What a gag that star’s lineage was all a fake that Meteora was replaced by a random girl. Star technically is still a princess as she was born into royalty ever since the children of festivia but that was a new generation of the butterflies. I love eclipsa’s character sm and society was truly out to get her. Meteora and eclipsa would technically be the true queens of mewni. The trial was such a good episode and one of my most anticipated episodes. If you’re curious why Moon and Star have cheek marks even tho they aren’t true members of the butterfly lineage is bc of Festivia’s exposure of magic through the wand which gave her cheek marks. Then it became part of her own DNA as her lineage would then be able to use magic.

well i knew the cheek mark thing from marco who gets moons from his exsposure to magic. i never really dove deep into how the royalty system works but now that you explained it it makes so much sense of course shes a princess just born into royalty

cool episode great to see the truth or punishment box again! i was SO disapointed when i first learned star wasnt a princess cause i feel like all of the "your going to run mewni your way" and the "rebel princess" was wasted and i thought people wanted her to be a princess plus i feel like they made her too "normal" and she lost her charisma. Also star was always upset on being queen but now she finds out she isnt royalty and is upset? also she seemed to be a GOOD princess! in the early season 3. and Eclispa never cares for the kingdom because her first priority is always her "monster love"

She may not be a true "Butterfly," but Star is still a princess. It's just a different branch of royalty....the Neo-Butterflies if you will. Like if a kingdom decides to crown a new ruler because...idk, their ruler died and had no living family, then that new royal is now royalty. Star's ancestors have all been Queens as the rulers of Mewni which makes them royalty. And even if you didn't consider that, Star's father is still royal, so she'd be royal on her dad's side. But yes, Star is still a princess.

Like I said, Star's ancestors might not be the OG Butterflies, but they are a new line of Butterflies that have been ruling Mewni for many many years! She is royal from both her mom and dad! I think only an official legal/government decree would make her not a princess.

@TomTheCat29 that's just Star's personal opinion of the situation. At this point in the story, she is still a princess. I suppose if she and her family officially and willingly abdicated the throne (as in, they officially rejected their royal status) then...I guess technically she's not a princess. But at this point in the story where Scoot is at, she is a princess considering later events.

Star says she is not a princess since she is not related to the original Butterfly family... However, she is forgetting that her dad used to be a prince before being king. River never married into royalty, as he was already part of one, the Johansens. So, technically speaking, Star is still a princess... but from his father's side. But then again... Mewni does have a matriarchal system... otherwise, Solaria wouldn't be queen, but rather her older brother.

To how I feel like it's portrayed is that the monsters are ment to portray black people. The society of Mewni is just rasist. They treat monsters badly acceot the famous and rich ones, they are out casts and it's bafling that they might have actual rights. Eclipsa left her marriage for a monster and that's somehow bad? She has the right to leave and tbh if you look at the husband and how he is portrayed, there isn't a lot of love in that relationship. You saying that it made her look bad is just rediculous to me.
