great video! i think a large part of the reason for the "mods must take requests" opinion is just frustration with the level rating system honestly, it's incredibly difficult to get a level rated through level request servers & streams due to how many good levels are made & sent each day, so the anger with the system gets thrown onto moderators as they are the only ones who can help creators get levels rated hopefully if the system is revamped at some point then this frustration against mods who don't do requests will die out
@alecrutz956Ай бұрын
it's also the fact that it comes down to literal RNG at times, when they have it randomized what level is selected next. And having to be heard in a chat spamming their levels, hoping to god the mod will choose your level.
@MrNexis3Ай бұрын
This is so real. Lots of people treat mods as tools more than as people. All of you are players, same as us, after all. Like you said - you only have a few more buttons. I've talked with mods like Incidius or Hexagon who are more active in the platformer community and they are really chill people! I've learned how to disconnect them from their status and I just treat them the same as other cool players in the community. A lot more people should consider taking this approach.
@auskgdАй бұрын
Fantastic approach, I appreciate you for looking at things this way. :)
@McMiner3244Ай бұрын
I know it can probably be very stressful to be a mod, considering more people send levels for them to check out. It can be overwhelming at times. But still, everything you say is 100% true. I heard that being a mod does have positives and negatives… Happy Modiversary by the way!

I understand your role as a moderator, it is a role in which you must have a lot of responsibility, it must be frustrating to spend the whole day playing requests, as it must be very tiring, btw you are in a university, that makes the "Taking requests" harder. I want to say a HUGE THANKS for being this incredible moderador, IMO you're the "best" one (there's not a BEST moderator, I just say you as the best because you're a good person and you're Brazilian, as me) Sorry if my english is bad, but thank you so much Ausk! ;)

Although there are lots of cons to being a mod, I think it would be an incredible feeling to be able to make someone’s day with one click of a button. The fact the moderators can do that is what’s inspired me to try and become a mod. I understand your point about people messaging you just to get a level sent, but I think that the pros far out way the cons, and I would literally give my left kidney to become a mod. Brilliant video, and it’s nice to see this from the perspective of an actual mod, rather than people who make videos because they take level requests and just think that they are pretty much mods. Also it would be great to have an ingame system where you could request your levels directly to mods, so if people don’t have discord and stuff, their rate worthy level could still get rated. Also there could be some sort of request mod who is not qualified enough to send levels to Rob, yet can remove complete troll levels from the list of mod checks. For example, people who are in the top 100 creators could vote on levels to get taken off the list because they are troll levels or completely un-rate worthy and if it gets 3 or so votes, the level gets taken off the list to ensure there is no corruption. Anyway, brilliant video and have a nice day 😀🤩

I remember being so hungry for a GD Moderator badge four years ago for some kind of status in the community and will to spend HOURS EVERY DAY JUST TO SEND LEVELS… But now that I’ve grown up from it, I realised how genuinely frustrating the treatment has to be. For example I still play the game almost everyday, but sometimes I just dip for two weeks to do other things I’m passionate about and that’s completely natural. With mods however, this kind of “break of rhythm” might result to the community shaming you for not doing your job properly (even tho it’s not even your job to log in EVERY SINGLE DAY and the rest of the mod team would definitely understand)… but the surface level of players really do consider mods as a level rating machine. It’s sad since I used to hunt creator points as well just like everyone else and there’s nothing bad about it. But now that I stopped caring so much, my perception of mods as human beings changed so rapidly.

I'm very grateful for the mods on doing their best they can and i fully respect that. I Remember i also used to say "if i ever become a mod i'll send levels every single day!!!" well even if i become a mod now that wont happen anymore, as i grew older i kinda realized that that isn't really needed and sometimes its best to take things on your own pace. The point about conversations feeling like they are only talking to you to get what they want is so real. I get a lot of DM's every day from people much younger than me making 'small talk' and whilst I don't mind too much, I'd rather they join my community and talk to me through the public channels. That way they can interact with their peers instead, because when they talk to me it just feels really weird and parasocial. I find it hard figuring out what kind of community figure I want to be, because I'm not the type of guy to close my DM's and be very private- I do enjoy being open and honest with people. But at the same time that honesty can give people a false sense of "friendship" with me that is not reciprocated at all. I get being young and online can feel lonely sometimes. So I understand where these people come from, I've been in their shoes plenty of times. But now that I myself have a big enough audience that I technically have "fans" part of me is wondering if I need to start becoming more and more private to protect my self interests, at the cost of coming across as more rude and mean spirited. Cause all it takes is 1 person with the wrong information to doxx me. Or to tell me some deeply private stuff that they probably shouldn't tell me because how do they know I can be trusted? What if they give personal information to somebody after me and then that person ends up taking advantage of it? It is incredibly dangerous and I am scared for lonely young kids in this community that put blind faith into content creators and streamers like me.

I actually don’t mind about what the role of a GD moderator is. I always think of them as a bridge to communicate between us and robtop and I appreciate that you give your voices to those who doesn’t have any strong community presence in the game and give a spotlight especially those who’s new to creating and wanted to get notice of their work only that they don’t have anyone to have a direct connection to the community for exposure of their creation. I think the complain that the community, have towards moderators is that some of them, do favoritism towards very popular and controversial players, sometimes it is related to stuff, that happened behind the scenes in terms of behavior that is kinda questionable sometimes.
