Fair play for getting him on. The UK is not the country with the most CCTV cameras .. but it's in the top 3. Speed cameras in the UK are ridiculous. And he did play it right, because the fact that the UK has a speed camera network this wide and extensive .. and they didn't even follow protocol to check it ... or dismissed it to get a case .. is part of what got him off. It literally backfired for the prosecutor. Great story.
@ssu765311 ай бұрын
I think what made the case, was the original investigator giving testemony that they DID check the camera network. That would have changed minds from "those cameras could prove him guilty if they only checked early enough" into more like "there is no case here" When there is a trial by jury, it is not ALL about what you can prove. If they think you did it, your fighting an uphill battle evidence or not.

The judiciary has nothing at all to do with the amount of publicity a case gets. That is the Media's job, and they know us so well they only bothered with the story they knew would be most eagerly read. The precedent was set because a Copper got clever. The CPS charged him FFS, so they were hardly trying to corruptly provide a get out of jail card for police officers. They also charged him because someone did their job and checked the mans black box readings, and even then they could all have just had a laugh and told the copper to slow down a bit, instead of spending thousands and wasting time going through a court case just to cover any future problems with a precedent. To even think that is serious 9/11 style idiocy. The guy in this video actually did what he was charged with, and got away with it because he argued his case better than those prosecuting him. Nice to see Tommys full story on here. I can verify his story and his run, if you want to google the case feel free, plus i organised the c2c and checked his run and story before inviting him to run in 2019. Hes an awesome guy, and hell of a driver and a legal defender.

I'm so glad he was found not guilty but how on earth did the speed cameras not flash him??
@kingcountrytowing11 ай бұрын
@user-fd8jc3zg7j well to be honest the speed cameras are pretty well marked on waze, at least all the fixed ones are, I'm sure there is a little luck involved, but it's not rocket science to get the locations of all the speed cameras in a particular day.
@user-fd8jc3zg7j11 ай бұрын
Thats almost seems too easy though😅
@kingcountrytowing11 ай бұрын
@user-fd8jc3zg7j the simplest explanation is usually the right one lol 😉 You just need to be very organized and situationally aware, I totally couldn't do it for the life of me!
@user-fd8jc3zg7j11 ай бұрын
@kingcountrytowing Yes but surely the average speed cameras would have caught him, I don't understand how he wasn't caught by the average speed cameras even if he was slowing down for the cameras and then speeding up afterwards 🤔

I worked with a chap who reconned he used to get from Brighton to Stansted in an hour every morning going to work in a Jaguar XJ-S V12 5.3 Coupe. Cruise at 130 to 150 MPH, never got accused of speeding over twelve months.

This shows what the british press & CPS are like. They would rather put more effort in to trying to jail someone enjoying a drive than a murderer. Always go after the easy target. Pathetic.

Audi driver? Suspicion of speeding? Guilty straight away 😅. Seriously though. A very well told, immersive, eye opening story, during which, no matter how thorough, articulate and meticulous he is, he still had to admit in the end that he was helped along by huge dollops of 'lady luck'. (And a Petrol head Judge).

Putting a false plate on and installing equipment to avoid being detected for speeding is not perverting the course of justice. The course of justice has to be in place at the time of the act. If you are ever charged with evading future legal responsibility then ask your barrister to look at R v Selvege and Morgan. The course of justice has to be in place at the time of the act. They tried it on my and I won on application to dismiss, but it was a nightmare to get a barrister that knew enough. The experience I had was very similar to yours in that they were determined to get me and spent a fortune on the investigation. Also for any readers in similar situations it is wise not to ever enter a plea. The reason for this is that you cannot submit an application to dismiss if you enter a plea.

Critical to all this was the fact that: the prosecution could not put him at the wheel of the car; they could not independently provide evidence that the alleged transgression had actually occurred on a specific date, or indeed whether it had ever happened at all; witnesses for the prosecution completely contradicted each other’s testimony with regard to the speed camera network; and no speed cameras were triggered by the car in question on the date in question; and although the GPS signal showed that the journey had been made the prosecution could not provide evidence or witness that he was in possession of his phone on that day.

Going like this after a victimless crime is just surreal. We call ourselves democracies? No wonder we have such hulks of bureaucracies and they are STILL completely overwhelmed. He only got lucky in all of this, thats shocking.
