It’s funny how things were graded beautifully in 8bit for years and now it’s suddenly some foreign concept that surprises people. I shot and graded 8bit for years and continued after 10bit came out and people didn’t even notice 😂 Great Work! 👍🏻😎

Completely agree! Became a bit of a marketing hype to delineate newer cameras from older ones but there’s so much more than bit depth when it comes to the quality of the image output
@BrendanMiranda9 ай бұрын
@@oliverkeyscine I agree. Definitely can feel a difference in how stretchy the dynamic range is when grading 10 bit. 8 bit is still plenty for most people. Especially when you’re going to be in a Rec 709 color managed workflow anyways. The first time I graded 10 bit it reminded me of grading the first iterations of RED Raw footage back in the day.

Making me regret selling my gx80. But I told the guy who bought it to check out your channel. Another great video. Cheers.

Alwauys loved the way your videos looked. I was actually curious how you got such clean looking 4k exports from your BMPCC? As far as I know it's a 1080p video output but your 4k uploads with it look so good!

Thanks so much! I upscale the footage from 1080 to 4K on export in resolve :)

I love your channel and all the tutorials. I never got any of the cameras you use (I came for the photography videos) but I would love to see something like this for iPhone clips as it's the only video camera I use. Do you ever use iPhone for video?
@oliverkeyscine9 ай бұрын
Hey thanks so much for the comment, glad you enjoy the videos! Thanks for the recommendation, I use my iPhone a little for video but haven’t really dug too much into finding a strong workflow for it, I’ll have to look into it a little more :)

I just picked up a Z5 which only does 8bit without nlog, I'm trying to figure out how to make the most of it.

If the Z5 has got a flat picture profile try using that with the aero conversion! Let me know how you get on

Lately people have been asking me how I do my color grading… and I’ve just been telling them that 75% was stolen from Oliver Keys, 25% from Lewis Potts ❤

Hey Oliver, I tried this but I'm not getting similar results. would you be able to help me grade a Vlog footage from my lumix s5ii?
@oliverkeyscine9 ай бұрын
Hey, are you choosing the VLOG as your input color space for the CST? Are you also ensuring that your exposing the LOG footage correctly? Ensure you’re exposing to the right to maximise dynamic range in the shadows
@ixography9 ай бұрын
I use a Sony A7iii and honestly I see no reason to upgrade at this point, When you expose correctly and you know how you want your video to look before you shoot then you are ok with 8bit. People are way to busy with the 8bit and 10bit discussion but so many times I have seen really bad grading from people with Sony FX3 or even ugly graded Raw footage. The fact that you shoot in 10bit does not make you a better colorist in my opinion. Before I had my Sony A7iii I had the Sony A7 mark 1 and people were always asking me how I got such amazing photos from an old camera system, well I never had an answer for them haha, it all depends on how much you plan the shot before you take it I guess.
