Cartoon Universe Here's something interesting. You know when you were talking about Aavaros, well here's what I thought. The whole concept of Aavaros being in the mirror and is potentially a threat (maybe I'd) There is something I found that was interesting when I saw this. The Scrying Mirror A black obsidian mirror that people use for witchcraft and magic, also known to help communicate with spirits and other worldly entities and help see the past and future. But as much as these mirrors can be useful but can also be dangerous, for that it can also have evil spirits and entities so you have to be very careful who you speak to. The scrying mirror also can be more effective in the dark, since they are black obsidian, what you are hoping to see will be more see able in the dark with one or two candles. As far as Aavaros is concerned, when I saw how this situation with Viren was going, I had a thought What if Aavaros is their version of the Morning star Lucifer... Hear me out!! Aavaros is a unique kind of elf (beautiful and charming you know) and the fact that he is trapped in an unknown place for some reason, so here is what I think, Aavaros is the Midnight star who thought humans how to use dark magic and that results in every last human to be kicked out of Xadia (like how lucifer tricked eve to eat that Apple resulting in Adam and Eve getting kicked out of Eden) and Aavaros obviously wants to have FULL control of everything (like how lucifer wanted to be a higher level than God) and this probably started a conflict between the elves and Aavaros and MAYBE someone was able to stop him and trapped him wherever he is now (maybe like an Archangel Michael character) and now Viren is connected to Aavaros and is going to "help viren" I think this was a "deal with the devil" kind of situation. And Aavaros is an "Arch Mage" (Archangel Mage to my perspective). Think about it!!! This is so cool and I think that is what these guys where going with when it comes to this character What do you think Do you think this might be something Or is this a little silly? 🌙🌙🌙🌙

Cartoon Universe I think it will be cheap move and main reason why it terrible idea is fact that will diminish Callum learning magic. He is from human race which is believed that they couldn’t wield magic but he broke this believe as known to us, first in human history, and if he happen to be half someone from magic race then this action will faded away and people could claim, it because you are half elf(or something) so better will be if his farther was human

The dragon Callum theory is interesting and it would be awesome, it would also give us a reason as to why in the very first scene he was shown drawing a dragon, especially in such great detail suggesting that he’d drawn them before, he felt some sort of connection to them, or he just thought they looked cool, but he had to have found a drawing of a dragon in a book in order to have something to base the drawings off of, as he likely never saw a dragon in person (that allowed him to draw them) and there are no cameras or anything near to cameras shown in the series.

perhaps it's a mix? maybe humans are able to attune to all elements but it is harder for them as they are born with none, unlike magical creatures. being next to a source of that magic both the dragon and the orb for so long while trying to unlock made it easier for him to make that connection. it could just be that hard that unless a human is exposed to enough force of that element while learning to understand it that it would be impossible otherwise.

@@billymccauley222 the point is that if Callum isn't human. Him learning to access natural magic, which is something that humans aren't normally able to do without a powerful artifact like the primal stones, means nothing. It has been addressed in that he learnt to view the world at large as a primal stone. A source of magic that he is just a conduit for. This is explicitly different than an elf or any magical being, being born connected to a primal source. Which is how all the elves that have discussed magic have explained their abilities. If it turns out that Callum isn't human, then him learning to access magic through a connection he forged to the primal source of the sky is both meaningless and counter to the lore that's been established.

I feel like what would should dig deeper in is the fact that history has been manipulated by Aaravos, i think he manipulated humans into discovery dark magic as the only alternative to them believing that humans can't do magic, because elves believe it. He's the type to want chaos from both sides, the best way to cause conflict would be to take the nature and magic loving connected beings of magic, the elves and other magical beings, cause a war. and the humans, believing themselves to have no connection or potential at all, would steal what they believe should rightly be theres, the only way they've been shown to, by the rebel elf who told the history, in the books, and in the intro

There are implications and theories that human mages forged their own primal source in the past but because it was very difficult and took a lot of time some turned to dark magic. Callum forged his own primal source without any aid and did it in what could be described as a few weeks.

I'm with the Callum needs to be a human argument. Otherwise, the key lesson of his progress in magic is lost. Humans do not need dark magic. Avanos would not be a villian, tricking humans into using dark magic when they didn't need to. Of course...sympathetic villians are in the vein of Avatar... though the chief baddies in that universe were just bad, no holds barred. Like I think Avanos is. Also, at the beginning of season three we see Sol Regem (the king fire dragon, now blind) tell the first dark wizard that humans ARE lesser creatures. If Callum can learn magic, and possibly the entire arcanum, then humans are actually superior. Not bound to one type of magic, though they have to learn. As someone who noticed that Sol Regem was threatening genocide if they humans didn't give up dark magic... gosh, wouldn't that be sweet.

I think someone else made a video about how the dark mages lied to the humans by telling them that dark magic is the only magic a human can learn. Which isnt true because human mages can learn magic under the tutelage of an elf mage. Circling back to D&D, a Sorcerer has innate magic. Whereas Wizards are those who have unlocked magic by rigorous learning. When Lujanne tried to explain to Callum that the way that she knows magic is different from a human (that she has a natural connection to magic that humans just dont) that's what I thought about-the difference between sorcerers and wizards in D&D. So I don't really think Callum's father matters. I just think Callum was the first human to try to learn.

I don't understand why Callum has to be some sort of special being. The idea that humans in that world are not innately connected to magic, but has the potential to connect to any (or even every) kind of magic is way more interesting to me. It would be an extension of how the early humans learned to use dark magic as a resource for survival - now it is shown that humans have the potential to learn wisdom as well as knowledge. Callum had the choice between the easy way to do magic and the true way to do magic, and he chose to do it the hard way. The only way he could do it without hurting or killing other beings in the process.

Like much of fantasy I don't doubt the dragon prince takes inspiration from D&D, but I don't think it's nearly to the extent that D&D lore is good evidence for anything in the show. The dragon prince has so far had no shape shifting dragons or dragon blooded sorcerers, these things are as likely to be or not be as any other fantasy element that hasn't been used in the show. I don't know anything about merlin but the same principle of inspiration being very limited evidence applies, especially in this case since it seems it was only the character designer taking inspiration direct from merlin. A dragon being his literal father doesn't make much sense to me, humans and dragons are very different species. That said, dragons being involved with both Callums abilities and lineage seems very plausible, about as much as elves being involved. IMO 25/75 odds, ingenuity and luck/natural magic, odds in favor of natural magic.

Lol, also #Calum is half-elf :) . I think that humans can do magic but they need to create a connection to the source of magic, magical creatures have this instinct tha forge the connection to the source of magic that the reason the can't explain it, it's a kind to a feeling. Humans do not have this feeling, they are blank slates, but by knowledge and understanding you can make the connection to the source of magic, show in callum dream, following this idea make humans harder to master magic but more flexible when they get the connection to magic because they are not fixed by instinct they are creating through knowledge.

I would also add in the scene where both Callum and Zim get the "call" from the lightning - Zim because he is a sky dragon, and Callum because he used the sky-primalstone and therefore knew how this connection feels like. He basically had made this connection already back then, but still needed to realise that it wasn't the connection to the primalstone he made but to the sky itself - which he finally did in the dream. So, I think understanding the arcanum is understanding that you are connectet to this primal source. Like Callum phrased it: the whole World is a primal stone.

If as a dragon she loved a human and transformed into human form to be with him and bare his child it would make sense. At his death her sister could have transformed herself too early, and cannot speak because of it. Callum’s father could still be a mage as well. The sisters could be with Callum and raise him in a time precarious to dragons. It would be interesting as well as to why they chose the human side of the war. Are the elves guilty of something, or maybe the one elf behind the mirror? The magic cube does originally belong to him. How did it become a childhood toy of Callum’s? Their mother being a dragon would also explain why both boys have magical abilities. I also believe that she could have been saved, but was murdered because her dragon abilities came forth when she was injured fighting the other dragon.

It would be cool if Callum was an elf it would be cool but it would undermine the fact that he's the first human magician who doesn't need primal stones. Because of that I hope they keep him full human ... If not then having him be part dragon would be a bit odd because he learned sky magic first which mean his father should be a sky dragon which, given that the only one we know is the dragon king, would be a bit of a plot device, kind of an ex-machina ... not that the wings weren't but that's different ... because umm well it made some sense and pushed the plot forward.

It is possible that The dead mom of both brothers is a half elf witch would explain why both the half brother's can use magic. The younger basically instinktivly useing beast toubge (a wood elf ability from elder scrolls) on a regular basis.

I like the idea that he learned his magic by hard work, it's the difference between a Wizard and a Sorceror, someone who worked for what they know rather than someone who is effectively just gifted it by chance or circumstance. Dark Magic comes off strongly like Warlock magic or Necromantically endowed magic, rather than Wizardry. Also, semi-related, the way that he learned magic reminds me of "Cultivation" the primary style of mystical power garnering in many Chinese stories, wherein one gains power over an element or aspect of existance by experiencing it, interacting with it, or understanding it. Many Cultivators are single-element or concept based, while others with more talents can have more than one.

When you realize the solemn promise was just a reference to callum’s disguise lmao
Eh, I think this detracts from what makes him special - a human with enough of a connection to magic to actually understand (at least one of the) Arcana is immeasurably more interesting than a *seeecreeet draagoooon*

I think it’s possible that Callum’s father could be an elf, type not specified. But, from what I know, Aarovos has mastered all primal magic (also dark magic). Elves are born with a connection to a specific primal source, Aarovos was able to connect to more. I know Aarovos is an elf, but I believe Callum’s father may just be a human, and Callum was able to connect to a primal source because, he was already familiar with it and (I lost my idea).

Random theories; #1 if callum is half dragon, what if he's also the son of thunder, therefore making him half brother to zym ? #2 what if aravos (sorry for misspelling) is actually a star dragon?

It's difficult to choose which one I'd prefer: - Him being a descendant of dragin/elf sounds cool but it's too common for shows to have such characters now and it also takes away the shine/surprise of Callum being able to perform magic. - him having learnt magic as a human is problematic in a way, as it means there aren't many strict rules in the universe. But it's also good as it basically reimposes that humans CAN learn natural magic, but they are inclined to take the easy path and go dark

Callum was able to do magic because of his strong desire for it. Remember, that he was feeling empty because humans are not born with those abilities. And by absorbing sky magic, he was able to fill himself. This could mean that humans have the ability to learn all magics.

I myself never really considered this idea but I now see it as a crazy good theory. Callum shouldn't be able to do magic, unless he had a connection to of the the elements. He could even be another offspring of Thunder, and that is why the assassins were not supposed to kill his when they killed the other Royal family. Another theory that came to my head while watching this is the point that we don't know basically anything about Aravos. He could be Callum's father, considering we don't know his element, or much about him in the first place. (Sorry about the monolouge, i just love theorizing)

I get the sense that the dragons in The Dragon Prince are gonna be similar to the Warcraft ones. And yes, those dragons can shape shift into human/humanoid forms too. Dragons being able to do that is not often done in tv ,movies, and animation.

I like the idea of Callum being part magical being, but I like more the idea that he's really just a genius of hard work and self mastery. But those two things don't necessarily conflict with one another. Another idea could be that the narrative keeps favoring Callum's human determination and ingenuity, allowing him to grow into a master sorcerer and placing him into a role where he can teach other humans magic by showing them how to connect with their higher consciousness and the nature of the world. Later it can be revealed that his blood is indeed magical, but by that point the revelation doesn't clash with any of his personal growth or the idea that human magic is the result of inner work, rather than mere talent or an inherent racial trait. Furthermore, it would imply that all life is magical, because that is the nature of the universe they belong to, and ultimately prove how senseless racial conflict is when one of the most accomplished sorcerers ever is of mixed blood. So why not both? Both is good.

Let's take this one (or many!) steps further...SARAI WAS A DRAGON. In fact SHE'S THE DRAGON QUEEN and she was never killed by the Dragon King, she went back to live with Dragons or was taken back by force and Viren didn't understand what he saw or lied about it (remember it was the only part of the flashback we didn't see). I can conceive of at least one scenario in which this would make sense. We know the show likes complex family dynamics; I could imagine that Sarai was Thunder's partner, but at some point decided to leave him to live with humans, a huge taboo among dragons. In the following years Thunder got a new partner, who became Zym's Mom. However, in the meantime Sarai had a child: Callum. Maybe there would be some uncertainty about whether he is Sarai and Thunder's son or the son of Sarai and a human, but if it was the former that would make CALLUM the Dragon Prince. Imagine that upon taking the heart of the titan, Thunder captured Sarai to take her back to live with the Dragons, or she bargained with him to return as long as he didn't kill Viren. Viren might have thought he was taking her prisoner or going to eat her, so would have told everyone she was as good as dead. After questioning her, they found out she had a son who might be the heir, which causes drama with the NEW Dragon Queen, who wants her son to be the heir. After the humans invade and kill Thunder and steal Zym's egg, the Dragon Queen of course blames Sarai and so when she sends assassins to kill the King and Ezran, it's PERSONAL.

Either way, there will be some controversy. How is it that (going with the theory that Callum merely worked hard enough to earn the use of magic, as opposed to ancestrally having that trait) no other mage in the past has tried as hard as Callum did? And really, how hard did Callum try? He has a photographic memory. He has incredibly artistic skill. He had these powers way before he every understood he even had the _slightest_ chance of ever doing magic (I understand that Callum worked hard to cultivate those skills, but I'm playing Devil's Advocate here, bear with me). Further, Callum essentially cheated by using a Primal Stone. All he has to do (from what we understand) is inscribe the according rune, and invoke an ancient Draconic phrase. Eventually, yes, he learned to harness the Sky Arcanum. But really, what did he do that others did not? Be in the presence of a Dragon Prince? Have background experience with spellcasting? Embody the attributes of the Sky Arcanum? Have a brush with death? What did he do that others could not? But if Callum truly _is_ the descendant of a magical creature, explaining away the implausibility of his understanding of magic, it takes any uniqueness and value away from his accomplishments. When elves look and see a human mage, no longer will Callum inspire awe to them. Instead, they can say "Oh, he's one of us." dismissing any possibility of a futrure of equality of the two races. Callum is no longer special. Personally, I am all in favor of this being something Callum discovered independently. Irregularities and incomplete reasoning aside, this presents a solution to Xadia's most ancient conflict; that humans are inferior beings. If anything, humans are now _superior,_ since they _earned_ the use of Primal Magic, where others were born with it and carry an innate understanding. They may even carry a greater understanding of the Arcanums than most magical creatures.

Callum somehow being the most special human ever by learning how to do magic on his own also kinda devalues the story imo. I’d love there to be an outside explanation why he can do magic though it doesn’t have to be another species. They could go deeper into why humans don’t have arcanums and maybe they were excluded from that for misusing it. Maybe callums Dad came from a country far away where humans still have arcanums and that’s why it’s easier for him to acces his own. Callum could be a bridge to lead humans back to having magic idk that would be cool.

so your ignoring the fact that in the Dragon Prince that Humans are in terms of magic an empty Vessel meaning threw study & meditation they can unlock an understanding & connection to a Primal source. from here with more info we can say Calum can learn all 6 Primal sources just as an elf did. Lastly Calum CAN'T EVER be a half dragon because he has NO PRIMAL SOURCE when he was born if his father was a half dragon he would have an unlocked Primal source matching his fathers but he doesn't the Key block confirms this. Lastly Ezrin's class is interesting at the end of the first season I determined him to be a Beast Lord www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Beastlord_(5e_Class) HOWEVER after the end of season 2 Ezrin LINKS with Zim Sharing sight & senses, even guiding Zim's muscles, THIS is a Druid ability so in the end Ezrin's class is a Beast Lord lvl 1 / Druid lvl 6 just to have the 2 abilities he uses. but as stated Half Dragon Calum is impossible we've too much evidence to knock that out.

He is clearly incredibly gifted in magic to be the first known human to unlock and understand a arcanum. Seeing he did it pretty fast and lets be honest somebody as powerfull as Viren who has used several primal sources would also be able to figure it out. Let's not forget that there have been many powerfull mages for all we know, that were extremely skilled and way more powerfull then Viren. So to me it can't be, well he was pure of heart and really persistent, since he only tried for a few days, maybe weeks to understand it and I can't believe in the hundreds years before that there wasn't another person that at least had those qualities and maybe dedicated a lifetime trying to understand magic without succeeding. So yeah there needs to be a explanation why Callum can do something nobody ever held for possible. Now I don't want him to be half anything as that would feel like a easy way out of it. I'm longing for a deeper explanation. I'm not good at making these things up, I leave that to the writers. I would like more that for example that this isn't the first time that magical creatures and humans work together. I mean sky elves are now the guardians of the dragon egg, but maybe long ago some humans also were royal guards or something. I'd rather have it go somewhere like the Númenórean race in the Lord of the Rings. Not elves or half elves, but a old royal more powerfull human race and that somehow Callum is a decendent of this old race of men that used to be on the 'good' side so to speak. Maybe because of their loyalty to the Dragons and their close ties they were more magical sensitive. I would want them to deep out the lore. Some humans then discovered Dark Magic and this race of good humans fought allongside the Dragons and Elves, but when they divided Xadia they didn't agree that all humans were punished for the wrongs of a few. Maybe they were offered to stay, but chose to also leave Xadia and live among the other humans in solidarity and thus lost their magic powers. Callum could decent from some old royal line and thus be super sensitive for magic, by spending time in the moon nexus and moving closer to Xadia combined with his dedication unlocked the arcanum. Also it could be explained that thats maybe why he suffered such heavy lashback from using dark magic. So yeah maybe I've taken a bit to much inspiration from LOTR and the royal bloodline story of Aragorn, but for me such an explanation would be much more satisfying and also an opportunity to do so much more world and lore building then simply putting that his father was elf or dragon and thus he's only half human en therefor he has these powers. To me it has to be that Callum eventually grows to be like a bridge between Xadia and the human world. I want it to have an older and deeper meaning. Would be nice if he has some royal blood or lineage to explore and track back to the time were humans and magical creatures lived together. The bridge between the two worlds so to speak, before dark magic even existed.
