I am almost 40 years old. I have only seen 3 women wearing Cartier Love or JUC bangles so far. I saw Porsche in my town more than any hermes bags or any bangles from cartier. 😆😁 We might saw it a lot on the internet. But in reality they are rare. Now I have them too and I am very happy with them. They are very very expensive and too expensive for what you have to pay for. I know and I get it, we all have to pay for the Name but I always have them with me and they are my forever pieces. With the scratches, it's a nature of gold. You just have to understand and enjoy it the way it is, just like our leather bags, they can be scratched and be aged. They are also not last forever. I used to have many handbags but I can wear it only one at the time, but those pieces are always with me every day . I enjoy them a lot.

My opinion is that you buy the jewelry that you love and that reflects your personality. Cartier has been popular since the start and that was before there was social media and influencers. I use my Cartier jewelry for my own sake and not to invest or to impress anyone.

I absolutely love Cartier. I love the Trinity collection, the Diamants Légers and yes, the Love & Juste un Clou are indeed gorgeous. I love their watches as well, especially the Panthère and the Ballon Bleu. And I don't know where you live but I've only ever seen ONE Lady wearing the Juste un Clou bracelet... so yes, even if it's popular on social media, in real life ? Not many people can afford this I'm afraid.

I’m glad I purchased mine way before they changed the mechanism of the lock on the love. Been wearing mine for 11 years with scratches and all. This bracelet is not for you if you expect it to stay pristine as the first day you bought it. It just doesn’t work that way. To me this is not a special occasion jewelry where you only take it out to wear occasionally. This is something to be worn daily and enjoyed. This is a piece that age with you, on you.

I have somehow never bought the LOVE bracelet, things always came before. But at this point, I just feel I missed the boat...the bracelet has become very popular. The stack of dreams for many is LOVE, JUC , VCA.....it is stunning but , its very overdone. The panther line has always been stunning, and underrated, now the clash is taking popularity. The marketing behind this brand is spot on thought. Great video, at a perfect time since I decided to get myself something slightly different, I am a rebel like that :) merci

Not excite you because it's overplayed? But did you really look around you if a lot of people wearing it or your reference is only on the internet? i think the people bothered by scratches of any jewelry especially love range in cartier DO NOT UNDERSTAND that IT'S MADE OF GOLD, also, its flat.. so it's COMMON SENSE that it will scratch.. i wonder a lot of people expect that soft metal like gold with flat solid surface can't scratch..

Thanks for the information and your input on this topic. Cartier is extremely expensive for the basic folks like myself. And, as you mentioned the love line is not as unique or valuable at resale. If someone has the money to spend go ahead, but I also believe for the money of Cartier it’s best to invest in fine jewelry at an independent jewelry store. I have watched many videos on the love bracelet on how they get scratched easily and also how it is not “exclusive” any longer, everyone in social media has them and they’re not special anymore. Save your money or invest elsewhere.

I only look at gold worth and if Diamonds are real when I buy jewlery. And I love emeralds. In Spain we have a lot of shops where you can buy second hand jewlery, most for 50 % cheaper than in the jewlery shop. But Cartier is 75% off.
@nadeshikofujisaki5734
@nadeshikofujisaki5734 3 жыл бұрын
The reasons you listed are why I have been hesitant to buy the Cartier Love or JUC bangles. The 18k gold is the most offsetting to me and as you mentioned, there is an over saturation of these pieces in the second hand market. I have been wearing a 999.9 fine gold bangle for years and I once rammed my bangle against the rim of a wall and it only slightly got bent. Fortunately, I was able to visit my local Lukfuk boutique and got it fixed. If I ever am in need of money, I can just sell it back at the market price of gold 🤣 and the color of fine gold is more “golden yellow” unlike the muted yellow of 18k which I prefer. Would love to hear what you think of Chaumet and Bulgari :))

The just un clou is uncomfortable and takes time to get used to because it’s not flat and both of them are horrible to get on and off. I have mixed feelings about Cartier. Their designs (I am not talking only about their fine-jewelry line but also about their leather goods, glasses, watches, scarves...) are undeniably beautiful, well-proportioned and flawless. Those are the reasons why the brand has as long as I can remember, always been almost a "household name" here in France. I have heard this statement numerous times from all the people I know, no matter if they were into luxury or not, whenever they had to pick up an engagement or wedding ring: "well, let's make it simple and let's just get something efficient at Cartier!". We do actually have more fascination towards foreign maisons such as Tiffany's, Harry Winston, Graff, De Beers.... maybe because of legendary Hollywood classics featuring Audrey Hepburn or Marylin, which have left an indelible print within our collective memory. The thing I have noticed that bothers me the most, after spending the last 4 years scrolling through social medias, is that Cartier has had become widespread not only here, but also internationally. I am gonna sound like the biggest conceited snob, although I know you and most of your followers do share my opinion: this worldwide popularity has made the brand less appealing, some of their particular lines (Love, JUC, Trinity) have "almost lost" their touch of exclusivity... I don't know about you but I can't stand this "mass-produced" outfit anymore: Balmain jacket/ Dior or Gucci tee-shirt/ YSL denim skinny jeans/ H or Marmont belt/ Dior or Gucci sneakers/ Speedy or Birkin or Chanel classic flap/ JUC or Love rings and bracelets... I am personally leaning more towards their underrated or discontinued vintage lines such as Santos, Tank, Lanières, Panthère, nouvelle vague... I do always buy their stuffs preloved. Yes, Cartier's resale value is terrible. I remember, almost 2O years ago, one of my rich brat foreign classmates at university got totally broke after his 1st year in Paris His dad didn't want to send him any money, so he had to either find a part-time job or sell all his luxury possessions. Of course, he chose the 2nd option. I went with him to the jeweler in rue Saint Honoré (the boutique still exists by the way) and I am still petrified, up to this day, recalling he sold his Love bracelet for barely 1000€. Had I known this piece would have been so popular 2 decades later, I would have bought his bracelet myself! haha Anyways, I have learnt a lot through this bad experience I had witnessed. I knew about the Love bracelet inspiration. Well, there is nothing really creepy about it. I mean, it is no news! Lethal or torture instruments are by essence very innovative when it comes to design. Jewelry designs have always been inspired by those objects anyways. Trinity, although designed by Jean Cocteau for Louis Cartier, was heavily inspired by Créole "Forçats" chains, which were the chains used by the French to knot the black slaves in the 18th/ 19th century. Your favourite CDC feature doesn't originally come from something cute or whimsical neither. All in all, I think Cartier pieces are a good stepping stone if we want to style our wrists and fingers. But it is better to mix and match with other brands if we want to avoid being a clone of each other IMHO. And there are so so many contemporary fine jewelry maisons that do produce equally beautiful pieces nowadays. I fell in love with Hermès rings because of or thanks to you (Can't find their rings in my size preloved). Chanel Coco crush line in champagne gold is also very elegant, Victoire de Castellane's designs for Dior are to die for but overpriced, Louis Vuitton's gold pieces also look decent if styled correctly, Messika, Apriati, Repossi.. I do like Italian brands such as Pomellato, Damiani, Buccelati, even Gucci and some of Bulgari's pieces (I do find their rings too tacky to my liking though). Japan's fine jewelry industry has countless brands that produce countless amazing and desirable designs. One of your suscribers recently introduced me to Sidney Garber. Thanks God, this brand is not available in France. Otherwise, my bank account would have been in the greatest pain !!!! I am not a fan of other traditional French maisons such Van Cleef, Boucheron, Piaget, Chopard on the other hand. Because of my French DNA, I have tried really hard over the years but I have never ever managed to click with their vibes. I am by no means an expert but maybe those latter are traditionally more specialized in gemology than in precious metals craftmanship... What do you think?

So fascinating to hear your insights on how Cartier, a brand synonymous with French luxury is perceived in its home country. I had no idea, but I'm by no means surprised to hear that local luxury lovers are more intrigued by foreign brands than household names they've been surrounded by all their lives in some shape or form..you know what they say, we always think the grass is greener on the other side! What I've alway found interesting, however, - and please correct me if I'm wrong - that the two most popular pieces by Cartier, the Love and JUC bracelets are not even remotely close to what I'd associate with effortless French elegance..which I guess shouldn't come as a shock, considering they were both partially inspired by and designed in NYC. I don't think it makes you a snob at all! When you're investing so much money in a piece that you'll likely have in your life forever, you have to be excited by and drawn to either the design, quality, or heritage and I, myself, struggle to find that in most Cartier pieces because of how overplayed they have become. It's harder not to spot their pieces on social media than the other way around, and unlike other popular pieces, neither their quality nor the design value makes up for the lack of exhilaration. You're more than aware of my current love and hate relationship with Chanel, but I must admit the Coco Crush range has always intrigued me and I came close to buying a ring or two from the line several times. On the other hand, I've never been a the biggest fan of Messika's simpler pieces, even though I know how popular the brand is becoming. Their core idea has always reminded me of a basic design school graduation project..and not a good one 🙈 There're so many interesting new fine jewelry houses out there I've been intrigued by too, like Foundrae, Retrouvaí, and State Property 💎

Love Cartier and that’s a cultural thing for me. They charge 400 dollars to do deep cleaning on the love bracelet.

Hi! I'm new to your channel, I really enjoy your content and insights into these brands. One thing that really bothers me about Cartier and other designers that offer fine jewelry is the true value of gold. The love bracelet is over an ounce of 18k gold which doesn't cost 6k. They mark these items up so high that in the end they're not worth it. Instead of the love bracelet, I can purchase several ounces of gold in the highest quality that won't depreciate in value. So, in terms of true investment, I don't think it's worth it.

Absolutely! When it comes to designer fine jewelry, you're not only paying for the precious metal but also for the branding, design, and experience. So it's up to you whether you like the design enough to spend the extra money on it or not 😉

What you don’t understand is that many of these Cartier pieces hold their value and appreciate. You’re not only paying for the name, but for the history and impeccable quality. You can’t quantify the price of Cartier on price of gold alone. Yes it’s overpriced (I have a hard time at the prices as well) but I understand the value the jewelry holds. Sure, some people have lost bracelets (but I also find it hard to believe most people take care of their jewelry the way they should, but that’s a whole other subject), but when you hold one of these items there’s no mistaking the craftsmanship. Can you buy amazing jewelry for less somewhere else? Sure you can, but if at some point you want to resell for whatever reason, you will not get anything close to what your originally paid. That’s not true with Cartier. I know because I’ve spent so much money on other designer pieces and when I’ve tried to resell it’s priced at half what I paid. That never happens with Cartier pieces like the love bracelet or the juste in clou. They resell for the same as retail or close to it, depending on condition.

I don’t think either of these are anything special. They are literally everywhere. Almost every KZbinr has a Love or Juse un Clous item. They are not something to look twice at.

Hard pass on Chopard. Chopard style looks like items I can find at Kay's Jewelers and a copy of the Carier Love Series.
