huge club but certainly at PL level. When he went Wst Ham it looked like great place for him. Unfortunately he wasted year coming back instead of going there permanently. Nottingham never felt like the right place for him. I hope there's still some future for him but it doesn't look like it. Football is festooned with examples of talented players who could not cut it in front of a crowd of supporters, it;'s the ultimate test between amateur and pro. I saw a comment here saying that Lingard is average. To an extent I agree. But like the thing with players like Lingard, Alli, Quaresma, Ravel, and all the failed wonderkids of our era is that, no disrespect to anyone, but on their day, they can turn the game around by themselves, they can create things outta nowhere, and honestly these are the players people come to watch, and these are the players who catch the eyes and capture the imaginations of fans everywhere. So, when you're at a position like that, there will always be eyes on you, cause people know what you're capable of, and the entire baggage of expectations come across, and I wouldn't say it's their fault that they couldn't respond back to the criticism and press, cuz they are young lads and have no idea what's going on honestly, trying to catch up with so much fame and attention at such a young age and it's just the thing is, I just wanna say that even if they don't ever "realize their potential", i hope they can handle things better now in their personal lives and find some fucking peace. Simply, he was never as good as he thought he was in his head. At his peak (a 6-month loan at West Ham) he was merely a Dele wannabe

It's sad, cause not many people care about him just cause of the way he celebrate goals. Because of that people normally don't really care about him as a person

During one of the chances he got to prove himself, he was Captain for United with a very young side, it could have been a cup game or something. Bearing in mind he was Captain and should have been showing maturity and leadership, he scored a goal and as Chong ran to him to celebrate, Lingard ran away from him and straight to the camera to show off his stupid celebrations. He is so immature and attention seeking that he has no place as a Captain, and for someone who was at United for ages it showed that he would never be the right person to play in a top team. It's all about him and always will be, so to answer your comment - Don't complain that no-one cares about him because he does not seem to give a f**k about anyone but himself.

I think Jese was just plagued by united. He was never united standard. In spurts he could be but these players used to be moved on much sooner by SAF. United being run so poorly he was kept on. This wasn’t helped by his massive social media presence and fame. In an ideal world he would’ve been moved on in his mid twenties to a mid table club and flourished (as he did at West Ham) There he could’ve either chased a bigger move or had a more successful career etc

This guy is still a great player and has a good few years. What’s going on - the social media, the drinking, the dabbing - it’s classic escapism. The guy clearly has a lot going on. But society thinks that because your famous, you have to take critique, 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. None of us here could lace his or many others boots. Whilst we’re all entitled our opinion, it’s those that go out of their way to voice it directly. I’d expect the guy can’t even walk the street without being told what someone thinks of him. I can’t imagine most people would be resilient to it. He needs a hug and to be told that he should just concentrate on him.

@@ian0143 well, anyone paid thousands of pounds per week & playing in one of the best leagues in the world, comparatively against most people, by definition, he’d be great as he far supersedes what would constitute as average. Even by that of a professional footballing standard.

Not really a tragic tale, he's done well with the talent he has. He's had some patches here and there were he looked like a top player. But he never looked like a world beater like Dele did/ should have been.

I think we (united) messed up big time by not letting him join West Ham on a permanent. There was so much confusion as to why he wasn't allowed to make that move and I don't think that was his fault at all

Manchester United and Ole screwed Lingard over for not allowing him to leave for West Ham permanently. I won't forget his best season at Manchester United was under Mourinho and Moyes really wanted him at West Ham after his excellent loan spell.

Could of came to newcastle and let eddie train him to be better just look at what eddie done to almiron, Newcastles long term future was looking great but short term wasnt fully sure where we would end up this season. He snubbed us for money and the same for west ham and i remember an article with someone saying hed regret moving there. Not saying he deserves it but def couldnt see the wood for the trees, ironically he now sits next to wood on the bench and cant miss wood if he tried lol

He's just feeling sorry for himself .. everyone has problems he's human .. he's just interest in social media fame , women an positive attention. Everyone deals with everything differently but just a reminder Ronaldo lost his child an still carried on .. alot of foreign players from poor backgrounds get death threats an sometimes family kidnap threats . But you watch his interview he's sad cause his mum is depressed and mufc won't let him be on Instagram all day . Soon as he went west ham he did really well cause he was a star there an could do the things he wanted now he's bk at mufc his old attitude is bk
