Having owned a veterinary clinic, there are so many bad things that can happen to a cat who is outside without supervision. Cations are a great solution and so is leash walking. Really nice teaching video about the breed.

The thing is... they have a LOT of energy - if you dont want or can get the energy out of them EVERY day you are in for something. Someone in my family has 2 bengals, i dont know what generation all i can say that the male is super long, never seen such a long cat in my life, that might be an indicator. They are both sterilized and have a huge house with lots of stuff to play and climb over and under - it was not enough. The male complained till he got his way and now both are daytime outside cats, he has a tracker collar with a call function and is conditioned to return home when it goes off, his paths are monitored and notifications will be dropped once he leaves his allowed zone. Female is a bit more hesitant but enjoys a roam around the neighbourhood too and has a apple thingy for tracking since the real thing would be a bit heavy on her. Yes the danger that they can be abducted is there also they live in a town with lots of tourism... i dont think that lowers the risk- but they are happy cats.

My bengal is out every day. I do walks and she follows me no problems. She lives in an apartment for most of the time. In summertime she enjoys life on an island no cars no predators. She is so much happier after a walk😂😂 and when on the island.

I had a Bengal for 19 years. She was the sweetest, most devoted and most beautiful cat you have ever seen. I have always had cats but dealing with Shundor (Beauty in Bengali) was a learning experience for us both. Bengals are insatiably curious and will poke their nose into any new thing so you have to be a little careful about what you leave lying around. They also require more stimulation than most domestic breeds so you always need to have toys around and lots of interactive play time. Two caveats to owning a Bengal, (actually they believe they own you); they have very long back legs and are incredible jumpers. Shundor could jump from the floor to the top of my 4 1/2 foot dresser without even thinking about it, then when they get up there they are annoyed that it isn't a nice place to sleep because its too crowded so they will push everything off until they are comfy. Second they are incredibly vocal. They talk all the time! They are really funny since it is fairly easy to see what they are calling about. Food is obvious, but Shundor used to get up on the bed and imperiously demand that it was time for me to come to bed with her because she was sleepy. To wrap up, she was the best cat I ever had and I still miss her 15 years after her passing.

I feel the same loss. My bengal, Buddy, died about 10 years ago and I miss him whenever I watch these kinds of videos. He was an almost entirely outside can and I know he got up to mischief, on account of how MASSIVE and SOLID his jaw muscles were! The sweetest, smartest, noisy cat I've ever had. I'd pick him up and carry him on my head, draping his front paws over my forehead with his head just above my forehead. He loved his rides. Never been able to replicate this activity with any other cat and I'm sure I never will.

Great video and what a sweetie! The slow blinks made me melt! 😻Yes, I think your Bedford is an F5 based on looks and gentle character. And I agree, I think people should not adopt any earlier generation of hybrid cats other than F4 and REALLY do their research still. I have a F5 snow bengal and although he has the wild looks, he acts pretty much like a domestic house cat. I got him from an aquaintance who was looking for a responsible, experienced cat owner for her bengal kittens. And I happened to be looking for a feline buddy at that moment. His bloodline definitely has more Egyptian Mau than British shorthair though. My Nova is a real twink compared to your boy xD But just as much a softie as yours. It's funny to see so many similarities. My snow boy is a snugglebug and sleeps with me every night and all in all is a wonderful housemate. But I can see where people would struggle with a Bengal's unpredictable behaviour and strong prey drive. They're definitely not your ordinary housecat and a handful at times. I would not dare invite my colleague's young daughter (who loves kitties and wanted to meet him) when he was still a kitten, knowing she would get scratched and/ or bitten. Their claws are actually extra painful. Hybrid cat claws tend to be bigger, thicker and longer than regular house cats. Fortunately it's a breed that is highly trainable and if you raise them right they are very friendly, gentle cats. Nova is now 2,5 years old and calmed down significantly. There are still times where I have to correct him when he's being overly playful and excited. I don't want him to grab anyone's feet when I have people over so it's important I remind him of that. He would never intentionally hurt anyone outside of that playfulness though.

Thank you! Interesting what you said about the claws. I have noticed that Beddy's claws, and canine teeth look bigger than average but I put that down to him being a large cat.
@Goikuchan

@@BedfordtheBengal Oh yes. The raptor claws are real.😅 They also grow extra fast so clipping them is practically useless. Fortunately a good scratching post will maintain them just fine. It's funny how gentle they are around humans with those killer paws.

I have a Maine Coon cat that seems to have a similar temperament. My cat, Stellabell Honeybee or Stella for short, is the sweetest, most intelligent cat I have ever had. She likes to get outside and climb trees. She won't wear a collar, so I really can't let her out. Although, she will escape out the door if I'm coming or going, and not mindful to secure the door before she sneaks out. Thanks for the information on Bengal cats!

Our Bengal was odd and quite neurotic at times. She was fairly removed from the wild side. She was amazing yet quite vocal. She didn't always get along with some us namely mom. Yet she adored dad. I suspect certain cats get competitive with getting attention from opposite sex.

Awwww, Beddy! ❤ such a sweetie. Thank you for the info on Bengal cats, I didn't know about the generational thing, so that's interesting. As you know, our 2 are black British short hair & like Beddy, they are chilled, smart & fun. We can pet their bellies, Ralph will control his impulses, like if I have shoes on, he will attack my foot & I will wiggle my foot so that he really goes for it with claws & if I have barefeet, he won't attack them with claws or teeth. How he knows it feels differently, I don't know. He's quite empathic. Mapacho is less empathic, but he is a big sweetie. They're looking forward to seeing you soon! ❤❤❤

Our Bengal is very independent and impossible to stop going out side, she is allowed to roam at will but always comes back home. She is very good with children but needs she own space, this is very important. I don’t think it’s fair to have a Bengal in an apartment or flat, they need the outside to roam.

My Bengal is twenty-one, has gone deaf and is going blind. Very very noisy when wants attention and food. Likes to sleep all day in her igloo. I put a hot water bottle at one side of igloo so she can lay against it if she wants warmth. My experience is the males are a lot more placid than the females! She does not like dry cat food. I warm sachet or tin foods and the bowl before serving it. A wonderful cat to own.

Looks like he's F4. He's a bit too large to be F5 in my opinion. If he lived outside, he'd be a menace to all the small animals and his jaws would be HUGE! I had bengals when I lived in California and had two male bengals that lived freely outside and they had massive jaws made of SOLID muscle. They were literally the most loving and friendly cats I have ever owned as well as the smartest animal I've ever owned. Yes, smarter than any dog.

My female Bengal is a real bad bitch😁 She fights every other cat and is sooo active and talks soooo much it’s unbelievable. Every day at 5 am she starts singing😀I still love her. She is the opposite of your bengals ,I guess she is F4. I got her from an animal shelter . She is a bit short in temper and scratches or bites eventhough she seemed as if she enjoyed being pet. A very difficult lady😄

@@BedfordtheBengal Yes, I had a white and grey F5 female who it took me a year, I kid you not, to ingratiate myself into her good graces. She was super sweet most of the time, but bit and scratched and growled far more often than any of my male bengals did, even though they were F4! The distance from the wild is just a general rule of thumb. Each cats' temperament is unique, but you get more domesticated temperaments from F5 and beyond than from F4 and before.

Totally understandable. Just be super active with your cat and you should be able to give her the attention she deserves. Play with her all the time. The worst thing a pet owner can do is neglect their animals need for attention. This is why I have never owned a dog. They require too much attention and I don't want to give that much attention to my animals, so I stick with low maintenance animals like cats. Cats require a much better amount of attention than dogs. Namely, much less.

I know this is a bit older, but hey Beds!!! Oh how I simply adore him and you (also your husband or partner) hope you're all doing ok? He's amazing is Beddy!! Hope you enjoyed your food lovely!!! Was super interesting how they came about really I think their I believe (as its based on Latin lol, or is Latin) some say their taxonomical name or which ever for the Asian Leopard is Bengalis or something like that anyways. They found though (as some owners wanted the markings of that kind the rosette markings or some wild animal markings) that the Asian Leopard they'd be perfectly fine to begin with but would become really aggressive, so people kept essentially abandoning them as they just weren't suitable as domestic cats like what you've said in this video really.

I have a Bengal cat, he is 9 years old now and he is a special boy. He doesn't meow he says wahoo. he can be quite demanding sometimes, but he is the most loving cat i have had. Everyone that comes to the house loves him and so do the neighbours. He is very territorial and often i will here him screaming at other cats in the area and as you say he does not back down. He does however come to me when i whistle him. He often sits on the roof of the bungalow across from our house watching what's going on in the close. He will sit in the bedroom window chirping at the birds. its as if it is his little kingdom. sometimes when he has his claws out i have to say claws and then he will retract them as they are quite sharp. Bedford is a beautiful cat and very similar to mine. good vid
