To be honest, I don’t want to have to do any tweaking to make a gun from the factory work as it should. The tweaking should come from using accessories to fight my liking. Not to make it function better

I have 10 different BCA complete uppers some are pistol some are rifle I have them in 22 long rifle 22 mag 17 HMR 350 legend 300 blackout 223-556 9 mm they all run flawlessly. I haven’t had any troubles with any of them.

Neat little fire-breather! I've heard pistol length gas systems in 5.56 are hard on parts. Seeing the cam pin, rings, and extractor pin all puked right outta the gate is kind of concerning. My shortest is a 10.5" with carbine gas system (PSA). Nice review though, thanks for sharing!

I had similar problems with a BCA 9mm upper. Almost the same parts broken/out of spec.

I own three different BCA uppers in different calibers and sizes. While some of them have worked fine, the biggest problems I've had were with the 16" 7.62x39. Main problems found with all of them is the poor quality of their firing pins and extractors. To avoid additional problems, I decided to buy enhanced firing pins from other companies and phosphate extractors mainly for the 7.62x39 since the regular bolt is too thin and the extractor usually breaks after a few rounds. Yes, they are less costly than others therefore, the quality of their components will not take too much of a beating. Of course, we all want a gun that never fails but semi autos are more complex than bolt action rifles.. If you want a an AR that will last more rounds, then be prepared to spend more bucks. The worst feeling in the world is when you pull the trigger and you get a simple click and nothing else. Thanks for sharing!

From my experience it just depends on whether you get a good one or a lemon, I have a 22 mag, 556 and a 308 Uppers all 16 inch barrels from them, so far the only problem has been when I try to shoot the 556 too fast then I have a problem, if you are lucky and get one of the good ones Bear Creek Arsenal is okay as a budget option supposedly customer service is decent, if you have the money PSA is a slightly better budget option.

I was looking at these the other day only like 179 or something with a bolt carrier group right now. I'd have to spend a little more and get the forward assist/charging handle one at like 225 cause the side lever just looks wrong to me 😆

I work for a gun club/private shooting range an we have banned BCA because of the dozen or more failures [several catastrophic] we've seen from them by member's Management see's them as a liability /its just a matter of numbers/time before we see someone get hurt on property by 1 ! If you have to go budget get a PSA ,they are a MUCH better /safer option from what I've seen ! Then you can just save up add on better parts BCG ,Gas block & tube etc etc as you go ! Ive seen an EXTREME torture test on 2 PSA sample rifles here on property an they are better than decent from what Ive seen so far / IMO !

My 20" Hbar from BCA shoots sub MOA all day and I've taken it out to 800 yards no problem at Dead Zero Shooting Park... Its a lot more reliable than the rifles they gave us as contractors in the Stan...

Take it apart and put it back together and polish the feed ramp. Only thing I upgraded was the ejector and it ejects steel like an ak. Had one misfire out of a thousand rounds

I appreciate the viewpoint that ar parts are easy and affordable to replace. I have not had any failures on my 3 bca’s aside from one firing pin failure. Also I am impressed with the grouping using a short barrel paired with Winchester White Box! That ammo is atrocious for consistency. Pair that up with a short barrel then its a recipe for inconsistent shots. I see a lot of comments being overgassed. I dont see that, so maybe others can explain why think that?

You are getting some 2 o'clock ejection. Means the guns is overgassed. Tungsten buffer wts will like slow down the BCG. Too fast a cycle rate for the BCG can lead to failures to feed.

your buffer is to heavy for that weak ammo you are using... Is that an H# buffer? also the twist rate on a barrel that short better be at a minimum a 1:7 twist... The angle of how the brass ejects tells a lot about the setup and even more about the shooter.

These issues make this rifle unacceptable.ive seen too many reviews showing the same problems.. Hi point carbines priced even for less are better and reliable... Last this you want in a firearm is poor performance when it matters the most.

So buy it when it's at the lowest price.Take it apart and check all the screws and torque them.Buy a decent quality BCG and your all set.

If you gete a BCA upper, take out the bolt and put in a BCM bolt. Problem solved.

If you know what your buying is the lowest grade cheap components… maybe get a mid length gassed upper setup hahaha… a pistol gassed setup is hard on good quality parts hahaha… in all seriousness a 18-20” with a rifle length gas system with this quality bolt and carrier buffer etc.. would last a while … I’ve never understood the under 16” 556 choice people re acting like these rifles are huge are have some odd fantasy about hiding a AR in a backpack and why would you not choose 300aac if going under 12”??? Just seems odd choice

Friends don't let friends buy BCAs. This is the poorest of the poors rifles. We bought a few in the height of the scamdemic and several of them would not run AT ALL right out of the box and every last one of them was out of tolerance in a variety of ways. If you're gonna be poor, at least get a PSA. Better yet, don't be poor and buy an FN of BCM at a minimum. FFS your cam pin snapped in like 500 rounds lololololol

I like BCA, it's made me the home gunsmith I am. I've had to fix everyone I've bought and I like it like that. I take them all apart and debur them and reassemble them.
