It's also worth noting that in the Adventure 2020 reboot, there is a scene in which Patamon proclaims he is too weak to evolve into Angemon, at which point he evolves into Pegasmon, with the obvious implication being that it's a weaker form than Angemon.

I mean there's a reason Patamon evolved so late and little in the original. Angemon has always been stronger - Devimon easily took down the rest of the partners while Angemon soloed him - Held his own against Myotismon - MagnaAngemon took down Piedmon on his own. - Then in 02 he was nerfed so he had to use Amour evolution

The holy rings give them a power boost of almost one stage per ring. The more rings a holy digimon has the more powerful they are past their current evolution stage.

My headcanon is that most of the Armor Digimon can count as either Adult or Perfect Levels, the only exceptions being Magnamon and Rapidmon Armor, these two counting as Mega Levels. In Digimon games we see Armor Digimon being treated as Adult and Perfect Digimon all the time, even in the anime we see it, an example is in Savers, a Drimogemon (Adult Level) evolved to Digmon (Armor Level).

It is also likely that Patamon Angemon's evolution is just stronger by the virtue of Patamon being much more expirienced in it than Pegasusmon line.

I've always been under the assumption that the Digidestined's Digimon were at the absolute peak of their given level when doing standard Digivolution. I. E. Greymon is the strongest possible a Greymon can be without Digivolving again. But that Armor Digivolving, because it wasn't powered by the Digidestined themselves, was only the average of what that species would be.

It's because the digi-egg drains patamons energy faster then his champion lvl angemon which he has more experience with. See it as the difference as drinking coffee and energy drinks, coffee last longer but energy drinks make you more hyper with all the sugars in it so you lose energy faster

I think it was mostly because of control Angemon can control all of his attacks like for instance hand of fate is a straight line attack and he hits you with his staff but Pegasusmon attacks stars shower is a multi target attack with no control

Depends on the digi-egg used and which digimon uses the digi-egg. Most are around champion lvl but the digi-egg drains their energy faster, Some are ultimate but sepikmon is a rookie lvl, while magnamon is mega lvl.

played digimon digital card battle years ago. the rookie partner can evolve to armor but cannot proceed to champion, unless you digi-devolve back into a Rookie to be able to evolve to Champion. Also there were option cards No.193 and No. 254 to prove that mechanic. Hence, yes. A is always between R and C. but man Armor partner cards are bombs in that game.

Armor evolution is the Adult level substitute. By using a power sliver of the crests, Qinglonmon preserved and hid it in the form of digi-eggs. For instance Nefertimon looks bigger and mightier to Gatomon, but the raw strength of Adult level is compacted and split into the evolved Salamon body and its holy ring that Nefertimon lacks. Although it's an error and glitch for an Adult digimon to armor evolve, the nerfing of Gatomon was made so that Toei could keep the more popular form around to that of Salamon. Patamon and T.K knew from experience normal evolution is superior and durable compared to the unstable armor. The golden digi-eggs are laced with golden digizoid coming from Huanglongmon the ancient supervisor of the holy beasts and the most durable of them all making the armor evolutions rank a scale higher from Adult to that of Perfect but not Ultimate/Mega. Magnamon was able to defeat Chimeramon for being both Perfect levels. When Magnamon battled Kerpymon he needed the assistance of another Perfect Rapidmon to defeat him.

Golden Rapidmon and Magnamon from 02 are both Complex Multiversal. People downplay Magnamon for having difficulties with Chimairamon while ignoring the context. Chimairamon is obviously not your average perfect.Ken already could control average Perfects so it wouldn't makes sense to create Chimairamon with the same level of power as the lackeys he was already capable of controlling. Chimairamon first debuted as an Ultimate before he was downgraded to a Perfect and his entry even states how it's not certain wheter he was made as a prototype or means of countering Mugendramon.Wheter the "Mugendramon" in question reffers to the Dark Master one or an average one matters not because even an average one has an infinite amount of energy wich it releases when it uses Mugen Canon,energy capable to alter or even destroy the entire DW as seen in Digimon World 1. Chimairamon would later become the fusion material for Milleniumon alongside the Dark Master Mugendramon. ReArise even has a quest refferencing 02 where Paildramon,Silphymon and Shakkoumon barely take out an incomplete Chimairamon. So Chimairamon> 3 Perfects. People also don't realize that Magnamon wasn't running on full power. Not only does this form burns through too much stamina and power to be sustained for long,SSJ3 style,the Digimental was used for 20 episodes as a power source for the Kaiser's fortress. In the movie with a complete one, him and Golden Rapidmon are shown overwhelming Cherubimon Vice who warped the RW x2 in a world of darkness that was de-aging the humans,and his entry also states how when he takes this form the balance of the DW collapses and that he boasts the power to destroy the Digital World's balance. Balance upheld and supported by the 4 Sacred Beasts who literally uphold and support the Digital World(multi-layered) and their power extend to and help the Human World being literal pillars of the worlds just by existing. The Adventure Server contains: -Human World - your classic infinite multiverse - Digital World- infinite,multi-layered,resides in a higher dimension transcending the Human World,stands at a higher structural level and is a superior structure to the point the Human World(all of them) is encompassed by the Digital World. It wouldn’t be possible to to process the data of the Digital World even if the Human World itself is used as a processing resource -Dark Ocean -Dark Area-infinite and multi-layered - World of Darkness of Daemon -The World that materializes wishes -The 5 worlds seen as pillars of light shown in the final episode of 02,confirmed by Kakudo to be parallel worlds that can be accessed with the D-3 -There's also the gate in Vamdemon's Castle that has ~ 362,880 possible combinations of cards each being a world that said gate can lead to,the gate being connected to other. As long as they are in Yggdrasill's server all these worlds and the Human worlds corresponding to them are supported and upholded by the Sacred Beasts. And the mere presence of Cherubimon Vice is stronger than the power of the Sacred Beasts that uphold and supports all worlds of the DW and help with the HW. Cherubimon Vice's existence>Power of the Sacred Beasts that supports all worlds. This is especially shown in Digital Monster D-Project where Cherubimon Vice was making the Swan Word, a collection of worlds just like the Digital World collapse and his mere existence made the Sacred Beasts go mad. He actively used them as his lackeys against the player after corrupting them. If not for the virus that was regenerating him the oppening moves of Magnamon and Golden Rapidmon would have been game over.

That part in the final battle with they "gave up their actual crest" isn't true they were going to use the Crest but apocalymon destroyed them after that they discovered that the power of the crest was inside them

They gave up their crests post the final battle. In episode 27 of adventure 02, TK describes how they gave them up after Apocolymon to restore balance.

I don't really agree with the first argument that was based on Patamon chosing to digivolve into Angemon as a source of say Champion is stronger than Armor, as Angemon is already on par with Ultimate level digimon. The second I do agree with, that they started to make less use of it. Armor digivolutions became a means of transport. So in conclusion I agree with your theory, but the first point has no validity in this case.

@@memerz4525 Umm you do realize that Digimon with human partners are exponentially stronger than what their species are capable of right? Human emotions have the power to make Digimon stronger. The stronger the human emotions are the stronger the Digimon gets. The power of Ultimate Level Digimon is also said to either put the Digital World in danger or lead it to peace. Ultimates are capable of warping the Digital World's space and time and their power is so great that they can cause space-time warps between the worlds with their attacks or by simply flexing their power. Wendimon already has the abillity to move between dimensions, create distortions as it moves between dimensions, create a dimension with a sun and a flower field that de-ages the opponent and just by screaming alter the Human World making the world go black. Cherubimon was stated to alter the Human World into a world that is akin to his black and cold heart and it possesses the power to destroy the Digital World's balance. The virus that turned Chocomon into its corrupted form also resides in another dimension inside his body. You have to destroy that in order to kill it otherwise it will keep on regenerating.

Angemon is a very particular case, since it was stupidly overpowered for his level. He dealt more damage to myotismon with one attack than all the other kids perfect level digimon combined (excluding angewomon), and also oneshotted panthomon (a perfect level digimon, who just happened to be in close proximity to myotismon/vandemon and got hit with the same attack). Same with magnaangemon, who kicked piedmon's ass, while wargreymon and metalgararumon struggled. If we use game logic, we could justify it since angemon's is a holy digimon and strong against dark, but it may not apply to the anime, as it was neven mentioned If you count games: -raindramon was a perfect lsevel in digmon world 2 -in digimon card battle (ps1 videogame), all armor evolutions could eventually reach a power level similar to perfect (by equipped stuff, probably does not count) -in cyber sleuth, flame dramon has a memory cost of 8 (equal to the strongest champions), while magnamon has a memory cost of 22 equal to the strongest megas, higher than imperialdramon fighter mode, equal to most of the royal knights and the demon lords, and just a bit lower than ultras like omegamon and susanomon which are at a 25 memory cost

I believe the reason raidramon is an ultimate in digimon world 2, is because world 3 and digimon adventure 02: tag tamers are the first games that have the actual digimentals themselves make an appearance. (I could be wrong but I can't find an earlier starting point for the digimentals outside of the anime) With the angemon thing: pegasusmon and angemon are both stated to be holy beast(not the sovereign, just the classification) or holy knight, in angemons case and both are stated to be able to "quell evil" in shorter words, with their attacks in the anime.

armor didn't have specific power levels like other levels. levels in general are more a guideline than a rule. lucemon as a child or perfect was already stronger than hyper spirit digimon in frontier. in xros wars lucemon was far weaker armor in the anime was mostly shown as adult strength, in the digimon story games and digimon masters, they are comparable to slighty stronger perfect levels. golden digitmental evos like magnamon have general the power of a perfect or ultimate. wikimon lists 4 levels alone for magnamon

The Human Spirits are stronger than Perfects. Takuya defeated Cerberumon the Watchdog of Hell(Dark Area),Parrotmon and Ice Leomon. In the movie he also one shot Murmukusmon, an Ultimate Level Digimon. The strength of the human part greatly affects the power of Hybrid Digimon wich allowed him to one shot a powerful Ultimate. Crossfire Slash an attack made in a combo with Wolfmon rivals Trinity Burst made by Megalo Growmon,Rapidmon and Taomon. An attack that killed Gulfmon, a Digimon that causally created a dimension based on the destruction of the human world and can destroy the world in 7 days. Both the Human and Digital Worlds are infinite multiverses. But in the context of Tamers the cosmology would be: Only the surface, physical layer is a human creation. The rest of the Digital World, which constitutes the majority of it, was created by the Digimon themselves, and the development of the Internet in general is shown to affect it. To reach the Digital World, one must traverse the 6 layers of the OSI Model, which form the Net Ocean, the Network that's accesible to humans. The physical layer of the Digital World, which is seen as a wasteland in Tamers, is in the depths of the Network, which humans can't normally access. Aside from the physical layer, the Digital World is formed by a successive number of layers, of growing complexity... it's basically a good fit for the cosmology based on Emanationism that Kakudou created, even though Konaka wanted to discard it. Each layer contains a good amount of "miniverses" within it, spread across all of them, which were created by the Digimon as homes, and the Tamers cast explore a variety of them in the anime. The highest/deepest, biggest layer of the Digital World, was created by the 4 Holy Beasts who, in a role that mirrors Adventure, maintain order in this world. There are three layers that make up the Tamers Digital World with up to 9 miniverses spread across these layers. Each layer stands at a higher structural level than the one before it and they have their own planets and stars as shown by the manga. In 7 days Gulfmon can destroy that and the Human World as well. And the combo of Agnimon and Wolfmon(Human Hybrids) match a combo made by three Perfects that killed Gulfmon.

@@adrianobones7277 The way they treated Izumi compared to rest of the team was horrendous. Lowemon was originally planned to be a Fusion Spirit. A combo between Duskmon and Velgrmon. But instead they made him a Human Spirit with the power of a Fusion Spirit because of the Neebelnge Ring he wears. As Duskmon is his corrupted form they are about the same power.

Hikari didn't have her D3 and terminal after being abducted to the Dark Ocean. Gatomon sensed she was taken in a place of feelings. When T.K, Patamon and Gatomon followed into that dimension Gatomon realized it wasn't the digiworld and the lighthouse, a control spire in disguise, was leeching off their powers. Patamon armor evolved into Pegasmon and destroyed the control spire lighthouse while Hikari overwhelmed by her emotions triggered the Angewomon evolution. This happened because the Dark Ocean much like the Dream Dimension the Vamdemon possessed Oikawa used are parallel worlds to Earth and the digiworld where the laws of physics and digital sequence don't apply. Thus the crest of light broke through the veil to allow Gatomon to Perfect evolve into Angewomon.

In episode 32 where Dagomon called out again for Hikari and Ken the Dark Ocean invaded the digiworld and created the same veil dimension to separate Hikari and Ken from the rest with Yolei getting trapped as well. The fear emotion paralyzed Ken completely and slowly infected Hikari had it not been for Yolei's resolve to knock sense into Hikari and vice versa so that the feeling of determination allowed Aquilamon and Gatomon to DNA evolve into Silphymon and defeat Blossomon and Dagomon's effect.

I think this video misses a key feature of the armour forms in that they are more specialised than champions, each of the 3 newbies having a combat form and a mobility form- it's almost a parallel of beast and human forms in Frontiers, but blah! We can therefore assume that armour digimon (especially with digidestined power boosts) can exceed champions in certain scenarios whilst remaining inferior in others: Flamedramon for example providing an equal our superior boost to combat stats that champion evolution does but inferior mobility bonuses whilst Raidramon offers the opposite compromise. A champion like X-Veemon would be a preferred option then as it provides a more well-rounded stat increase. Similarly, Angemon possesses the speed and power to take down guardramon efficiently whilst Pegasusmon would lack the power to easily defeat him and Flamedramon the ability to close the distance quickly enough to capitalise on the element of surprise.

By game stats, (the true canon) Flamdramon has about 1,000 points over ExVeemon. But I'd say it's safe to say they ignore that in the anime. Kinda like Ash's Pikachu, Pikachu's are not that strong in the games.

I think overall most armor digimon are weaker champions on average. The cause with the armored digimon have overall niches and are overall inexperienced with the big issue being the armored forms has a flaw with them.
