I really miss those days. I think she's trapped in a wrong loop to achieve the extreme 'Soul/Emotions' without paying attention to her technique, while a good technique can also provide you a way to do that. Also her tone during this era was everything. Right now she wants to be 'Raspy/Soulful', but forcing her voice into an unnatural state. That could be very awful & uncomfortable to hear sometimes

There are actually people out there who think she "never improved" lol B2B was her ultimate prime and my favorite album although Stripped and her Debut are more cohesive. B2B just has so much sophistication compared to the other albums

Back To Basics is way more cohesive than Stripped... At least to me... Stripped have a great intro but the other songs sounds misplaced and it doesn't have a real concept, it's just some random songs that doesn't have a real musical connection... Stripped is my second favorite though... In the Debut some songs sound way too similar, and it's not what cohesive means... I like that in Back To Basics she made two parts of the album, and the Circus one is really cohesive, since the beggining with Enter The Circus to The Right Man, the songs have a connection, like she's really giving us a show, a Circus show...

And four songs lyrically similar, where she's talking bout basically the same things, self esteem, love, self strength and overcoming (Beautiful, Soar, The Voice Within, Keep On Singin My Song), and I love these songs... I Will Be have those same themes, but it didn't made the final cut in the album...

Yaaassss Back to Basics was a prime era for XTina in every way. I feel she was most connected musically here. That mix of old school soul, blues and funk over new hip hop beats gave her so much inspiration and you can hear it all over that album, her best work IMO. Makes Me Wanna Pray, The Right Man, Hurts, Oh Mother, On Our Way, WITHOUT YOU.... That phrase at 3:00 and that effortless slide at 3:47 yeesssss. Loved her creativity with her runs in this era too - On Our Way being the best example. That Eb5s at 5:05 and 5:26, so open ^_^

Good work! She had so many great G#4s and A4s here, I think she was best up to B4 in belting with some good C#5s here and there. She did get quite tense above that mark but in her good days she could keep a forward placement. Apart from that, she also had quite a lot of iconic performances during this era. =)

It only becomes “strain” when you completely rely on the larynx and raise it to an extreme degree, causing a pinched and whiny sound (think Jessica Simpson). Christina is full and robust up to C#5. There is no unnecessary raising of her larynx until about E5.

Only one C#5 sounded supported, the second C#5 didn't sound supported at all to me. Not completely sure about the others. She sounded really nice up to B4, contrary what some people believe. I'm not sure where the thing about her not supporting above G#4 came from.

They probably talk about consistent supported range, which she does not have much because she likes to intentionally strain. At her best I would say overall she has E3-C#5/D5. In b2b era alone I think she sounds good even up to F5. Strain sounds good in this era imo.

D5's from Still Dirty are sung with support for sure, the same goes to the EFFORTLESS D5 from Lady Marmalade, the Dirty one could be supported as well. The first Eb5 is probably her best one ever, it sounds supported to me. Other Eb5's are debatable.
