Hey! Question: If I obtain an undergraduate degree from a lower semi-target school (for example, Penn State/Baruch College) or a non-target school (for example, NMIMS in India) and then a postgraduate degree in MS Finance from a top 4 university such as UPenn, would I be able to break into investment banking with a good starting salary?

Im in the middle of choosing between colleges and I am majoring in finance. Im in between Purdue and University at buffalo. I live in NY so Buff is cheaper and more convienant in every way, but is the worser school. Purdue is a way better ranked school but more expensive, nicer and inconvienant for me to get home. I honestly have no idea which the pick I am fine with both options one or the other. Please help!!! Thank you
@Galbra1th8 ай бұрын
At the end of the day I’d say to pick the option that minimizes regrets in the long run. Neither are finance target schools, so I would worry less about the “prestige” of the school and more so on what the experience on campus and the network of alumni looks like.

Hello there,i have a question.I’m from little country and will get a double diploma of local university and also mid polish/weak german university in business administration or economics,still haven’t decided.Will i be able to enroll in strong major programme and then get a job on wall street?or if your bachelor’s programme is weak,then you’re done?
@Galbra1th8 ай бұрын
I think anything is possible! Landing a stronger degree would help you in the process though. It also would be much easier to join a US company in your home county and then doing an internal transfer to the U.S., instead of directly applying for NYC based roles now.

do you think TCU would be good enough? It's in Fort Worth, and SMU is in Dallas
@Galbra1th11 ай бұрын
I don't think its proximity to Dallas / SMU really makes much of a difference in this scenario.. I think TCU is still a good school, but certainly has more of the Texas banking connections than NYC.

Hey man, how hard is it for international students in tcu to get a job after doing a bachelor's in finance?
@papihuey6 ай бұрын
@@krishpandey10 hey, funny i was holding my phone. I’d say it’s definitely possible as I have seen & know a lot of international students got job offers. If you try hard, it’s pretty likely ur gonna get an internship offer during undergraduate years, and hopefully a return full time offer after graduation. It’s still a tough process that requires lots of effort, like networking and joining school programs to boost ur resume & experience & have high gpa. I believe tcu gives a lot of scholarship & financial aid to international students as well. Lemme know if u have any question
@krishpandey106 ай бұрын
@@papihuey do you personally know any such students? I'm really worried because after graduating from a non stem field like finance students only get a one year period called opt to work in the states. Do students normally continue to work in usa after that or look for jobs in other countries?

There’s still plenty of roles for graduates, but the traditional pipeline is through an undergrad internship / offer straight out of school. Open roles for grads are a bit more random, but as an undergrad you will typically join with a big class of people.
