What's tragic ? That the band fell apart by 2003 ? They still sold about 10 millions albums worldwide and had a pretty decent 15-year run (all-original members).

My kids grew up in the 1990s. They played 14:59 so much I learned all the songs. It reminds me of happy summers in Southern California. That album alone was worth it. LA Times has always been snotty. I give them no credit. His kids will be proud to have such a cool dad. That’s all just a toxic environment dealing with the record companies. The Rolling Stones and Beatles are 1960s bands. They’re nostalgia. Like Jimmy Buffett, although different genres, Sugar Ray brings you to a happy place.

I've always absolutely loved this band! From Floored to In the Pursuit of Leisure......that 4 album stint was amazing and I don't care what anybody says they absolutely had talent. I will always be a fan of those 4 albums and will always give them credit for defining sounds of the late 90s early 2000s......and I look at that nostalgia In a very positive light. I so wish he would continue his touring with other bands from that era......we had the pleasure of seeing them play with Soul Asylum, Smash mouth and others .....it was awesome!

Tragic? These guys put out four records in a row that had at least one #1 hit. Literally got to open for The Rolling Stones. All 5 of the original band members are alive, and involved in music one one way or another. The original bassist, Murphy Karges, has a bass ass YT @BassWithMurf. Stan, drums, is a restauranteur. The sound faded, that’s all. It took acts like Sugar Ray, 311, and GLove with them. I still dig it.

Everyone has 15 minutes of fame, this is not unusual. Lemonade and Brownies sounds like a different band, than " every morning" type stuff, but bands change. Was it a sellout? Or were they just becoming better songwriters? I say the latter. Plus, 14:59 did not completely abandon that heavier sound, there were still a few songs for the Lemonade fans. I saw them in 2021, and Mark is still a good entertainer. They did tons of 90s covers, like they were a 90s covers band. Maybe thats what casual fans want, because Blues Traveler did the same thing recently, tons of 90s covers. I would have rather both bands went into their deep catalog, but the internet has made EVERYONE a casual listener, and they dictate. Hardcore music people like me, who listen to a wide array from Donna Summer to Venom, are gone with the streaming era
