Less running, less biking, less jumping & more rowing. That’s how they won in 2004. The Brits and Germans row and row and row.

When you consider that these guys are probably 190 pounds up to 225 their performances were very good . One guy had 31 "pull ups" . I presume that is a chin up . I rowed at 210 and my best chin ups were 14 . Another exercise they did was a bench row where one guy got to 247.5 pounds .

In the standing long jump they are starting with their feet on the wrong side of the baseline. Toes should be on the line not heels. They only jumped around 9 feet which is not that great and more in line with their vertical jump scores.

But if they are measuring the point where their heels land then your point is invalidated. I understand that if you were measuring heel start point to toe finish point then this would skew the results but as long as they use the same part of the foot to measure it then the result is still accurate

Tom Bright ummm. No. Check out any long jump, triple jump or anny other jumping competition like the broad jump or the nfl combine and you will see how they mesure the jumps. Ir you are measuring a jump, you are measuring the gap from your starting point to your finnising point, so it makes no sense to add your feet length to the gap you jumped.

Great stuff, and interesting how flat-footed their running is, since the calves are the only muscle groups--in front and behind--that they do not work out to row--and they run with heavy, clumpy steps--though they're incredibly strong and in great shape.

During the rowing stroke the calves take up a rather key part. They start the stroke and the quads finish it giving and umph of power. The calves of rowers are quite well devolved but certainly it's the quads that are key. Rowing is about having the full package so all muscles of good rowers are well developed.

Great--thank you for the correction, since I'm still new, I didn't have that nuance in my own assessment when I wrote that, but have felt it now after a few practices. Really appreciate it.
