The Trammps ~ Disco Inferno 1976 Disco Purrfection Version

Happy New Year! I wish you the very best in 2021. What better way to celebrate than to remix "Disco Inferno" for your New Year's Eve parties. Instead of waiting until midnight, I figured that putting it out there today would be a better idea. This is probably the most iconic disco song ever, you know what is coming right from the very start. It spent five weeks at #1 disco and found a second life when it was included on the greatest disco album of all time, "Saturday Night Fever". It has also been inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame.
"The Towering Inferno" was a 1974 Irwin Allen disaster flick that evoked powerful imagery and the metaphor was incorporated into the song. "The funk was flaming" lyrics were a very accurate description of the song and the movie is now forever tied together with it to me.
Released as a single on December 28, 1976, it peaked at #53 on the Hot100, but the reissue due to "Saturday Night Fever" it re-enterd the chart and it peaked at #11 in the spring of 1978.
This is the best way to close of 2020 which was a dumpster fire, but the fire generated by the "Disco Inferno" is going to keep you warm for a very long time....

i was a punk rocker 1977 in Glasgow when it started , yet i loved all music and had this double life of die hard punk and still loving disco , talk about being a cross dancer. Today i'm in my 60's and still love new wave /punk soul funk groove , just love music . Enjoy it , it's your life ....

I was 15 and my soon to be husband was 24 (we married in Idaho when I was 16 with a notarized letter from my Dad) and he had a fine new F250 with big 'ol tires and a canopy with speakers in the bed of the truck. We would cruise Alki Beach (Seattleites know this drag) and I would play this song via cassette at full blast. 20 years later during one of our divorce "discussions," he yelled at me, "And I always hated that f'ing Burning song!" That was a complete non-sequiter as it pertained to nothing we were "discussing!" Arbitration, you know. Well, I'm still "burning" and loving it as much as I did when I was 15! Thank you, DJDiscoCat.
