Considering all the info you mentioned here is in the actual Lore of the series, its blatant for anyone who has taken time to read it and makes me think that Ubisoft may indeed goto the extent of making Deimos some formally nameless and unseen character just to be a bunch of trolls. I'm basing this solely on the supposed big reveal being ruined due to thinking the fans of the game are maybe too stupid to do abit of research and investigating instead of just waiting for them to spoon feed us tidbits here and there to keep us hooked until the release. Then again I could be totally wrong and your explanation here is 100% on the money and we get a cinematic with him going on a tirade about the US Government going soft thus making them an easy target for terrorism due to their enemies not fearing any kind of retaliation or limited retaliation with minimal action and more sitting around a table negotiating with nothing getting resolved thus leading to more bloodshed.

Imagine as six you can plan out a whole attack with a plan mechanic which will affect how easy or hard the mission is depending on your strategy, your collateral damage, risk of injury to civilians, stealth, and how you decide to enter the mission. Planning the locations of snipers, marines (if you have anything around water), air support (helicopters to help spot things), and infantry with the limit of like 10 people for smaller missions and up to like 20 for bigger missions. And when you start it you can be an infantry, stealth, or sniper for the mission. Idk it’s just a game plan and I think it would be really awesome

I think Deimos is more likely to be Echo Leader since 1 - Echo Leader provides more breathing room for the narrative team to create a story that works, and 2 - Deimos says "my unit", if he was a previous Six he would probably say "my organization", but if Deimos was a squad leader, it would be his unit.

In a old ghost recon game there's a group of soldiers who look exactly like deimos called phantoms granted they're ex ghost recon soldiers but whose to say they don't take from rainbow as well, although I prefer him being a rainbow operative from an older game

They've used this type of design in Ghost Recon for the Phantoms and The Division for the Hunters, as well as Vigil and now Deimos. It might just be a go-to for operators who are supposed to be tactical.

One piece of evidence I would like to clear up: The term “My Unit” is a term soldiers use to describe units they were apart of as well, it doesn’t necessarily mean they have to have run or been in charge of the unit in question.

I was thinking this too, was hoping someone else had the same thought. This is very common vernacular for soldiers, and just people in general. Students will refer to a school as "my school", fans will refer to a sports team as "my team" and definitely soldiers refer to their unit, or company or even their branch of the military as "mine". Also, do we know how old Wolfe would be at this point?

I don’t think there was ever much about him from the beginning seeing as R6 Patriots was scrapped but i think it’s safe to say that IF it was him, age might not be much of a setback for his manoeuvrability. Sam Fisher/Zero is 65 in Siege and still moves like any of the others.

I really do appreciate how you connected the dots between the three games. I have played that mission Archangel, even remembering that dialogue and it went right over my head. Your theory definitely has some backing to it, because there was a chain event after that bridge situation that led to some destruction to the city causing unrest within. You the player was supposed to navigate through and hunt or find the cause, and some unethical decisions could have been made between your mission and the people that were in danger. There was gameplay showing the catastrophic situation in the city as you navigate through it, but I can't find it any more sadly.

As someone who read both "Without Remorse" and the book "Rainbow Six" I kinda wanted Deimos to be John Clark ngl, but I think John served around the time of the Vietnam war, and was aging by the time of the original Rainbow Six even in the book he's too old to be doing operator work. Its been a while since I read R6 anyways so memory is a bit foggy, but iirc Domingo Chavez was also a R6 operator before becoming the director. He's also John's son in law, so there could be some motivation seeing his father's organization essentially be bastardized. TBH, I think your theory has more ground to stand on, I doubt Ubisoft even cares about the books at this point.

He did serve in Vietnam and he is a former SEAL. He was older by the time the original rainbow 6 team was founded. He was probably around Thatcher's age when he became the director. Like he was to old to do it all the time no matter how bad he wanted it. But not too old to occasionally break out his kit and join the boys. But if Ubi was to keep the novels at heart it wouldn't be John or Ding, because in the newest novels they are the heads of an "accounting firm" that is more like a freelance spy group with tac training and Jack Ryan Jr (Jack Ryan is president in the universe) is on that team. So I don't think it would be ding or John. And the publisher of the novels wouldn't allow Ubi to touch the novel characters anymore just because of copyright and all that jazz. I would love it if this turned out to be mr John Clark or Ding Chavez. Could it be another character from the games maybe? Because there aren't a whole lot of Americans on the original R6 team.

What about Allstair Stanley? He’s the only founding member not addressed in the series. He was John’s 2IC for Team 1 and as a founding member, may have seen Rainbow as “his unit”. Granted, I think he was SAS in the book (therefore British), but it wouldn’t be the first time they changed the background of a character. Hell, they’ve changed background facts about R6 operators during Siege’s lifetime (Ash is supposedly 33 in the lore,even though if she was born in 1983 as was the case when the game came out before that was removed from her bio, she’d be 39-40). It also would make sense for Stanley to attack Ash first (if he meant to injure Ash specifically). Ash is in essence his successor. Even though she’s not officially 2IC anymore, she was still Harry’s de facto right hand. Just one of my crazy theories.

I think Deimos could have been a Ghost who received Splinter Cell training to make him even deadlier and it backfired. Honestly, Rainbow needs a Hunk/Boba Fett type of character who's identity remains classified with a reputation full of renown and a past full of mysteries. Hell, this could even tie into a Ghost Recon/Splinter Cell crossover where Kozak and Bishop are sent to advise Rainbow and Red Hammer while Kestrel or Briggs are sent to augment the ranks of Ghost Eyes. And it would be cool to see another Resident Evil collaboration and also one with Modern Warfare.

In the clip from patriots shown it's pretty clear the civilian in the bomb vest was going to be killed by rainbow. It says the vest has a 50m kill radius, he's on a busy bridge and backs into the edge before being approached by a rainbow member. If you ask me he definitely gets thrown off the bridge to keep everyone alive, but this could be part of what disgraced the unit, as a civilian is straight up thrown off a bridge in public eye. This would lead to bitterness from the unit as they had no other choice but are being demonized for sacrificing one life to save others. If this theory is true Deimos would be pissed that he did his job where Harry is getting praise for hosting games as you mentioned

There is also a crossbow in ghost recon wildlands that occurs in a dlc called fallen ghosts and this is called Deimos crossbow. But perhaps it can be called so because Deimos is the Greek god for fear and terror.

this makes a helluva lot of sense and really deepens the implications in the lore Doesn't sadly change two sad truths: 1) Deimos is basically Cole D. Walker 2 Electric Boogaloo, what with the revolver, the cool mask and fashionable cape, and being a disillusioned former member that betrays the organization it was once part of 2) the lore can be as cool as it wants, but unless they implement something different, the lore is confronted by a gameplay where an old bri'ish chav in a pink fursuit and alien mask uses a NERF-painted shotgun to hit a dude dressed like a 19th century beat cop who is theoretically in his same unit.

Yeah make them little story events that appear for some time like overwatch since there too there was a couple events that related to the story but it was always the same so maybe like a single/multi player campaign (it could be like thunt) were there's both a single and multiplayer options that would hopefully get the lire to more people since unless everybody watches these videos then most people don't really know the lire that well nor it at all and even then the story is so large that it's easy to forget sometimes

It would be sweet to see them also tie him in with Ghost Recon Breakpoint by making him one of the Wolves along side Walker and Josiah. Jist have a crossover event that introduces him to Ghost Recon and then bring him into r6 with a new unit that is unknown to Team Rainbow. Then in further seasons they could progress and create a unit that gets revealed by operators that join Team Rainbow and info found out in Breakpoint

Deimos also dresses similar to the Wolves from Ghost Recon Breakpoint which would make sense as it would explain where he's been all this time, he's been in Auroa along with Lieutenant Colonel Cole. D Walker who is an Ex-Ghost, and even after Cole Walker dies in the Breakpoint story, the Wolves don't disband, they are still very much a threat. Because I believe that Cole Walker was not the only leader of the Wolves, James Wolfe must've Co-Founded the group or at least have been part of it thanks to his skills as the previous Six. After some time in disgrace, in 2023, Deimos leaves Cole Walker with charge of the Wolves in Auroa and appears again in the UK if only to kill Harry, 2 years later is when Ghost Recon Breakpoint takes place and Cole Walker takes the fight against Nomad and the Ghosts. Both actions from both men setting in action the possible collapse or at least culling of both military units, correct me if I'm wrong fellow Ghost Recon nerds but the only Ghosts we know that are still alive are Griffin the Ghost Leader, Nomad, Holt, Fury, Fixit, Vasily and the squad of John Kozak from Ghost Recon Future Soldier which takes place in 2024. And with the theory that Ash's death may come as the first Rainbow operator to die I reckon I could put all these guesses on the table, they are all the same universe after all. (Yes there are some timeline differences but now we know the main Universe is actually the Universe where Operation Patriot DID happen.)

In Divison 2 there is a faction called the "True Sons" who are like a actual military so maybe the True Patriots decided to rename themselves and try to take over a already weakened D.C also the is the private military Corp that appears after you beat the game once with all kinds of robots and different tech so maybe that pmc is owned by demios trying get the country to see him as a savior so he will no longer be disgraced. I don't really know because I don't know much about the division lore

I still believe that Deimos is Walker from ghost recon breakpoint. he uses the same weapon as Walker (his signature revolver) and wears armor similar to the Wolves of Ghost recon breakpoint. His being a part of team rainbow also allows for an explanation for how Walker amassed so many wolves in the ghost recon breakpoint. furthermore, your theory implies that Deimos is an administrator or director of Rainbow simply because he uses the word "my own", however directors for team rainbow would not have the ability to kill a new director of team rainbow because they simply would not have the skills to perform such task. an operator such as a walker would have the skills necessary to infiltrate, kill and exfiltrate a compound that is probably heavily guarded, lending to even more of a reason Deimos could be a ghost. a ghost would be specialized and could stealthily infiltrate and kill a director of Rainbow because that was what ghosts are trained to do.

What if, to further your point, not only was he the Director of Rainbow but also an operator under John Clark. That would give him total claim over Rainbow. Being there since its inception and ranking up therein eventually becoming director. Also, don't know if it might be related, but in Ghost Recon Wildlands in the Fallen Ghosts DLC they added a crossbow called 'Deimos Crossbow.' Worth a look potentially.

Deimos is the name of a Greek god, so I think the name of the bow is more a reference to that
