The triumphant and emotional return of Nick and Rachel Payne to DirtSurferz 2024

After both Rachel and Nick took devastating crashes just moments before the event and race started, Nick was rushed to the hospital with a severely dislocated and broken arm as well as multiple contusions and cuts. Rachel stayed by his side and both missed the entire race including the awards which was expertly run by an impromptu Scot Mendenhall and friends. Scot had a huge pizza party that night for the riders and served pizza and drinks to everyone in attendance. Nick and Rachel showed up in the middle of dinner and what happens next was one of the most memorable and emotional thing ever to happen at any event I have attended. 🥲🥰

So much heart in that man. When he fell out it also showed how much heart is in the community where people stepped up to fill the rolls that he and Rachel left while dealing with what life had handed him. This is the other reason I love riding my Onewheel. It's an excuse to meet beautiful people like you, your wife, the Mendenhalls, the Silvas, and the Paynes. If you'll excuse me a minute, it got really dusty in here all of a sudden.
