I didn't expect to tear up watching this...as a kid and into my teen years I had severe mobility problems and a very severe chronic pain condition in my leg. I was bedbound for all of high school and never thought I would be able to do anything meaningful or fulfilling with my life. I sat in bed looking at pretty places on Instagram thinking that I would never be able to go there. It was terribly depressing and I honestly never thought my life would be anything less than painful and upsetting. Luckily in November of 2020 my leg was amputated and most of my health problems have been resolved following the recovery from that surgery. I was able to take a gap year between highschool and college to recover and re learn how to walk and live independently, then I moved cross country all of my own. I moved from the eastern shore to college in Oregon. Every weekend I go hiking and it still brings me to tears sometimes thinking about how much I can do now. Just yesterday I went to a waterfall that I've been wanting to go to since I was a kid and cried when I got home because I genuinely thought I would never be able to physically do that. This video connected with me so deeply, thank you so much for sharing your story.

@@ANDREWLEVITT The best advice I ever received about this is "it's ok to grieve the person you could have been without this and mourn the loss of the life you could have had". I can't get back not being able to go to prom or graduate, and I can be sad that that happened. But it's all about what you do going forward (cheesy, and easier said than done). It's ok to be mad that you don't get to live the life you wanted. I am much better off now but I still have a lot of limitations because of my prosthetic. I wish you all the best! (also will you be active on patreon again anytime soon? I would love to support there).

Hey Andrew maybe you didnt know this, but the thing is that here in Spain, public hospitals and public sanitary places are very cheap, if not free. Maybe, if the treatment for your disease is expensive, you could come to Spain, and you would be treated for free. This is also free for foreigners.

This movie hits me really hard now, because back in 2020, I lost my grandmother, and ever since then, my grandfather has kinda been like Carl in the movie, and it hurts because Carls wife, reminds me of my grandmother, and Carl reminds me of my grandfather, and so when Carls wife gets sick, and passed away, and then my grandmother passing away from stage four cancer, it really just reminds me of it and it hurts, but this movie means so much 😭❤️ Keep pushing through my friend! ❤️

I didn't realise it was actually a real story. I always thought it was loosely based off of the mr men little miss episode "Mr Nonsense rows to the moon" because a very similar plot happens, different locations but same method and similar character interactions (watch it if you don't believe me, it's on yt). It is a massive shame the house is now dilapidated/destroyed.
