The Trammps were an American disco and soul band, who were based in Philadelphia and were one of the first disco bands. They visited the Toppop studios in the Netherlands many times. They are best known for their Grammy winning song, "Disco Inferno", originally released in 1976, becoming a UK pop hit and US R&B hit. After inclusion in the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, the song was re-released in 1978 and became an international pop hit worldwide. The song was inspired by the 1974 blockbuster film “The Towering Inferno”, where a party in a top-floor ballroom is threatened by a fire that breaks out below. According to Tom Moulton, who mixed the record, the Dolby noise reduction was incorrectly set during the mixdown of the tracks. The raging fire in the song symbolizes the intense energy on the dance floor, but the phrase "Burn, baby, burn" also echoes the chant used during the Watts Riots in 1965 as fires spread through the Los Angeles neighborhood. This live performance was taped for in the Dutch TV program “Tafkas” on February 13, 1998.

🇬🇧 I feel blessed to have been a teenager in late 70s/80s, and got to dance the night away to this song, and other great Disco hits at our local Youth club. It definitely was a great time to be alive, and i miss it. 🎼👌💕
