Hello, I'm a Filipino/American. I was born in the Philippines. If you have any questions about the country I can answer them. That video was taken last year. They no longer wear the mask and shield. Many expats are so surprised about my country and decide to extend their stay or even plan another trip back. Also if you can find a real Filipino restaurant and try some food before you visit that would help out. And maybe ask questions at the same time. So feel free to ask. Oh I brought 2 American friends to visit and now they're married to a Filipina. That's how and why they want to live there.

Yeah you're right there? If you live in the philippines and you are earning a dollars, Men I'm telling you it's more fun living in the Philippines. Reason there are a lot of Filipinos who dive in to a freelancing industry and some became a virtual assistant is because of the compensation even our clients only give us $5-$10 per hour we dive into it because it's huge compensation so far when we convert it to Philippine currency. 😊😊😊

As a Fil-Am. I can say the cost of living will vary, depending on location and how you want to live in the Philippines. I can also say yes the Philippines is cheaper. But, again, it all depends on how you want to live. In addition, are you willing to downgrade your lifestyle? Ongoing, the cost of living can also be equal to the U.S.D. Meanwhile, you also need to understand the Philippine salary base. If you are earning a small income, you are not going to have the labyrinth lifestyle you think you are going to have. Last, but not least, there is a high poverty rate in the Philippines. Therefore, don't let these KZbin bloggers, manipulate your thoughts. Again, it's all based on how much you are going to downgrade your lifestyle and how much are you going to earn.

I agree with you. I wouldn't say downgrade, but living your life how you want to in peace and building yourself up. i was born and raised in the Philippines (Filipino-American, Half-Blood) and have been living in the U.S since 2019 because I'm serving in the U.S Army and whenever the Christmas holidays is close by, i would always grab a flight back home to celebrate with family and friends. The vibes you get from the Philippines is just different and the people, nobody is in a rush, everybody just wants to just to be stable and happy that they are still with their loved ones. Every time my co-workers would ask me "after your service, are you gonna settle down in the U.S?" my response would be "No, I will be going back home to my country and find a job there. no disrespect to the U.S but i just like how the Philippines is even though it has it's flaws". For my opinion, i don't think Filipino's wants to leave their country, but they have to for a better salary to provide for their family back home. but if the Philippines would just raise the minimum wage or give a significant increase in salaries, no Filipino's would leave the Philippines. Because most or majority of Filipino's are already happy with the Philippines. All they truly want is to see their country thrive or flourish into a better Philippines as a whole.

Answers to your questions: 1. average ht - male: 165 cm & female: 150 cm 2. favorite past time - singing & drinking, going beaches or places like malls, play basketball. 3. land area - around 300,000 sq. km. 4. Summer temperature about 87 degrees Fahrenheit 5. The apartment featured is what we Filipinos call a studio type apartment. 6. Actually that is not a second toilet but a laundry. 7. 3 person riding a scooter or small motor bike is common here. 8. The main transportation here is jeepneys, then tricycles, & taxis. 9. This filmed maybe during the pandemic that is why he is using a face mask. 10. Jollibee chicken is taking the world by a storm, order from Jollibee near you and see the difference. The burger fries & other stuff are also good. On average if you are single like the guy in the video his expenses is low average which is true but if you like to travel once a month and go to bars at least once a week your total monthly expenses would be between $1,000 to $1,500.

As a Filipino, i recommend knowing the dates of some festivals cause some festivals are probably one of the best activities here. I'm a local from Cavite City and starting June, celebration of the Regada Festival starts up until June 24 which is the main event. Would definitely recommend going.

Just as a suggestion for your first trip here. more than 7000 islands to visit. Metro Manila, which consists of many cities, is huge and congested. Don't come here during the months of April and May, unless you can tolerate more than 100 degrees F heatwave. The only way to get out of the heat is to travel to the provinces with beaches, such as Bataan, Bulacan, or places in Visayas and Mindanao that are close to the sea. Otherwise, stay indoors and run the airconditioning unit full blast. June is when the storm season starts. Yes, there are 2 kitchens in some households, most especially in the province. I am from the island of Leyte, and our houses in Tacloban City and Ormoc City have 2 kitchens, wherein the indoor kitchen is where we do the cooking, and the cleaning of fish, meat and veggies are done at the outdoor kitchen. Sometimes we also do cooking at the outdoor kitchen if it's smokey, like barbecue. Internet speed up and down are better if you are in the metropolitan areas or main cities of each island. Water is indeed cheap. For regular households, the water bill is around $10 - $20, which already covers bathing, laundry, and cleaning for a month. Drinking water delivered free for 5Gal is 50 cents. Main transportation is Jeepney which are modified jeeps from WW2. There are buses, too. But most of the buses are used for longer trips most especially for inter-city travel or going to the distant provinces. You can also hire a car or taxi using the Grab mobile app and book a ride. Foodpanda is a very popular food delivery service in SEA, and it's convenient for most people, most especially with sudden munchies in the early morning. Jollibee is our version of McDonald's. The must-try there, is the Chicken Joy. You also try the Spaghetti. Sweeter instead of the usual tomato taste like the Italian version. Call/text/data for mobile can be loaded with credits. You can apply for a mobile monthly plan, but I think there are requirements in order to qualify. Not sure if citizenship is one of them. If you need to gas up your own ride, there will be attendants at the pump. There are plenty of malls around the country, most especially in the highly urbanized zones. If you need a place to stay at short notice, you can use Airbnb. As long as you keep earning dollars with your job, you can live like a king here.

That suppose to be the laundry room. But yes some houses here have 2 kitchens. The so called dirty kitchen mostly outside the house, where you could do the chopping, cleaning or processing the fresh meats or fishes. Before putting it inside the main kichen inside the house for cooking. That way some odors, blood stains or guts of the fishes may stay outside, but then again Not all houses have a dirty kitchen.

Yes, in the Philippines most houses have 2 kitchens, the main kitchen and the “dirty kitchen”. The main kitchen is just for “props”, kept clean and barely used and in the “dirty kitchen” is where all the cooking happens.

The Philippines is almost the same north-to-south extent as California or Florida+Georgia combined but has less land area which is often mountainous but has more coastal area. There's an outdoor "dirty or wet kitchen" for cooking smelly foods and washing or cleaning stuff. The bathrooms and toilets (called "comfort rooms") have bidets or buckets and dippers for washing. This video was made during the height of the pandemic so they still wore masks. If you splurge on restaurants and imported foods, your expenses will be higher than if you buy from the local markets.

In the Philippines we have the show off kitchen or the kitchen that we almost never used and you may consider it as a decoration of the house, the second one is the real kitchen which is usually outside the house. Born from Australia but raised in the Philippines here. Rent varies on what you're looking for. Most smaller apartments costs around 250-300 USD but they would be around that video showed. Food is accurate though. 5 USD for a meal from fast food restaurants but street food as generally cheaper and costs half of that price. Water is pretty accurate since water + delivery are bundled together. Laundry prices vary but most people take their laundry every week so it usually ends up around 600-700 Pesos (Php) or roughly around the 10-12 USD every month if you use the Laundromat every week (This is my personal experience so I get around 700 Php per month) Transportation are the following: Jeepneys Tricycles Scooters Buses Taxis And a few others that I can't remember at the top of my head. Imported foods are really expensive. Wet markets are generally cheaper (half of grocery stores costs). Jolibee is basically famous for their sweet and savory flavour foods. Especially the chicken since it's super crispy and juicy. So, if you lived in the Philippines, it will be harder if you have a Filipino salary. Trust me, as I lived here since I was 4 yrs old

It is so common having 2 kitchens in the Phil. One is inside the house adjacent to the Dining Area and the other is the “dirty” kitchen which is outside the house or annex to it. Since this is a classy studio-type apartment so they call it “wet” kitchen..😂

The wet kitchen is for washing vegetables or washing hand and basically everthing that needs to be clean goes to the wet kitchen and after that you cook it to the kitchen so basically if you want to wash vegetables or meat it goes to wet kitchen

I live in the Philippines now and on my 10th year .My Philipina is the best and we have a sari sari store we build on our house in 2017 but before that we rented a 2 bedroom apartment for 6,000 pesos a month when the pesos was mid 40's back then . our house with store and 200 meters lot cost us around 50k usd . my internet with tv is 1,150 pesos , water 350 pesos , propane 850 , power with 2 aircons 5k to 7k depends on how much i run them , 1200 scooter gas , food for 3 cooking 3 meals a day 3k to 3500 pesos .1,000 usd is 56k in pesos today . a avrage teacher makes 20k to 25k pesos a month . labor worker 300 to 400 pesos a day and skilled is 500 to 600 pesos a day .

For an American or any first world country citizen, living in the Philippines would be like a cheat code. Prices are low because of exchange rate. But it's also why a lot of filipino people goes to the US or any other richer countries to earn that money and go back to the Philippines to have better living. I'd say go there for a couple weeks vacation. Lots of tourist spots not just in Luzon. White sand beach resorts, mountains, great tropical views, tourist friendly people (english speakers I might add), and of course, you can ask anyone to sing karaoke 😅

Since that vid is already 2 years old, Internet speeds have improved for the most part in the Philippines. It may vary from different location, but with the introduction of satellite internet with Starlink, areas that are out of coverage can get faster speeds now.

You can either pronounce it as ANG-HE-LES or exactly like the 'Angeles' in Los Angeles. 11:14 Main transportation for commuting are passenger Jeepneys, buses or tricycles; seldom do people take taxis, though people sometimes call a Grab if they're in a hurry (Grab is what took over Uber when the latter decided to boot themselves out of PH due to lots of technicalities on government permits and other extraneous expenses that eat up their operational overhead expenses). You can rent or better yet buy a motorbike (like the moped you saw) which is much economical for moving around places, though safety factor on the road leaves a lot to be desired, but you'll get used to it over time. That's the fun and challenge of staying in a foreign place. And if you want to save a lot, DON'T live in Manila or the big cities. Stay in small towns in the provinces. That will give you a lot of bang for your buck.

Please remember he lives in Angeles City outside of Metro Manila. Manila is pricier and it has a more convenient transport system more traffic though. But then youll never fully experience the place until you visit the Philippines. Metro Manila is more cosmopolitan with so many things to do and places to visit especially museums and heritage sites and beaches yes, amongst the most beautiful in the world especially Palawan's El Nido beach and Coron island.❤😊

Honestly, in foreigner's perspective it's cheap to live here in the Philippines but as a native it's not. Do you know how much is the minimum wage here as of 2023? It's (converted to dollar) $10.90/day and that's around $273/month. 😂 Now do the math using the guy's monthly expenses and see if that's enough to survive here in the Philippines. I'll give you a quick math, his apartment cost him $271/month and our monthly wage is $273/month. So basically we only have $2 left to spend in a month. 😂 And mind you, that's the city rate, provincial rate are much lower and I think it's around $7.23/day or roughly $180/month. And that, my friend, is the main reason why many of the Filipinos are still seeking job abroad rather than staying here and kill themselves from overworking. That's why Filipinos are known for being a diligent worker cause we grew up in an "overwork but underpaid" environment. Well who wouldn't work diligently after experiencing a very satisfying wage that could literally save your family's life back in the Philippines. 😁

You got to see our 2water falls of laguna, but make sure is not rainy season. Bec very sleepery and u will not b allowd to go near the river/falls. just like ur in Jurasic park,(not the pagsanjan falls). Search Hulugan and hiden falls. In phil a dollar is worth two sets of meal if you ask me. Also its true that its so hot here but for some of us filipinos are ok with the heat( and yes some or most of us drink coffee as long as we can make a coffee). Also we our main transpostation is jeepney( an ellongated jeep )

FYI: Two kitchens are a must for Kapampangans (natives of the Pampanga province) because Pampanga is the Culinary Capital of the Philippines. We are known for our tasty dishes and we cook a LOT. When there are visitors at home, we serve food 5 times a day (breakfast, morning snacks, lunch, merienda, dinner) and the visitors must take home food as they leave too. This culture is most especially practiced in Bacolor, Guagua and Lubao area. A separate kitchen far from the receiving area (usually the living room) is very functional for Kapampangans. I mean, if you are a Kapampangan and you don't know how to cook, that is very questionable.

In carenderia a cooked meat will cost 60 up pesos and 1 cup of rice is between 12 and 20 pesos.and when you buy chicken meat and cook adobo,1 kilo has 5 servings.1 kilo of chicken is about 180 Pesos up.1 kilo of Rice is 52 to 100 pesos per kilo depending on class type.that one kilo has 3 cups nissin.just compare the difference. Manila is warm hot place.high is 30 to 38 C depending on months.low is 24 to 26C depending on months.but if you eant cooler weather go to higher altutude south of Manila .it is upland cavite province .Tagaytay city,Silang,Amadeo are between 400 mts to 628mts altitude with average temp.of 20/22 to 28/30C.the heat index in that altitude is lower compared to sea level areas .the cost of living in urban is higher compared to semi urban or rural areas.you need the right contacts to enjoy the affordable cost of living .the factor that will make life here costly is the Filipino companions you will have so avoid them if possible.only one is recommended .

The 2 kitchens are traditional, the regular kitchen and the wet kitchen. Regular kitchen you handle normal stuff like food prep, cooking, yada-yada. The wet kitchen, which is usually located where there's good, fresh air ventilation or just out in the open in general, is reserved for things like butchering (yes, traditionally, most households handle their own livestock... processing), barbequeing (or things that may produce a lot of smoke when cooking) and also for handling laundry (still can remember the time we did laundry by hand with a metal like basin called a batya and a paddle). Nowadays, more modern households are moving away from having the 2 kitchens setup, but I do miss my hometown where our house had that.
