Sadly, Hanoi has just closed down the train cafes today because (according to the authorities) they violated the railway safety corridor and to facilitate the move of Hanoi Train Station's activities out to another complex. I'm a local, ICYMI.

@@khoanguyenavia Wow, can't say I am surprised as I had a feeling it would shut down again. I personally saw someone at the nighttime cross in front of the train within a second or two of it passing who was probably drunk. It felt safe for people with common sense but some people can't be trusted. I feel bad for all the cafe owners, that must be devastating.

Well, there's legit no roadkill in say India, and their city roads are unlike anything in Western societies. Cows just lay down in the road and traffic goes around them. It's called awareness and cherishing the sanctity of life. Something we've largely lost in our rat race in the West. In trying so hurriedly to get ahead, it seems we let a lot of things go unattended in the process. Like, prioritizing life over self.

@@Ethan2Tone If you're using a selfie-stick, it means you want to capture a photo of yourself and as much of what you're doing as possible. It's narcissistic. A normal person would either take a plain photo, or a normal arms-length selfie. People using selfie-sticks do so because they try to do stupid shit and brag about how stupid they are. The only time a selfie stick is acceptable in my eyes is to take a selfie of a large group of people, like at a family gathering.

I've seen "train markets" like this but the train was always going pretty slow. But to have it blast through at top speed is insane and reckless, especially when it's going through a market with lots of alcohol involved

Well, my family do not live that close to the railway, but in a residential area which close to it, but enough to feel the trains on a daily basis. It quite thrilling tbh :0 Sometimes, it is nice to just walk on the railway,if you ignore the addicts at night :0 It’s noisy and all but fun :) But I move out of that area for a while now… Yeh…
