Gord Downey was a poet of the highest order. The world was a much better place with him in it. His music will live on for generations.

One of the tightest versions of ABAC I've ever heard. To: Mr. Fay, Mr. Baker, Mr. Sinclair, Mr. Downie (RIP), and Mr. Langlois: Thank you. From: a fan.

Sometimes the guitar playing of Paul Langlois goes unnoticed in a lot of videos, but I love his place in the mix here. You can really hear how much he contributes to the meat and potatoes of the band's sound, his introduction in the second verse is really fierce, and the playing he does alongside Gord on bass is fantastic in the outro. I love this video, the band is at its peak here (in my opinion) and they get a chance to really play through the song as they would in any other live setting, the best of the Hip on KZbin!

I've always loved Paul's playing on the outrow on this song, especially live. You really can hear his influence when you listen to his solo album.

First thing, we'd climb a tree And maybe then we'd talk Or sit silently And listen to our thoughts With illusions of someday Casting a golden light No dress rehearsal This is our life And that's when the hornet stung me And I had a feverish dream With revenge and doubt Tonight, we smoke them out You are ahead by a century You are ahead by a century You are ahead by a century Stare in the mornin' shroud And then the day began I tilted your cloud You tilted my hand Rain falls in real time And rain fell through the night No dress rehearsal This is our life But that's when the hornet stung me And I had a serious dream With revenge and doubt Tonight, we smoke them out You are ahead by a century You are ahead by a century You are ahead by a century You are ahead by a century You are ahead by a century You are ahead by a century And disappointin' you Is gettin' me down

I am disgusted with the use of this song in a Canadian Tire commercial. How dare they! Downie is a national treasure - living or dead. Show some respect!
@rockiex65002 жыл бұрын
Easy buddy. Look into it. Watch the commercial. It's about supporting women in sports and diversity in general
Gotta say, I really find it insulting that today's radio programming, (which doesn't have a freaking clue about diversity and how widening the scope of an artists catalog for airplay) can literally kill one song through repetitive, mind numbing overplay. Money is the bottom line.
