Jack Kirby put this idea out into the world, that technological progress would become more and more trivial (scientific discoveries would become less and less groundbreaking) until all of the great breakthroughs were miniaturized and combined into one box: a portable supercomputer that would follow you from the day you were born until the day you died. it’s really fun getting into retro games! there’s many ways to do it now but nothing beats the original hardware on CRT! i’m stoked to try Super Mario Wonder! it looks amazing

Yeah the big problem is general availability and colours so I went to an ebay seller for a black one and suppose £275 is an alright price for a brilliant piece of kit

The problem with the analogue pocket is it's price and availability. Both are things that will likely not change, as Analogue actively WANTS the availability problems to ensure they can maintain high prices. On a side note, emulation lag is basically non-existent for the systems you'd expect the pocket to handle on handheld emulators, when they are properly setup and using the better cores for it. Software emulation will always be a bit more finicky than FPGA, but once you have it configured correctly, the sheer horsepower difference closes the gap to unnoticeable for greater than 90% of users. The issue is more in the amount of emulation handhelds that are misconfigured out of the box or have OS problems that cause issues. It's why most the really popular emulation handhelds tend to end up with custom OS and even firmware options. Which strip the issues that result in that emulation lag. It's also why you generally don't want to be going under 70 dollars or so for an emulation handheld.

I’ve wanted one of these for a while, got one yesterday and I completely hate the form factor, way to narrow the only thing good with it is the screen and speakers. I’ve also got a laminate gba with all the bells and whistles and it feels way better than pocket for long plays.

@dvdaltizer Somehow retro games are more fun probably because of very little learning curve. With new modern games like CoD Modern Warfare 2 or StarCraft 2 learning curve is so high I have no time or desire to learn anything else anymore. So I only play those 2 AAA games on PC and everything else on Raspberry Pi

I got the trans green and its awesome! after playing emulation for so long you really feel the difference with fpga. I think just as an alternative to the mister the pocket is worth it especially with the dock, being able to play so many other cores with openfpga is all I wanted from fpga emulation. I may end up selling the super nt and mega sg now that the pocket is in my life. Also the 2.4 and bliuetooth built into the dock is incredible, I have a bunch of 8bitdo controllers that can be swapped out depending on the core which is so cool!

The screen is the best screen on any handheld 1440p with a PPI of over 600 that’s incredible! That’s better than any phone iPhone and Samsung android Also better than the switch , steam deck , rog ally the highest PPI of a mobile device

It's incorrect that people were still waiting on black and white Pocket preorders when the transparent editions were shipped. All black and white preorders had been shipped before the transparent editions were even announced. Just want to let you know for the sake of accuracy. Also the headphone jack is standard, you do not need a dongle, it takes a regular minijack. The headphones you had positioned so close to the jack would have gone right in.
