It's actually very sad, about how the island survived wars but has been ruined and is being destroyed by concrete and construction (dust, noise etc) "Fejn mar il-kwiet" = "Where has the silence gone?"

@@mastermaltese8731 Thank you so much for translating the lyrics. The song now "hits differently", as people say. One could argue that industrialisation, while it has brought some advantages to civilisation, it has also brought with it a lot of disadvantages, including the destruction of many natural sites and habitat. Although I never got to experience pre-modernised Malta, I can imagine it must have been very beautiful. It's much like how I imagine the Nigeria my father grew up in, before the civil war, the oil spills, and all the pollution that industrialisation brought with it.

@@mastermaltese8731 facts, the government and tourists are giving the islands a bad name by making it dirty and corrupt. It saddens me inside to know that a very significant portion of my personality and culture is being slowly destroyed.

I've just discovered this song and this band (by accident!) during my internship in Malta earlier this year. I've never watched the whole video before, only enjoyed this good music from which I don't really understand a word, except for 'ħafna'... 4 months later I watched the video and got completly nostalgic and moved by the clip, as I recognised lots of places I've been to with amazing people and it brought me back those memories that will last forever. Born and raised in the 1950s: I'm all for progress, growth and prosperity. Achieving these by sacrificing quality of life like what is happening is not improvement but wholesale rape and destruction. An influential 1% of individuals, not necessarily Maltese, reap huge monetary rewards while sacrificing the health and well being of the majority of the population and throwing crumbs at them. Blinding them into believing they are well off.
